"Having the courage and the will to not go back". Yes, we have all faced this decision when attempting tricky 'sections', particularly when alone, on a bike which is really a bit big and heavy (and tall) for anythng too challenging. But your enthusiasm and candour are refreshing in this space, where you don't try to be any sort of hero, or expert - just an ordinary rider trying to enjoy a ride. Like the rest of us. A sixth necessity I would have included, and which was obvious at times during these latest 'Arthur does off-road' videos, is the rider's physical fitness. Both general fitness, and specific 'bike fitness'. The former through some degree of a healthy lifestyle, the latter through simply riding more. As I approach 71 y. o, with 13,700 kms on my similar Transalp, these things become apparent when attempting a difficult place when alone, which may be a bit borderline on a bike like this, as I did last weekend. I too asked myself whether I should go back, what am I doing here, etc. But often by that time we are in a spot where turning around is not really an option! But I got through, with not much by way of gear and equipment, and yes, the satisfaction this can provide is worth the concerns. Perhaps self-confidence in myself and the bike, rather than just satisfaction. And relief when the track becomes easier again! Keep sharing your honest reflections - we enjoy them. This video not as repetitive as some of your others. On the rear brake concern - I found I had to bleed my rear brake twice on my TA, with a small improvement. But the fact that it is linked to an ABS system can leave it 'spongy' when we most need it. But try bleeding it a couple of times - you may gain a more solid pedal. You have to remove the rear brake master cylinder, and rig it up at a different angle, but it doesn't take long. I still maintain that this would have been a better bike for most owners without any ABS, TC or ride modes, but I guess that relates to my age...
Thank you for the comment, it was really nice to read your thoughts. I think I should have started with 1. Courage or confidence, but confidence comes with practice step by step, you'll see how it goes further on my off-road series. This topic it's endless, so many things you should know before riding off-road, perhaps many of them could be eliminated having a much lighter bike ar a dirt bike (or not), need to try it out. For sure there's only one way from now : forward 👍
Thank you! I just got my Transalp and I'm going to start adventuring myself into off-road so all these tips are really valuable to me, this stuff can be easily overlooked but I'm sure they make a huge impact.
Another great video thanks for sharing and some good info as well. It's stopped snowing again and while I'm still waiting for my 50/50 tires to arrive I need to get off-road more

I should have said the rear master cylinder RESERVOIR needs to be mounted differently tp bleed it.

The off-road training series it's from a total beginner's perspective so more or less you know what to expect hopefully, greetings 👌

50/50 will be more than you need actually. To go outside the pavement I make more than 70% of the complete riding day.
Good video! All good points you've brought up. Ride on!!
Thanks a lot for your comment, appreciate it 👍
