I own a wildcat trail. My father has had the new maverick trail and the new 2019 yxz, he still cant get over how bad ass the little kitty is in all aspects. From drag racing to hill climbing to mudding pound for pound dollar for dollar the cat is a savage. Its not the fastest or best at any given scenario. With some upgrades, tires, reflash, etc. that lil 650 will go anywhere. Im still running stock tires and havent had any issues, hell I've never had to be wenched out of trouble yet.

What really matters is how they hold up. Im new to sxs, shopping but hvnt bought yet. Seems I keep reading about problems with Polaris. Dont know exact models. So which one of these will last several years and 1000s of miles with no trouble. Durability and Dependability over short term performance. Thats whats important to me....

Really appreciate the honest and candid review you guys deliver.....well done, even if some people don't like the answer, that's journalism. As consumer we look around, shop around and watch endless youtube vids prior to the big purchase and I for one say a HUGE THANK YOU. In 2013 I bought a Polaris RZR 900 XP and couldn't be happier, I realize everyone has a personal preference and style likes and dislike and respect that (makes for some great smack talk out on the trails LOL ).

When I heard the arctic cat was using Elka shocks I figured it would kill the Fox shocks in the Polaris. it's a shame that they under designed the a-arm's. Power to wieght ratio is important but I know from experience with my Kfx450r having a few more ponies and being 20lbs lighter than my brother in laws Predator 500 gearing makes a difference thats more noticeable than power to wieght, when we run down the highway were dead even, on paper i have the advantage in real world conditions it's even. Alot of machines these days are so close it comes down to what you can afford and what you want. We all come together to ride an have fun, out on the trail it doesn't matter what you ride as long as everyone is having fun.

Here's an honest review from a current 900s and 2 time rzr owner. I thoroughly test drove both before my 900s purchase and here's my opinion. So yes the Polaris had a nicer ride....when it was new. The stock springs sagged and pounded out in 600km. So almost $1000cdn later for new racertek springs it was good again. Polaris is full of recalls and warranty issues. I've had 2 new fuse blocks and a new ECU, relays failing and fan plug malfunctions until hardwired in. 2 sets of brakes in 850kms. 13 months old and has spent likely 3 months at the dealership.
I made a mistake and went against my gut with Polaris. Typical polaris fit and finish is absolutely garbage. I'm a proclimb M8000 sled owner but figured Polaris had the UTV market by the bag. I'm just over 6' and the cockpit comfort is very similar in both. Rzr has slightly more room but barely noticeable. I'm not brand biased but I won't buy junk. Polaris marketing and advertising definitely does wonders for them because honestly they are garbage. DT you are well payed to be Polaris supporters and pretty much anyone can see that, whether it's sleds or ATV/UTV'S. You can say you're not but we know better. I ride with close to a dozen other 1000xp, 900xp, 900s, 800s and even a 570 and other than the 570 all have been problematic.
I'd do the sport all over again if I could go back. Good reviews and if you're worried about the extra HP get the Evolution powersports flash and go smoke 1000's. thx

Bought this machine new in the Wildcat Trail XT version in 2015. No problems. Gets to 110kmh pretty quickly. It has a true locking front diff and a very low range. The Fox shocks were easy to set up and they ride excellent. I did not like the stock tires too much so I changed them ($400). Its not the new XX that is for sure but for this category it is the best by far in my opinion.

I've been a long time Polaris fan and currently own a Sportsman. While doing real world shopping for a new side by side, something became VERY apparent in the value department. There are dealers here in Kentucky that will discount the Wildcat Sport XT to a price of $10,500! That's over $3000 off MSRP. The most I could get a Polaris dealer to discount was only $500 off MSRP on ANY RZR! Since I am not a man of unlimited funds, I will be buying a Wildcat.

I have both, 2016 wild cat trail, 2019 rzr 900 trail, bought both new, this review is almost my take on them but you can get a artic cat a lot cheaper used by many thousands $$$ plus you can find them with very low hours & not beat to hell, I actually like my cat a little better feels more like a sporty buggy, lower to the ground, the rzr first felt like a golf cart on steroids but I got used to it, added larger tires and accessories, rzr does look good all done up, one thing that another post said; the cat is gone but textron will bring out a stronger competitor in the future in which I believe, I would buy another wildcat trail in a heart beat!

I understand that you're trying to portray that you're an independent "testing agency" and that you report your findings in an unbiased way. May I suggest that in the future, make your video introduction narration in a neutral place, such as standing on a trail, leaning on a tree, or standing between the two competing vehicles. By sitting in the RZR, you're making a statement: this is my office chair where I'm most comfortable. You immediately have set the tone for the remainder of the video presentation, clearly giving more credibility to that machine before the actual review even begins. This may not be your intention, but that's how I perceive it, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.

I agree on the seat comfort being better on the Polaris and yes it has more power but it should it's 200ccs larger. In a straight line race stock to stock the Polaris isn't really that much faster. What I disagree on is the handling. I've driven both for long periods of time on trails that you can learn the true status of a machine. If your a aggressive driver or just a cruiser imo the Wildcat just preformed better. Again IMO. You can go tit or tat all day long and in the end you buy the machine you like better. Is the Polaris a good SxS yes but a couple of minor bolt ons, muffler, Uni w/air box mod and setting the suspension/tire psi's to your preferences the Wildcat will outperform the Polaris 900s everyday of the week. There is a replacement for displacement and it's called power to weight. Off the mods listed above you'll get close to the 900s hp level but with the Wildcat being way lighter it's no competition. I've always hated how high your seated in pretty much every Rzr and like stated in this video they "feel" very tippy, where in the Trail and Sport Wildcats the lower seat position it give you a solid driving feel. Which in turn builds your confidence while driving the Wildcats. Polaris has always produced the lastest and greatest machines but I know Arctic Cat will get off the couch and start stuffing either larger engines in these SxS's or slapping on a turbo. I'll take the second.
    Great video guys as usual!

I Have a 2012 RZR 800 H.O and use it on a lot of mud . My cabin is 24km the trip one way is 70% mud water I go there on the RZR . Sometimes I go alone and sometimes with buddies they are on ATV Yamaha 700 , 550 Grizzly , Honda , Cam Ann , they get stuck a lot and the RZR have to pull them out . I am the only RZR here my son was going to get a new ATV until I puled hem out he got of to on hook up then he said I think I will keep my ATV . I said why he said because I go to get a RZR next year .So that will be good I wont have to pull them out lol
Can you tell me if the RZR 900 you have will go over mud like the 800 is 978 Lb vs 900 is1,150 Lb . I love to up grade but I not shore it will . The 1000 Cam Ann cant get very far not one ever made the trip yet . Great job on video .

should have thrown in the workmanship and also the service each dealer gives. I know I love the rzr, but the service at the dealer here locally sucks. That alone is making people purchase the wildcat here over the rzr. Also another factor, accessories and availability. rzr got that stitched up as far as I'm concerned. That's my opinion and my opinion only. Another great videos guys. God Bless and Cheers!

+wilf williams Service will vary from dealer to dealer regardless of the brand. It is such an important relationship to consider when purchasing an off-road vehicle.

If Arctic Cat would simply put the 1000 engine in the Sport, then they would have the power part covered. The 700 twin seems to be no slouch but it was built to outdo the Polaris 800 which it easily has covered. The 900 and now 1000 S models simply have more power than the Cat 700.

      @mikemercier8163 8 лет назад

right on with that assessment. now if artic cat would put this motor in the sport we would be comparing similar power plants. I have very little seat time in the 2, so I really don't know about the tire concerns. I thought the sport limited came with the better idp blackwater tires but not sure of that.

The Sport does cost much less than the Rzr 900S though. I have seen the base model without eps for right around 10K at my local dealer. Honestly the 700 twin would probably be more than sufficient power for me if I wanted to buy one. 60 hp and a top speed of about 70 mph is still pretty impressive, especially if it costs 2-3 grand less than the 900. Most of the trails around here would never allow you run anywhere near top speed anyway. Even the atv riding parks don't give you the chance to run wide open. You'd need to get on a gravel road or wide open field to ever get it up to anywhere close to top speed. I was following a rzr 1000 xp at a local riding park and because the trails were so tight, they were limited to about 15-20 mph to keep on the trail and not slam into the trees on each side. I could have kept up with a Honda Recon.

+Greg Rowe not to mention you can take that 3grand you saved and dump it into the motor of the Cat and get yourself another 20 HP, and end up with a machine that would be infinitely more fun with a power to weight ratio similar to a turbo 1k... With a better tranny and suspension.

At the end it was almost sounding like he dealt guilty for the wildcat and went from it was a tie to nope it's the rzr... sure the far is going to have a party 7hp difference. It's a 900 twin against the 700 twin. But this was already covered. Bottom line and I will be 100% brutally honest- I love both dirt and snow trax but it is hard to openly accept they constant leaning towards Polaris against every other manufacture... not to mention the wildcat trail in the 50" class is.running same fox shocks as this far 900. But apples to apples and to each their own. We all ride 😎

Your answer at the end can you spend 800$ on wildcat to perform better sure you can a dulton clutch kit alone will make it perform better 300$. Also add on how much Polaris doors cost than your looking at 1500$ more. So add that into wildcat sport complete performance kit with clutch kit. I am a owner of a wildcat sport and all my friends run Rzr900xp and 900s real world comparison I get by both of them and top end is about same, as for handling elka tuned to your driving style perform just as well if not better oh and I also get almost twice the gas mileage as my brothers rzr900xp and reliability on the trail miles from civilization not even going to go there.

Derek Fraser Man I'm torn between the two honestly, my buddy just bought a brand new 900s and I fell in love, but everything I read I'm leaning towards the wildcat sport. just wish I could ride one and I read scary things on the wildcat forums too.

Have to disagree on this review. Over the past few years that the Wildcat Sport has been out I have watched them take over in the TORN series here in Texas. This last race even though they were in different classes I watched a Wildcat Sport run down a Polaris 1000 turbo. If the race had been a few more seconds longer he would have passed him. I myself ride neither I am on Kawasaki. Just throwing it out there. Plus as someone else noted the recalls are unbelievable with Polaris. I guess one thing you were right on is you were able to put Arctic Cat out of its misery. It is forever gone but out of its ashes will rise a very powerful company. If I was Polaris and Can Am I would get ready Textron Offroad is fixing to change the game. I hope Dirt Traxs likes Textron Offroad?

I simply do not agree with this, The wildcat delivers way more speed. The power is basically the same because it is so light. And in my opinion, that tires on the wildcat are just fine.
