  • So, here's a 13 minute video on one of the most well known railway terminals in the world. By the way, this video was recorded before the East Side Access, just to make that clear for when you watch it. Grand Central Terminal had its 110th birthday just ten days ago, so this video is sort of a tribute.

    The New York Central and Hudson River Railroad ran down the West shore of Manhattan to lower Manhattan. The present "high line" preserves an elevated portion of this route. North of 35th Street, it is used by Amtrak trains.

    The blue line shown starting at 0:45 as coming in from the Hudson River itself is certainly not right. The only mainline railroad ever to cross the Hudson to NY City was the Pennsylvania (now Amtrak and NJ Transit), coming into Penn Station.

    You forgot about the secret bar in Grand central called Campbell. it use to be private office of railroad executive and millionaire John Williams Campbell, who leased the space in 1923.
