I looks absolutely ridiculous to see a 75 foot boat at 24 tons handle the sea like that. And plane at 40 knots with 2/3 of the haul out of the water. That's world class hydrodynamics 🤘 Absolutely monstrous and gorgeous 😍👍
I'm an old US Navy Veteran. My health has challenges, so I mostly same home these days. However, I have a strong connection to my ocean...even thought I'm land-locked in beautiful Colorado. I found Safehaven's RUclips videos recently, and it's brough new energy to my otherwise dull life. Your boats are truly special.. truly awesome!!! I will enjoy watching your videos for my remaining years...thank you!!!! PS: I served with some great men in your neck of the woods - SAS. Tough as nails where these lads.
Thank you for the video . I have said / stated this before , these boat from Safe Haven Marine set the bar very very high . Their designs to me are futuristic especially Thunder Child 1&2 . That boat looks like it's right out of the Movie The League Of Extraordinary Gentleman . I found these boat a few years ago and have been fascinated with them ever since .
Very impressive vessel. love how the engineer's stretched the width of must needed thin design for extreme sea's and making it still perform beautifully in very rough condition's. you guys have obviously put some heart and soul into this vessel. Very impressive ladies and gents. side note: A vessel this small handles big water waves and the dangerous foamy stuff better than boats much much larger!
I have been around boats and water all of my 65 years. Experience and even a self righting hull design isn't going to save you from the unforgiving unpredictable sea. Hats off to all.
your hull design is what i would have created if i was going to build a boat, the front is perfect for hitting waves and cutting through them instead of being pushed up like a balloon like many boats i watch on the net, if you look at naval ships their front hulls are similar to cut through water not push like a snow plough.
Best pilot boats are SWATH hulls. There are videos with SWATHs against normal hulls. SWATH is at least 5mph faster and far more stable for getting pilots onboard.
Most annoying editing job I've ever seen! Let the shot run for a couple of seconds more so we can see the boat react to the wave! You keep cutting just at the good part!!!
funny enough, this gives more confidence in yacht than any other glamour promotional videos. even though these are FRP, id be more convinced of their sea keeping and most production builders.
My question is: Is Thunderchild 2 a platform for delivering pilots ,for underwater mapping ,or more like para military operations .For which is it better suited ???
A SWATH (small waterline area twin hull) is a 100% better than any other type of design for rough seas. Its basicly two under water torpedos with a platform attached to the torpedo hulls via hollow beams. The hulls only have to be big to hold fuel & engine, & enough buoyantcy to float the platform, but with the hulls stay at neutral buoyantcy. The exhaust & intake air for the engines can be routed through the hollow triangular shaped beams, at least 3 on each side with the pointy side of the beams pointing forward for better water flow. Similar to how a pier is held up. If stabilizing horizontal fins are attached to the inside of each hull both in the front & back. The boat becomes very stable at cruising speeds. This will the shape of the future. Another misleading concept about marine vessels & aircraft is that multispeed transmissions will not work on marine props or aircraft props. That is totally not true. An aircraft can use a transmission the same a car does, on a level highway. Variable pitch or constant speeds props & propellers only lesson the pitch slowing the boat down speed slightly & rpm of the vessel or aircraft. With a multi speed transmission with aircraft at level flight tbe rpm would go down while the speed would go up. So for a marine vessel, especially a SWATH boat that is not effected by the waves.
At 1:48 it says "fuel capacity 2113 Gallons" and then at 2:02 it says "865 miles range / 0.4 GPM " My experience with boats suggests that with that type of boat you just do not get 0.4 Gallons per Mile and it is more like 2 GPM.
4 650hp Diesels will burn approximately 130 gph at full throttle, so if the boat does 62 mph its using a little more then 2 gallons a mile. At cruising speed of 3/4 maximum rpm it will burn about 65 gph. So if you know cruising speed you can calculate the gpm. This boat is actually pretty fuel efficient .
If anyone is building a better boat they are being so quiet about it that we have never heard about them.... The best damn boat on the planet is right here.... What a superb machine !!
It's a wave piercing hull design. Designed to go through the wave not float over the top like a regular boat...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe and healthy everybody GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND yours..
Not a comfortable rid though you can see in the high seas it's prone to slapping hard after the wave. It's been edited out for most of it, because the hull design is wrong for rough water.
@@grouchygrundle a heavy full displacement hull would be cool to to see but I wonder if it would take away ability to punch through waves from lack of speed
Even if your not into boats, there is NO way you can't be impressed after watching this video! Super cool!
I agree to many boring people out there that’s the problem the engineering that goes into a boat floating in those conditions is something else

I believe the yellow boat is 42' LOA. The other one is smaller than that.
We're in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, we need good boats. These are good boats. Greetings from Ireland.
ROTFLMAO As an ex-Navy man who has been to Ireland....no offense, you are nowhere near the "middle of the Atlantic Ocean"....
@@oldschooldiy3240 which navy, Fiji?

Safeheaven CEO: “time to take out the boat!”

😂👍
These boats are BEASTS and would make Haulover Inlet beg for mercy...!!!
Fantastic video! Two boats looking like their drag racing across the inlet. Great!

Same
Safe Haven Thunder Child are good boats, but the Grabner Mustang Class are much more better.
Propeller 🤣 I had a look, absolutely ferocious looking beasts 🛶😝
@@simon8089 Yes, for a Grabner Mustang you not only need a powerboat driver's license but also a gun license.
Just WOW. Thanks for showcasing these awsome boats.
Haulover ain’t got squat on that inlet. Purpose built and engineered, been a fan for years of Safehaven.
Somewhere on the west coast the Coast Guard actually intentionally rolls the boat in the rough seas that are produced in the area.
Not only an amazing vessel but pretty damn cool looking too.

You guys and girls who design and build these boats you are awesome, these boats are such an achievement, serious form and function, amazing.

I need one of these with a fighting chair, self bailing deck, tower, and rod holders!
Me too,would love one.
Would be too top heavy these are designed to be self righting like a coast guard surf boat.
J G a guy can dream😅
Wow ! Some boats !! And that's what I call a video !!!
Worst ever video of some truly amazing boats.
Now those guys get some real waves over there.
Marine forecaster: you'd have to be insane to be the water today!
Safehaven marine guys: hold my beer...
ME: Looks at my 18' bow rider lake boat. Shakes head... I wouldn't go out in those seas in an aircraft carrier!

Wouawww...I love these boats: very very safe !!! 😮👍😎
I have seen the thunderchild boats but not the pilot boats. I love the pilot.
Don’t tell anyone that I am getting old👀

The boats may survive but they better have puke-resistant fabrics inside.
Love these boats and the whole safehaven ethos, you guys infuse these hulls? Foam core?
Great. Does it come in camo?
🤣
Ireland...... Great Country
Rugged Coastline

Amazing beautiful boats!
Best built boat in the world ,nothing comes close.
Which?
Heart of the steel amazing people
In Italy the coast guard has this boats from years and they have water jet propulsion
There is a Hurricane alert honey
Yes I know.
That’s why 😃
Entrance to Cork on a good day 🤣🤣 Would give anything to have a trip out with you guys and girls in bad weather 👍👍
First Mate: So Captain, how big do you think the seas will be on our passing?
Captain: Yes
I wonder what the galley looks like after a couple of spins in the ocean?
Great. Now I have one more thing to study obsessively that I'll never be able to own..🙃
You never know
These boats are absolutely great, fascinating
100%

They have some Impressive boats they design down there
That do
Haulover Inlet will be easy for this amazing boat these things are awesome to the max !!
Love to see ifone of these boat could handle those huge 80 ft + waves of Portugal ?
Thunder Child vs Haulover Inlet at storm surge.
These are by far bigger waves

They need some kind of line towing canon gun thing . They could make one that has a grappling hook type thing on it

Cool I want one. How much for the 42 with jet drive???
That's how I would want it, with jet drives. No worries about broken props and it would have strong deceleration.
The next Video Music should be Van Halen's JUMP ;-)

Well, the cost to fill it with fuel is higher than what my boat is worth.

The best ...
Can you purchase these?
Made by irish safehaven Company.....top style
I know what I'm getting when I win the lottery. The water gets rough on my pond when storms come though.
Looking for a sponsor to get me one of these beautiful vessels.
That gold boat looks familiar. I wonder if that’s the one built in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin.
This puppy didn't make it through the Inlet though.
You buy a house on what it cost to fill some of those up.
How many gallons per mile?
What are these good for, except show? They could get to the place of an accident, but they would not be able to rescue anyone on such waves.
I'll take two Please!
I love that
КРАСИВО .. НО НЕ БОЛЕЕ!

These are good boats, but my Grabner Mustang S is the better boat.
Lol

I'd pimp it out and live in it. Might actually be able to buy one relatively soon. Couple years. Started accumulating my crypto early 2020. 🤑🤑🤑
Take it to nazare

its just wow my boat would sink
Better without the music.

2113 Gallons ???????? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I don't like powerboats but I'll take five please.
0.4 GPM? I think you mean 0.4MPG
Music totally sucks and is not needed. Please note.
I want one

What’s with the 1-2 second shots? Annoying
