I'm 41. My mom and I played this together when this game first game out. She passed away from cancer over 20 years ago. I just wanted to say thanks for making this video and letting me go on a nostalgia trip. Kudos to you! Also... you can turn the swirly red and white things into faries with magic powder? I never knew that!
Me and my mom played this when I was growing up to. She passed away in 2012 😢 R.I.P. mom, I’ll always remember the fun we use to have playing this game.
I liked having it in the background. It creates a familiar and comforting atmosphere. I remember when I was a kid me and my best friend used to play this in his moms living room every weekend when I went to my dads. That was 17 years ago. We both bought the sequel for DS last year the day it came out and 100%'d it in one beer filled weekend. Life is good.
Same, I listen to this in the background when I'm having a bad day. It helps me focus. There's something extremely comforting about the music and sounds of Link to the Past.
1:32:57 I was always so amazed and intrigued about the Zelda universe. The fact that you can see the sky in the background and death mountain with the castle on top was really amazing to me.
Just want to say hello to any Link to the Past fans passing through. This game was amazing when I first played it years ago on the SNES and its my favorite Zelda game all time. I'll never forget when you start out and you see that rain. I will play it again. Take care. ✌
My brother and I got the game when we bought our SNES in 93. Brother played that a lot and I watched him playing it. I had completly forgotten about this game until I watched someone play Ocarina of Time and I thought the sounds and music was so familiar. This game is a walk down the memory lane. 😊
I first played this game when I rented it from the video store in '93 and didn't beat it until '99 (had my own copy by then). Still my all time favorite.
He missed two pieces of heart 16:00 gotta blow through the wall and 3:43:45 gotta use the mirror at the top of of the mountain. He also missed one bottle, he never went but there is a broken house with a chest with "the key locked inside" in Dark World, drag it with you to a portal to Light World and have the thief chillin in the desert open it for you.
Yeah I'm bummed I missed those. When I got close to the end of the game I realized I had missed some but the emulator was already having trouble loading and playing back the movements to generate the video and there was no way I was going to experiment finding out which ones I missed. Glad to finally know which ones they were!
@@RetroGameStream I re-edited it. It's at 16:00. That wall right there. It takes only like 5 min to go get them. I went and collected them before dropping into the pyramid to fight Ganon.

Well done, Old School Playthroughs. I played this game some 20 years ago and (I think?) I beat it back, but the memory of "how" had faded. Going back through memory lane with this video was great -- well played and enjoyable to watch.

If memory serves me correctly, you actually missed a minor secret at the Eastern Palace. If you pull on the face of one of the statues at 34:14 , it emits 4 blue rupees. Unless I'm mistaking that for something else, I think that's in this version.
I coulda swore there was this kid in Kakariko town that dashed around, and you had to catch him. Never saw that part, and you never saved the fish. Otherwise a great play through! Skilfully played! Well done hero!
Every time I visit Kakariko Village for the first time I always jump down the hole in the northwest so that I get free Bombs (yay!), then I use those Bombs to open many secret entrances in the village for even more free stuff. ^_^ That's what a first village should be like - lots of stuff that will power you up!
i haven't played this for well over 10years now and im 34mins into your playthrough, its hit me right in the feels. also here's hoping you make it all the way without losing a single heart, so far, so good! no-one spoil it either :)

This is one of the games that I remember playing when I was a child. I think the first time I played this was in 1992... I still listen to music for old times on RUclips. I have beat this game numerous times and there are a couple things I learned from this video: 1. It looks like you can get two FULL rows of hearts (life). I did not know that. 2. I knew that you could use the magic powder to change some of the creatures into different things but I did not know that you could change the small skeletons with the four pink spheres around them into fairies. Question: 1. Why did he carry the bee in a jar?
While the first 2 Zelda games on the NES I hold dear due to nostalgia....this one is my favorite of the franchise. I was 15 and had just broken my arm from my elbow to my shoulder lengthwise while screwing around with my friends. Due to the nature of my break they did not cast it but rather put a brace on it and put my arm in a sling. After a failed attempt to sleep in my bed the first night home (due to it being a water-bed) I ended up sleeping in a recliner in the living room for 2 weeks. Lucky for me, a friend of mine came over to borrow my Genesis in exchange for his SNES and I ended up playing the hell out of this game.
On my first playthrough, trying not to "cheat" but this video is super helpful (didn't know what to do as a rabbit..) At my current pace this will be a 25 hour run 😂
