I love this new era of sports interviewing/podcasting, listening to JJ talk about how he was terrified about life after ball is something that I really never heard from older interviews. Between McAfee, Bussin, The Pivot, and I am Athlete we are seeing a much more vulnerable and real look into our favorite athletes life. It is just so much easier to listen to than the PR script
As a Maryland fan and grad (was about 9-14 when he was at Duke) man did I “hate” JJ Redick because he was sooo damn good it’d piss us Terp fans off, So I never thought I’d say I absolutely love JJ. So glad athletes have taken control of their narratives and careers.
I grew up a huge Duke fan and my Christmas present every year was going to a game at Cameron. It’s crazy how hated they were or still are but I loved JJ. It had to be hard to be him when at the time I thought he was the luckiest guy in the world!
As a duke fan and white boy playing sports growing up with no chance of going pro. JJ was my idol. Favorite all time player. Miss the 4 year players, gives you a chance to become invested in them with fandom. Watching JJ light double and triple teams up night in night out was a time in life i will never forget. Love the pod and JJ is a great get! Thank god for finally adding the video when you guys watch one. I assumed it maybe was a copy right thing but that was my one downside to this pod until now. When you guys look at pictures or videos and we don't see shit except you guys looking down at a screen.

JJ is a beast and one of the best shooters ever in the NBA. It's also nice to see an articulate and genuine guy get on these shows where everyone has a fake opinion. The boys are right about Orlando being a lot of out of the area people. It has a huge South and Central American population, especially in Kissimmee. Most of the "locals" that grew up in FL don't live in downtown Orlando or near Disney, they're in the smaller suburbs which I'm sure is the same for Nashville.

Who cares what SAS or Mel Kiper Jr thinks when you can get real insights from former players about the game. Nobody is replacing those big network dinosaurs and even their style is dying off quick because the best athlete interviews are going to these guys. First take could never put out an interview as good as the one JJ did with Jimmy Butler and 0 networks could cover Aaron Rodgers like Pat McAfee does

This was a good podcast. I like the hosts' energy and positivity. I know this is one of those internet comment things that I should not say and no one who can fix it will see it, but I think the dude in black was too close to his mic. The audio team should have caught that volume issue.
I think JJ is going to have a great career in media, but more importantly, I think he is going to change the media culture and is already doing it. The guy is good!
If a person sides with an owner and not an athlete, its probably because the owner is behind the scenes. You don't hear about the money deals and contracts they earn, on a monthly basis. The athlete is the face of that and you hear about these insane huge contracts for guys.
