- A long-awaited livestock export ban is set to become law, amid unhappiness it does not extend to Northern Ireland with claims the region had been “sold out”.
The Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill aims to prevent cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and horses being sent to the continent for fattening and slaughter from Great Britain.
Animal rights activist Peter Egan joins Talk’s Kevin O’Sullivan to discuss this further.

Can't wait for next week when they talk about banning halal! But i won't hold my breath.
It is an extremely cruel business industrialised farming. Thankfully, this law has finally been passed.
Is that you Mr Billy Goat?
Have you not got some children to be experimenting on with your insane lethal Brittney Spears?
Wonderful news. Peter Egan is such a gentle man. Pleased to see this subject covered.
All the sheep video's is Australia it is not the UK live animal export is not a big thing in the UK and it has not being banned in Australia where for cattle and sheep it is a big thing
What does Australia have to do with this piece?
Of course there should be humane practice, but I can't help but feeling it's yet another attack on farmers and meat producers, I don't want to eat lab grown "food" or bugs.
Farmers can slowly adapt, grow more non-meat foods.
Why on earth would farmers not keep livestock?
Thank you for bringing this to the media as no one thinks its important as its just animals but there not just animals they are living beings with emotions
Thank goodness, so well said !!!
I love animals every delicious morsel. Another minority telling us what to do. 🙄
Seems Kevin O'Sullivan actually has a heart. Who knew?
Thank you for covering this so well.
Wait so export of livestock 😂 so we trade livestock so that we can make food for people to eat.
So banning trade of animals means ban of food.
They don't want to stop the meat industry. We simply need to end the cruelty in industrial farming. The next pandemic will probably arise from animals and poultry being kept in unsuitable conditions.
