As an employee of the company that builds these amps (and former tech support guy for the same) this is very informative on the basic features and common uses of this amplifier. Though the amp in the video is the PK543A with more features than the older PK543 amp, the same information applies.
Tony Montana, The reason for the relay is when a electric strike is used that does not work with 16vac or there is another device requiring a signal at the same time the door is opened (eg additonal lock or magnet).
Hi, great Video. I have same set up. Just failed. I got a new transformer 16v 10va hooked it up. I am able to buzz the apartment but no talk and no open of the front door function. Is the intercom unit damaged ya think? Or maybe a loose wire someplace?
Good video brot ,,,I have a question , do you know why some people put a RELAY to the door strike and transformer , i wan to know how to install the relay, thanks hope you can help me out
I just upgraded (or tried) to upgrade from a pk543 on a 16v transformer (originally was running a 16v door strike) they then went and changed the door strike for a 12v magnetic lock but left the power the same. The lock was turning on (somehow) but was not holding as strong as it should. After some research i decided to upgrade to a pk543a and a tri volt transformer... i connected everything back as it was but I get a never ending beep from the outside intercom station and my dc wires from the amp is putting out 35v although i changed the shunts for 12v.. my transfer tests good for 8/16/24v when tested directly so thats not the issue. I would appreciate it if you can help me out. Thank you!
What voltage does this thing output? I’m working with one right now that was installed by someone else. It is using a 20v doorbell type transformer however the mag locks are all 12v.. when I test the wire at the mag locks I’m getting 20vac when I test using dc I’m getting around 8vdc I’m not sure how this person wired it up but I’m in the process of trying to figure it all out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
I have eight unit building on PK 543A and apartment 3 buzzer is not working. I checked and there is no current on the outside panel for that apartment and remaining are working fine. Please guide me as to how can I trouble shoot, thanks
