This has got to be one of the most beautiful sports moments in history. The cubbies finally winning after 108 years. I didn’t think I’d see it in my lifetime
Two teams with no less than 60 years of heartache behind them duking it out over seven games and ending in extra innings after a rain delay. Best. World. Series. Ever.
@@dhinton1 it was a 108 year drought vs a 68 year drought (now 73 years as of August 2022), we'll probably never see a championship matchup like this ever again in sports history!
John, aren't you the sourpuss? Ryan was pointing out what Jason Heyward meant to the team, and you have to bring him down like that. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything...
@@disneyfan8178 I think that Harry, Jack, and Ron must have been watching from the great sports bar in the sky. How couldn't they have been? Hey Hey and Holy Cow. I'm sure that my grandfather, God rest his soul, who started going to Wrigley in 1934, was looking down on this too.
I saw my first Cubs game at wrigley field in 1968, when I was four years old. My grandmother, grandfather, uncle and father raised me to be a Cubs fan, all four of them went to heaven before they could see the Cubs win the world series. Seeing the Cubs win was a very emotional moment for me 😢😅.
I was born and spent the first 23 years of my life on Sacramento Ave. near Belmont Ave. on the Northwest side. I was raised a Cubs fan and even visited the "confines" of Wrigley Field several times. Now that I'm in Norfolk, Va, I'm still a Cubs fan. Congratulations to the Cubs for winning the World Series in 2016. I hope that they can win more. How I wish that I can go back and see the "Cubbies" win it again. That would most definitely "make my day"!!! 🙂😛😍🥰
This was the best Birthday Present I could've ever asked for, happening just two days before it. And to have my Birthday declared Cubs World Champions Day in Illinois with a parade to boot..... awesome!!!! :)
I'll never forget that final out. I was at work and all of us nursing staff watching the game. Had anybody died, our celebratory screams would have woken up the dead.
I was one of the thousands watching right outside progressive field. what a rollercoaster this game was. A road of cubs fans could be heard from in the stadium after the final out that I'll never forget
I remember growing up watching the cubs games with my grandfather in Chicago. He passed away back in 2004. Lol i wish he could have stuck around another 12 years to see this moment.
When the Indians tied it, I curse out the TV and everything else. Went to the kitchen, took a couple of shots of whiskey and drank a beer, Then my other half said ":There's a rain delay". I went "Oh great, God really killing me slowly". What I didn't know was that it helped The Cubs to regroup and get back to what they were do best. Those final outs were nerve wrecking but when Kris Bryant grabbed that ball and threw it to Rizzo on first base, I just scream and cried at the same time. ,y partner who couldn't watch said "did they won", I went "fuck yeah The Cubs won & they're finally the Champs". I stayed up all night watching coverage from all the Chicago TV stations, ESPN & listen to local radio shows. I wanted to go to Wrigley but it was so late. I went the next day bought my championship hat & hung around Wrigley Field with thousands of fans hanging out. It was a beautiful feeling.
Games 6 and especially 7 required a lot of beer for me. I watched the games at my favorite restaurant in Chicago DuPage County suburbs because I didn't want to watch at home alone. I got a motel room for both nights so I wouldn't drive after games. I still felt effect of beer the following morning, but not for long.
Roby Rodriguez Dave Martinez was the first to grab and hug Madden. I was rooting for the Nats, especially after they beat the Brewers, Dodgers and Cards.
One of the best nights of My Life One of the most amazing baseball Seasons anyone could ask for. Thank you Joe Maddon💙 .. someday they'll be a statue of you out in front of Wrigley
My suitemates and I watched and as soon as the final out came the guys leapt off the couches and went wild...I just fell to my knees and shed a few tears this was totally awesome
If you watch closely at 9:59-10:04, you can see John Cusack celebrating behind Theo Epstein. His reaction definitely captures the excitement of all Cubs fans at that moment!
OscarBravoUSA there was no quit in the cubs either. Being down 3-1 in the series, then to basically lose the momentum when the Indians tied it in the 8th, just amazing.
Must have been an unusually warm fall night as there are a lot of tank tops but few if any coats worn. So glad they ended the drought finally. Bryant KNEW it would be an out with that big smile on his face as he grabbed the ball.
Everyone caught a huge break with the unseasonably warm weather in Cleveland and over weekend in Chicago, especially game 3( near 70 and wind blowing out). The weather, was cold and damp in Cleveland for games 1 and 2, however, and it was just as unpleasant in Chicago if series opened there. I think Cleveland is a worse weather city than Chicago. Last week of October and beginning of November is too late to be playing baseball in northern cities. But TV networks and big money rule, plus MLB gets away with it a lot because there's a lot of warm weather teams and teams with retractable domes. They're getting away with it this year too, with Atlanta and Houston. If Boston had won AL, games 6 and 7 would be in Boston Nov. 2 and 3, played at night of course. Perfect invitation for nasty weather.
Watching this in 2022 and remembering the best game ever..I'll always remember where I was when this happened and I got to meet Kris a yr later..such a dream come true..Go Cubs Go!!
Time has only made this more surreal. Like, the Cubs really won the World Series. I saw it. And 4 1/2 years later...it still doesn't feel like it happened. But like someone else said on another video, it took a 17 minute rain delay to end a 108 year drought.
Watching this sweet victory is getting us through the Corona, " let's play 2"! 47 years later. Santo, Kessinger, Beckett, Banks, Williams, Callison, Gamble, Jenkins, Huntley, Regan, Durocher, Brickhouse all won in 2016
My parents were lifelong fans of the Cubs having lived and grew up in and around Hammond, Indiana. They both passed away in the middle of the season so they never got the chance to see the Cubs make history. I know my mom would have gone completely nuts, running around the house screaming in joy and my dad would have popped a cold one and toasted Chicago 😂😂
This sht still makes me cringe to this day, I will never get over it. Thank you dad for making me in the North side! I'm a real Chicagoan North sider. Long live uptown and Logan Square!
I'm convinced this game took a year off of my life.
Only a year? I swear I had several close calls with heart attacks and strokes. I think it took 20 years off my life. So worth it.
Jeremy Ledbetter OMG Me too. I was a wreck.
What a W. !!! Gotta remember this series for years.

Best. World. Series. Ever.
I apologize. I thought me mentioning the extra innings was enough acknowledgement of the back-and-forth nature of the last game.
No worries. And I do agree. It made the teams feel a bit more like people and not superhuman athletes.
It had to be seven games of PURE INSANITY for the two baseball franchises with the longest droughts to compete in the World Series.
@@dhinton1 it was a 108 year drought vs a 68 year drought (now 73 years as of August 2022), we'll probably never see a championship matchup like this ever again in sports history!
Just noticed that Rizzo puts the ball in his pocket for to remember forever
He gave it to the Owner it’s in his office now
I noticed it the first time I watched it
Best World Series ever. The two longest droughts fought 7 games down to the end. You can’t script it better.
Never forget what Jason Heyward meant to this club. Never forget his leadership, work ethic, determination, and grit.

Greatest game I’ll ever see. Cubbies for life ❤️💙
No one talks about how big this was for Aroldis Chapman. He risked his life just to be even in the MLB and finally won it all.
He also risked the life of his girlfriend when he fired a gun in the house LMAO
You can see how close these guys are. You can also see how much David Ross meant to the team. His teammates admired and respected him.
