I feel like aliens, came down, ripped the top of my head open and shot a syringe of beautiful music in my brain! I’m truly blessed to have heard and will continue to listen to your covers my friend! Thank you, truly thank you!

      Jerry, what is happening my dude???? Well buddy - first thing is that I am so, SO sorry for the delayed response on my part. This has been a stretch where drumming time has been limited. I got home and started reading / responding and this one............dude, this has made my night!!!!! I mean that so damn much. Man, in addition to making me (genuinely) smile, the fact that you feel this way is all I need to feel like being on here is worth it. I am so incredibly grateful to be able to get on here and perform that I can't do a good enough job telling ppl how much I appreciate it. That said, thank YOU for being you and for being so amazingly kind my friend 💪💪👊👊🤘🤘🤘❤❤🤘🤘🤘

    This album was waaayy underrated. Trey f-ing flawless,as usual.

    • @TreyBDrums
      @TreyBDrums  Год назад +1

      To me, it was underrated and still is. Criminally. But, I do get it at the same time because Motley Crue - even as much as I love that album - is Vince, Nikki, Mick and Tommy (of course now there's no Mick so we'll see on that). I just wish they would have called this something other than Motley Crue. I don't think it would have helped record sales greatly but I do think it could have been a project Mick, Nikki and Tommy could have returned to so they could do another album. They wrote some great blues based rock on this album. It's cool to hear how natural of a progression it was from Primal Scream to all this. Anyways, sorry for blabbing. Appreciate you!!!

      What up Rich! I had to play SO damn much Crue in cover bands in the 90's, I got burned on 'em. Occasionally I'll go back and listen to stuff from Shout or Too Fast but not a bunch. Girls was a fun album too. And honestly, I liked Vince Neil's solo album and absolutely plan on covering one of his tracks. I still don't even consider this "Motley Crue". Hey Ryan! Thanks so much for being kind enough to check it out. The snare is often the star in the covers.....LOL! And for GOOD reason. DW Collectors 8x14 w/ Broken Glass finish. Standard Maple as best I remember. I still go back and forth for tracking with a number of others (5.5 x 14 / 6.5 x 14 occasionally) but that extra depth - while a pain in the nuts sometimes live since I prefer to sit low - is a bad boy. Got a very wide tuning range but it's got a lot of body. Really, really like that snare and it's still in circulation. Good chance one's on Ebay right now my friend. Thanks!

    AWESOME job on this one too!!! You’re clearly very familiar with the “sweet spots” on your kit......plenty of power in your hits but most importantly, in just the right spot to get the sounds you’re getting! 👌🏼👌🏼
    This being the first track on the album, I clearly remember how it nearly popped my old teac sound system back in the day 😂
    At the moment, I’m living through vids like these, my gear is in storage (has been for a few years now) until the new house is finished (with studio space 🙌🏼) in hopefully 8-9 months🙏🏻

Yes, it comes together with all the rest of them but he is the most distinct part of it. John 5 is an incredible / out of this world talent but they'll have to do some gear work to make his sound like Mick. If he doesn't sound like Mick, I'll be interested how it'll all go over. The dude is a monster drummer that hits like a freight train but with all that said, this album was his way of tipping his hat to Bonham and other influences. It's the only album that, to me, stands out so far from everything else. Bob Rock didn't hurt matters but Tommy's playing at this time was on a whole different level. Shout at the devil connected with me as a kid hoping to be a rock star. This entire album connected with me as I'd learned I wanted to be a drummer. • @TreyBDrums
      @TreyBDrums  4 года назад +2

      John, dude that's so kind of you. First and foremost, thank you for checking it out but the kind words mean the world. Dude, whatever I turned into is the result of a host of influences and the big ones are T. Lee, Randy Castillo, Eric Singer, Sean Kinney, Morgan Rose made the hair on my neck stand up - that was a wake up call, Vinnie Paul, Brian Tichy, guys like Will Hunt and Mr. Larkin is certainly in there. He's exactly the kind of player that made me watch. It branches off into dudes like Gene Hoglan, Lars, etc. But the biggies are dudes I don't really emulate. Jeff Porcaro and John Bonham - all about the song. Even if the style is more aggressive, it's still got to sit tight and fit with the song and the act. Not at ALL saying I'm as talented as any of the names I listed but I paid attention to what they were doing. Dude, I'd purposefully buy seats at shows on the side so I could watch the drummer. I'd buy VHS tapes hand over fist at Flea Markets.....LOL! Anything to watch how ppl played as a kid since I didn't have access to a drum teacher for miles. Anyways, sorry for the long answer but it's my way of saying thank you to you and to those players that provided that influence.

    • @johngold1849
      @johngold1849 4 года назад

      Trey B thanks for the response. I started playing with anything that looked like sticks and banging on chairs and whatnot. For many years I could not afford a kit. I just tried to play along with whatever was on the tv or radio. As a kid in the 70’s Peter Criss was a big influence. As I got more interested I started noticing guys like Bonham, Baker, Mitch Mitchell, Moon, Mcbrain, Tommy Lee, Eric Carr, Alex Van Halen, Tommy Aldridge and the like. Later it would be Jonathan Moffet, Omar Hakim, Carter Beauford, Clyde Stubblefield, Billy Cobham and of course the great Buddy Rich, I figured if I enjoy playing metal, it could only make me better. I’m currently into Simon Phillips. The man plays flawlessly with ease and amazing technique gives me goosebumps.

      What's up Federico! First, thanks so much for being kind enough to watch! So this kit has a 20'0 x 22'0 kick. I had intended to do this with a 24'0 but in hindsight I'm incredibly happy with the smaller kick. Now as for the sound, I'm using a Danmar metal pad, DW metal beaters, I've got the Sennheiser e602 mic along with an Earthworks internal mount. Outside kick has a Shure Beta. But on top of all of that, I still blend in a sampled sound. There's a process through Reaper's gate feature that allows folks to bring in the sample of choice and trigger it. I'm in a small room and I'm certainly no major engineer. Just home recording 101. But to my ears and my ears only, I really like the results I can get when I bring in all of those elements and try to make them work together. The sound is always a work in progress. I really do love trying to learn on that side of things all the time. I appreciate ya watching and I hope you have an awesome weekend! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
