Despite repeating the mantra that blades are less forgiving, we see the ball ending up within 15 feet of the pured one. Blades do not punish you for bad shots, they only tell you about them.
Brutus ofTroy Agreed.
I just ordered a combo set of 718 Mb PW-7 CB 4-6. I just love the feedback and the turf interaction.
The quality of the videos just gets better and better. I really appreciate these comparison videos. I love to see some Srixon 965 vs. well anything really. Thanks again for the content.
+Street11 thank you
Nice comparison review, Michael! I would love to see you review the Ben Hogan Ft Worth Irons!
I play blades because I love the challenge! Once you understand blades don't reward a bad swing. It takes confidence n practice! They aren't hard clubs to hit! And the feel is amazing!
Ricky, for the masses they are very difficult to hit. I am a now a 8-9 handicap (use to be a 3-4 and my confidence hitting blades was definitely there) and while they are the best looking clubs out there no doubt, they would not find a place in my bag right now due to no margin of error. Most need help with their ball striking and therefore these will be obsolete for most golfers. I'm glad you find them not so difficult to hit. Reality, you have to be a great ball striker to enjoy these consistently, IMHO.
Blades help you a lot more than power bats in terms of ball striking due to the increased feedback from the head. You can see and hear Michael himself repeating the mantra that they are unforgiving on miss hits despite the fact that on the vid the miss hit is landing close to the pure strikes.
Brutus ofTroy yea they spend to much time trying to discourage people from using blades. In my opinion the only really bad shots come out the toe hits! Agree they are not for everybody but I think a lot more golfers would enjoy them!
Good stuff Mike!
Looks like you hit them incredibly well to me. 👍
Why would you compare these irons with different shafts in them?
That adds a variable which isn’t necessary and makes the test less accurate.....
no it doesn't, that's why he hit two 35 degree clubs from two different manufacturers and they went the same distance to within 2 yards.
Brutus ofTroy so shafts make no difference then because he hit them the same distance? Is that really your conclusion?
A different shaft and different flex doesn’t load differently and produce different spins which result in different distances?
I'd imagine he's hitting two stiff shafts (those are demo heads he's using) 95% of it will be the head and strike, spin-loft is physics. On a driver fit you can adjust about 300rpm with the adjustable weights. Different designs of head can vary the rpm by 1000's rpm. Different designs of shaft vary the rpm by such a small amount you need a robot to test it.
So, if a swing robot hits a 50g senior flex and then hits a xx stiff 130g shaft using the exact same club head at the same swing speed, the ball will go the same distance?
yes, because the loft and club head, angle of attack and speed are the same.
