I'm quite sure that one of the four cylinders has some trouble. I guess that you have to check out the electronic wiring to the spark plugs, or there is some fuel flow error to the carburetors. It doesn't sound right.

He welded the coils to frame, more likely shorted them out
I think the engine is fuel injected not carburetor, so it will have throttle bodies.

You might want to rethink your clutch pedal ratio. At the moment it looks like your clutch is pretty much a switch. If you move the master cylinder push rod closer to the pedal pivot you will get more control, making pulling away much easier.

He might be able to register it as the CBR. If not, as long as he has kept most of his receipts or proof of ownership(receipt from go power sports) then he can submit to the registration office as a custom built motorcycle. They may ask for pictures of the braking components and power train to appease them that they are substantial enough for the road. Which it is by far lol.

Nick Stegall maybe we have it easier in Oklahoma and I agree that most states differ quite a bit. In Oklahoma I have my reverse trike registered as the Suzuki Bandit I built it from. Since it literally is a frame constructed onto the front of the bike. Ex. Jim Musser’s Sportcycle. I could also have went the constructed route and filed an “affidavit of assembly and ownership.” In that you list all the major components and purchase price along with any receipts or proofs of ownership. From that they can register a new title.

The problem is NOT GEARING, the problem is its not running proper, i would start there first, maybe spark plugs or new coils you shorted out welding on the frame, maybe?

As I mentioned before, this engine will not work well without its own air box. And it seems to me that it works on 3 cylinders.

This trike looks amazing, it has really nice lines! If you were to add a minimalistic body kit to it, it would look like something from a production line.

You said the extra weight? so that means that the bike with two fat people could not take off? NO, you might be running on only 3 cylinders or carb intake not right, and it would help if you knew how to work the clutch better, BUT your going to get into the engine so hopefully you will find what's wrong in there. Suggestion buy thinner wall tubing if you're going to make everything so big...

Judging by the fact it sounds like only 2 cylinders are firing and that's a wasted spark ignition system i'd say 1 of the coils are dead
Suggest you need more weight over the rear wheel, it was slipping on the wooden floor even with the standard gearing.
Motorbike wheels aren’t designed for the lateral loads they with see in this application.
People have been fitting sidecars to motorbikes for 100 years.... the wheels can cope with side loads...

I realize this is a little late, but I believe your drivability issue stems from the fact that you have removed the factory air box which has caused the engine to run lean. Check with Sigma6 for a jet kit. Great build!

You can upshift without the clutch by a quick shut of the throttle on motorcycles. A spark cutting quick shifter would be a lot of fun on that.
You should totally make a fiberglass shell for this!!!, that would be bad ass!! and make for an interesting video 👏🏽🤷🏽♂️💪🏽
You need to check out shinko tires, they have a dual sport tire that is flatter and would also give you more contact patch on the fronts. The knobbies would look BA. No offense but practice your clutch release skills
