In the early 90’s...Elroy came into a bar I owned....in Ft Wayne Indiana...he was approximately late 60’s....he was a good dart player and liked his beer! He was a lot of fun and the life of the party...rip sir.
My dad has spoken to this man many times, very nice dude he says. He was an athletic director at univerity of wisconsion my dad was a student, 18 years old.
The Rams have had stellar receivers: Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch, Tom Fears, Henry Ellard, Flipper Anderson, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, and possibly now, the elusive Tavon "Awesome" Austin.
Cool video, I didn't know much about crazylegs before this; I had heard his name before but I didn't know how good he was! The only drawback of this video unfortunately is that the narrator is contradictory, in the beginning he says most dangerous reciever since Don Hutson but then at the end he says he was the first of his kind?1 second ago•
thank you uncle Joe, for taking me to the Bills games when crazylegs was a real Buffalo Bills Star. I also had the fun of tenpin bowling with crazylegs many of those years in Buffalo.
he is called crazy legs because when gaining speed he "wobbles" due to his left foot points further outwards than a regular foot would. that is legit interesting.
My first job was a caddy at a WI golf course and I got to shake his and Nitschke's hand at a tournament. Both were extremely nice. I will be honest, I was 15 at the time and had no idea who he was but knew he was regarded highly. Definitely knew who Nitschke was as a Wisconsinite. Had to ask my dad and he was shocked. Looked him up and was pissed I didn't know he was one of the best WR's in history and his home town was in central WI!
Great wide receiver, no doubt. My brother played against Hirsch in high school as a member of the Blue Devils in Concord, California. He used to brag that he smeared Hirsch on one occasion. 😎
When I was in elementary school in the 1970s, I read a lot of books about football players; I was that unlikely hybrid: a nerd and a jock. Anyway, one of the books had a chapter about Hirsch. When asked what he thought of his nickname, he said it was better than Elroy.
Thats bc its a different kind of game today....there is alot more money in the game today between endorsements an higher salaries i hate when people try an compare things from 50 or 60 years ago..times are different people are different..the game is totally different...so if a player holds out for more money the popularity of the game made it that they could do that its 2020 not 1950 dude
they should let the league play with this type of uniform for one season..You know, bring back the memories of real bang head football. This is real football the fans would want to see.. This will definitely separate the men from the boys.
Well physically everyone is faster and stronger nowadays and I guess you've never been really injured at anything at life, especially if your career is at risk.
L.T is not on this list, I'm talking about Lawrence Taylor, these writers are the last on any list, and are zero stupid when it comes down to who is the greatest ever.

i live there crazy!!! what’s ur bar name might stop by
One of the best nicknames...old school names are the best
One of the BEST to ever take the field. In 1951...he had 66 catches for 1,495 yards...17 TD's
....in only 12 games!!!
thanks for these stats, the 1,495 in those days in truly remarkable. Thanks for sharing
Jim Cushman players struggle to get that today and now we have 16 games
Art Rooney: Don't forget Norm Van Brocklin's record that year. 554 yards passing, which still stands 66 years later.
If he played today he would get nothing
Jim Cushman tf? I didn’t know that woow
1:34 - Now that's a screen pass. You have 5-6 blockers running twenty yards downfield before encountering a defender.
My dad has spoken to this man many times, very nice dude he says. He was an athletic director at univerity of wisconsion my dad was a student, 18 years old.
Crazy legs is a beast, dude could shred defenses today with the rules the way they are.
I've read his book when I was in school dude was a rare amazing talent.
he could play right now. modern moves. stutter steps and misdirection. Crazy Good
Ed Reed made 6 accounts to dislike this when he saw his rating
Jayy Stepp that sounds like something ed reed would do.
I feel like some of these great players came back from the future and just took over the league
Crazy Legs, the legend 💪🏼
The Rams have had stellar receivers: Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch, Tom Fears, Henry Ellard, Flipper Anderson, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, and possibly now, the elusive Tavon "Awesome" Austin.
Dan Najera tavon Austin sucks. Pay him money he never earned
Don't forget to add Jack Snow and Harold Jackson!
Dan Nájera cooper kup
Danny Amandola
Superbowl MVP Cooper Kupp
The Rams unbeatable in 49.Im still a Ram fan. The passing was amazing.
He was an amazing talent
I think elroy should be in the hall of fame
Looks like he was innovative. for his time He even had a physique like the guys today.

I believe Hutson was more of a deep threat while Hirsch was a guy who could take a short pass and take it to the house.
thank you uncle Joe, for taking me to the Bills games when crazylegs was a real Buffalo Bills Star. I also had the fun of tenpin bowling with crazylegs many of those years in Buffalo.
Cooper Kupp real father right here😂😂😂.
😂😂😂😂
I'm going out to buy some Ovaltine right now!
Me too!
he is called crazy legs because when gaining speed he "wobbles" due to his left foot points further outwards than a regular foot would. that is legit interesting.
So so he was a dominant deep threat with a leg deformity. Receivers today really need to step it up

Go RAMS GO RAMS GOOOOO RAMS!!
This guy played the pilot in the 1957 disaster film Zero Hour!, which was parodied by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Airplane!
He’s taking those screen passes to the house. RB turned WR/flanker
Best nickname ever
Pure Wisconsin.
I remember number 40 crazy legs hersh
Im eating a fruit rool up while watching this
I’m in the shower
Rool ups? Hmm not sure I’ve had one of those. I’m currently depositing a rather large poop
I’m drinking milk
Follow that dream!
You should be having chocolate flavored Ovaltine, just like Crazylegs.
Now it's Cooper "Crazy Legs" Kupp
this guy is crazy one of the best WR ever in my opinion other than randy moss and jerry rice

Great hands.
Nick name alone qualifies him. An amazing talent.
Hes got a HOF nickname thats for sure
Elroys personality was magnetic like Roman gabriel and raiders george blanda
Probaby made $50.00 a Game and was happy to have it with no holdout for more $$$ too like todays babies

Awesome
When your chief rivals say you’re a bad man… that settles it.
Tom Fears allowed him to have one on one matchups.
His QB could huck that rock! Was that Norm Van Brocklin?
Bob Waterfield wore #7. Van Brocklin wore #'s 25 then 11. Both of them were hall of famers.
Proud to be a ram
Nice
Revis not locking him down tbh

Rams have ALWAYS been the greatest show
Im here for T.O.
Gutfox brought me here
How many championships did he win?
1x, 1951
I wonder if he would’ve been even better if he didn’t have the foot deformity and weird running style
Jackson B I would say so
Dude was raw
the ovaltine part was all i needed to see GOAT
HOLLYWOOD Hirsch (?)
I run just like Hirsch I thought I was the only one to ever run funny but then I saw this video and now I know I should try football
sounds like he was flat footed to me, also he played both sides of the ball
Madden thought he was a right defensive end
he was both
