    I have the ccp fastback top on an NB. Similar fitment but has mounting points to use the side latches and has a smaller trunk. It took some time to get it to fit right but I managed to get it fully waterproof, no wind noise on the freeway, doesn't squeak or rattle at all(I found the perfect seals to use for these tops that can be picked up at hardware stores) except I get a small squeak specifically when im driving sideways into a steep parking lot and the chassis is flexing like a wet noodle and puting a ton of load onto the top. But the top surprisingly does seem to minimise flexing a bit for those who track their car.

      What type of seal did you use and where?

    • @jrod1577

      @@Blingus69 I used foam pipe insulation I got from Home Depot to act as a seal from the top to the metal on the car. I cut in half long ways so that it fits just right. I chose that foam specifically because it can withstand constant changes in temperature and water.
      I also used foam insulation tape (primarily used for home weatherstripping and/or insulation) in all the other areas such as the parts where the fiberglass touches the car and around the trunk lid. I chose this because its fits in even the most complex gaps, resists heat and cold temperatures and is water proof. On top of that it looks good if you do it right.
      As for the windows, I used the OEM window seals. You have to take the mounting brackets off the convertible top and mount them to the fiberglass top, but use a black waterproof rubber gasket maker between the bracket and the top to seal for water and to fill in any small gaps where water can come in. From there the top was 100% waterproof.
      Note: its pretty easy to do but for me it was hard because I tried a variety of different seals/weather stripping and some worked okay and some failed entirely. I found these seals were the best to use because they were the cheapest, you can get them anywhere and they are easy to install anywhere you want. If you have a fastback top, or dont but plan to get one, experiment with different seals and see what works best since the tops are not all 100% perfect replicas of each other. But these seals conform to complex shapes so they seem to be the quickest and easiest way to seal reliably.

      @@jrod1577 thanks for the insight and timely reply! I’ll definitely use this info when I get the top

      Does the fastback roof comes off to put back the OEM hardtop or soft top (I have an nb and I like to have the soft top in summer but I'd like the CCP fastback for the winter)

    • @jrod1577
      @jrod1577 6 месяцев назад

      @@jbgrandeau9914 yes. But you have to uninstall/reinstall your OEM trunk. And you have to bolt it to the trunk rain channels if you want it to have a clean fitment. But you dont have to bolt it back there.
      However, I HIGHLY recommend using a variety of bolts in different unique sizes or grind your bolts down to make it permanent or incredibly hard to steal because you have to put in quite a bit of work to make it fit right for your specific miata. Mine was stolen a few months ago. Pretty upsetting considering all the work i put into it for some dumb guy with a dumb face tattoo to steal it. He partially cracked the top too as he didnt know what he was doing. Had a few dozen guys try to meet with the guy but the coward wont meet with anyone. I'd be scared to meet with anyone if I stole a rare item too because, 1. OBVIOUSLY the only used fastback top for sale was stolen and 2. we definitely were going to do things we can't mention on youtube to him and anyone who showed up to the meet. Werent even going to talk, just take action immediately so they have no chance to react.
      As far as I know, the guy never sold it, likely paranoid that anyone he meets with might be me or my guys. 😂 good. Live in fear.

    End: This makes me half tempted to try a fastback roof out of aluminum, and build a frame to support it, then fully weld it to the car. It'd be a massive pain in the ass, but interesting at least.

      I have the ccp fastback top. Smaller opening to accommodate a longer rear window. Its admittedly awkward to just put on the floor 😅 the ccp one is better set up for installing latches, though. I just never bothered.

    Reminds me of my miata. Mine was nice like this in 2017 and I had people attacking me constantly just at the gas station her in the USA. Mostly you know who people. Basically I delivered pizza in mine and people didnt like that at all. Mines been sitting since december of 2018. You are lucky. Covid has been bad here. Its like a civil war or something. Pretty much afraid to drive mine.
