Jennifer your hair really does look great and that necklace is so beautiful. 💕🌷
I have not watched the show as I heard it's rather raunchy. Smut is not of interest to me at all no matter how they dress it up. The time period on the other hand is one of my absolute favorites. Empire style dresses are the most flattering dresses I own, I love them and they are marvelously comfortable. I thought most homes already had at least 1 full tea service set, so I'm surprised and delighted it's having a resurgence in popularity. 😊

I'm afraid I've no opinion on Regencycore at the moment as I'm really disheartened to see the author of that Vogue article spelled "tonne" as "ton". Spellcheck is not a substitute for proofreading and my seventh grade journalism teacher would be horrified. Arrgh!

The corset top trend is kind of cute, but it also makes me giggle a little, because corsets and stays (stays were the undergarment worn during the Regency; corsets had not been invented yet) were never ever ever worn against bare skin. Putting the actresses in stays without a chemise underneath is a crime against historical costuming. (And don't get me started on the tightlacing, that wasn't a thing, especially with empire dresses.) I don't really see how the make up look has anything to do with Regency fashion. If you want the look, focus on clear skin, a little blush, and mascara, nothing more. They were all about the clear skin. I love the beautiful tea sets and wish I could drink tea! I'm glad elegance is coming back.

Natural make-up....yessss! I'm 58 and I've found that for me, less is more, and moisture is queen! I wear very little makeup, but always add a bit of light, cream blush and then mascara. Done! Great trend, in my opinion. Tea sets -- I have had a beautiful, floral, Japanese (second hand) tea pot for many years and I love it. Also....many various teacups and saucers -- some were gifted, some inherited, and some thrifted. You are SO right when you say, "You feel special when someone pours you tea from a beautiful teapot into a pretty cup." I agree!

I enjoy my humble Brown Betty teapots from England. They have an interesting history too. I find that they make excellent tea by allowing room for the tea leaves to swirl around. These teapots are available in Etsy shops and are in many second hand shops. I make tea for my husband who has been working from home for the past year and is much too busy to come down to tea. We joke that he is “nailed to his chair “
so I bring his tea to him. He enjoys his large cup of tea at 3:00 with a little bowl of fruit and a cookie. Brown Betty teapots come in various sizes. The small ones are very cute and the large ones are great for a party !

This is very interesting. I watched the Bridgerton series. I found myself fast forwarding through the “intimate” scenes, which were many, and overdone. I think Netflix thinks “ because we can” and throws them in to excess. That being said, the scenery and costuming was beautiful, and the story line was good. No need to make it racy in my mind. I have rarely done anything because I saw it in popular culture. I’m actually the opposite. Whenever something becomes popular, I immediately (and stubbornly) don’t want to buy, see or do it! I had heard of Bridgerton but didn’t watch it until my sister-in-law suggested it since she knows I love Jane Austen and that time period. But it has a modern day flair which is interesting, but not historically accurate, if that’s what you’re expecting.

I have always loved Regency style fashion. Thankfully, back in the 70's, when I was in highschool and college, it was in style. My favorite dress was blue velvet, with cap sleeves and an empire waist ( my mom made it) . I had a green one, and a white eyelet one too. Unfortunately, Bridgerton, was very explicit, and I fast forwarded through love scenes, and watched to see the dress and settings. I much prefer Jane Austin.
Soft, natural makeup and tea parties are always a win. I have used my teacups to bring beauty to the afternoon on these cold winter days. Thanks for the beauty you bring too, Jennifer. Enjoying your videos.

I'm a big fan of tea parties, even for one! One earth-friendly way to enjoy this trend is to pick up some pretty china and teaware at your local charity shop or Goodwill. Minimalists are discarded gloriously fancy china tea sets by the dozens, so rather than spend major money on a new teapot, rescue something lovely from a landfill, ask your mom or granny for theirs, or make friends with an elderly neighbor and help her enjoy her wedding china. I have several marvelous teapots I've gleaned through the years from the Goodwill and when I serve tea in them, in mismatched but pretty china cups, my guests are always delighted and feel very elegant and special. What's your favorite tea?

I thought Bridgerton was highly over-rated. Not for me. It's as though the producers were allowed to throw anything in so threw everything, resulting in a tasteless cocophony . Language was too modern, plot not much more than sex and some costumes so bright one needed sunglasses. And why the music from Maroon 5, Arianna Grande etc? To quote Mr Knightly(Emma) "It was badly done ,indeed! " There are far better British Regency dramas.

Bridgerton is based on a book series by Julia Quinn. The books are much more descriptive than the show. In other words, the books came first.
The show is toned down. It’s not meant to be Jane Austen. Maybe the costumes fooled some, but they’re like harlequin romances set in the 1800s. That’s about it.

Plus corsets are great for posture and filling out the feminine frame. Butttt corsets are not easy to find and they need to fit well. Bridgeton was brilliant and awful at the same time. I love the aesthetics, fashion and the hair styles. I had no idea it was so racy. I watched it through to the end as I wanted to know what happened however, the duke taking of Daphne’s glove was all that was needed. We didn’t need all the graphic sex scenes. I have watched Bridgerton and (another minority vote here) loved it. I was definitely shocked at first and haven't read the books so I'm unsure if they are also *spicy*. I typically don't like modern elements in era movies/shows...I think knowing it was based on a recent book series, as opposed to a classic, helped in overlooking those issues and I was able to enjoy it.

Okay clearly a lot of people here have no idea that Bridgerton is a book by Julia Quinn that although it is set in the Regency era, the book itself is a racy, romance novel. The book in itself is very detailed in it's well, words. I am so sorry that you thought this would be another Jane Austen.

I was comparing the genres , so to speak . Yes , i knew the series was based on a book by Ms Quinn. Sorry , if my point of comparison was not clear.

    • @dianaragub-schwartz4416
      @dianaragub-schwartz4416 3 года назад +2

@@MtHa-yu2sf there is really no point of comparison. I wonder why people are forcing it. Julia Quinn wrote the book with the knowledge and background of a 21st century writer as opposed to Jane Austen who wrote her books in the 19th century. There is like over 200 years of worldly differences in that span of time. People's nuances, culture, tradition, has evolved and changed. People thought Jane Austen's books were ahead of her time, since women writers were unheard of during that time.

Cottage core seems maybe easier to pull off - romantic, simple, a little more country. Also, on the subject of your hair, which does look really fabulous by the way, what I want to know is how your stylist is cutting your hair?? What kind of layers is she/he giving you? That to me makes one of the biggest differences in the health of our hair - the cut! This was a fun video. 😊👍🏻

Hi, I read online that the suffix -core, is extracted from the phrase hard core, which emerged in the 1930s meaning “an irreducible nucleus or residuum; also a stubborn or unyielding minority.” It was used in the late 70s music scene to denote different genres. It was then adopted by the movie industry and branched out from there. Now it's ubiquitous, almost to the point of losing its meaning. So, for example, "cottagecore" would refer to the elements at the center/heart of the cottage look.

In the early 19th century women wore stays, not corsets. These were a normal undergarment worn over a chemise (not against the skin like in the show) that provided bust support.
