Thanks for another year of fantastic videos in and around Carlisle. Everything from the mundane to the magical caught by your wonderful photography. It is really appreciated. Seasonal Greetings to you and yours
Hi Les A very happy Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for a great years videoing especially in America. Question where does the 66 run round its train on the Biggen Hill to Tyne yard?
The trains to and from from Kirkby Thore (aka New Biggin) run around in Carlisle Yard, there being no direct line from the Settle Carlisle line to the Tyne Valley line.
Hi Leslie , I use too live over looking the west coast mainline and enjoyed watching 50s , 37s , 86s and 87s and the occasional 85s come through . Now live in Arizona . I like your videos brings back lots of memories. Does Ian Allen still do the trainspotter books with the loco numbers in ? Are they available on Amazon ? One of my many memories was at Bristol seeing the Co-Bo tooked beside a shed . And Kings Cross seeing the Deltics . Kind regards Andrew .
Thats good to know. Ian Allan ceased trading many years ago now but a firm called Platform 5 do similar books on an annual basis. Check Platform5.com first for their titles and then on amazon.
Big small day Saturday happy Solstice the shortest daylight of the year. But to the casual observer you will not be able to tell the days getting longer till about the 25th.
Thanks Les nice varied selection of locos..Just loved the two class 37s with snowploughs which will make short work of any snow drifts on the line.
Many thanks!
Another great video Les awesome footage again as usual top man . thanks for sharing , take care a t b Syd👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Love seeing the ploughs. Only way it could be better is to see them in action. lol Great mix, Les!
I'd like to also - but in all likelihood the action would be somewhere remote and I;d be keeping warm at home

Some length them goods train's Les at least you got a good day top man 👍
Thanks!
Another fantastic video @LeslieGilpinRailways & it looks like they snowploughs have been abandoned for years with the grime over them
I don't think it has snowed enough for a long time for them to be properly used. Some headed to Slateford I think this afternoon
66's everywhere. Nice one Leslie.
Yes not enough 70s lol
With the snow ploughs how are the drivers seeing out the front for signals and the like?
I don't think there is much of a view out of the front...
I reckon the view is similar to a steam loco - and the West Coast guys are used to those!
Beatiuful video ,greetings 👍🚂
Many thanks

How can drivers see through the plough is there a camera
They have a limited view at the upper sides of the plough but otherwise the view as is driving a steam loco
