After reading John Green's most recent book of essays that started out as a podcast (The Anthropocene Reviewed), I get the feeling these corny metaphors and characters who constantly try to find purpose and meaning in random things, are just a part of who he is or wants to be. It's a trap that many people who love literature fall into where everything becomes symbolic or metaphorical. I get it though, I think a lot of writers are afraid to create something that might possibly mean nothing, or be interpretted as meaning nothing so he makes sure every reader knows that all his books have a message.
Honestly I get where you're coming from. I'm not sure if I agree completely, I think finding meaning in every thing is a conscious choice we make simply because it feels good. However, even I'll admit sometimes he be doing the most. But it's better to be extra than be less, no?
@@tosin_is_hungry Yeah, I definitely agree. I think it's an interesting mindset to write from. Plus, since, often, his characters are going through some kind of tragic event, it makes sense. Sometimes that's just what you've got to do to get through it. I think I was just trying to explain and understand him better. That's probably the way John Green deals with difficult times too.
