My bucket list for future lenses are 16mm f1.4 for street and macro kinda shots and the 59-140 for sports and wildlife with an adaptor to give it extra reach...that my expensive bucket list....Great vid as always and look forward to the next

      tb- photography great review man, thanks a lot. I sold my 16mm 1.4 to get the 14mm 2.8, and I haven’t looked back; to me, 14mm is a more interesting focal length than the more common 16mm; 14mm, to me, better conveys the sense of scale/vastness/epicness etc of landscapes. Btw, love the 10-24; it’s my favorite travel lens, together with the 16-55 f2.8. Although that 8-16 still lures, too...;)

    As a landscape fotographer you will normally hike to your location. Typically you have some subjects on your hike that you want to shoot at minimal distance in order to get a "macro with surroundings". I found sharpness getting real bad on some Fuji lenses like the 23mmf2 when it comes to minimum distance.
    At which distance you made your sharpness tests ? Would find it very interesting to see sharpness at minimum distance and at infinity.
    Thx so much for your brilliant wide lense super test. Love it !

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography
      @ThomasBusbyPhotography  3 года назад

      I did some tests after viewers mentioned this, at about f/4 and minimum distance things were very sharp for me. But this was a eye ball, not a chart test.

    Thank you for this balanced and excellent review! I have two unrelated questions which I hope you don't mind me asking here. Do you use UV Protective Filters with your lenses and do you think they diminish the optical quality of a lens?

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography
      @ThomasBusbyPhotography  9 месяцев назад

      I don’t use any extra glass unless I need their benefit.
      I’ll use a UV filter if there is a high chance of something hitting my lens but otherwise I don’t.
      But I also have insurance with an excess the same price as a really great filter, so for me the risk is easily worth it and I have never damaged a lens yet so the money has been well and truely saved.
      Yes I think very slight effect image quality, same as shooting wide open or not using a tripod etc, on their own each doesn’t make a difference, but combined if you do everything perfect you get this slight noticeable bump in image quality that no one but the best of the best achieves

    Great info but can I ask if you have used a square filter kit with it? The reason I ask is that Ive moved from the 100mm Lee kit to the Lee seven5 75mm kit and if I bought this lens I'm wondering if the filter kit will show in the frame at 10mm, great vlog 👍

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography

    I've had my eye on this lens, but I've also had my eye on the 8-16mm f/2.8. If I had to choose one, I'd like to go 8-16mm, but it is more expensive of course. Kia ora Thomas! great review!
    That said, having used both this and the 8-16 ( on its way to you lol), I would buy the latter. Super sharp at all apertures and the corner sharpness is astonishing. And yes, it holds up in Milford Sound under a waterfall!
    However....i reckon, bang for $$$, the 10-24 would suit most photogs just fine. The 8-16 costs 4 hearts, 2 livers and 19 spleens, and I am not sure most would see the difference. only those with terminal GAS...

    Totally agree with your review! This lens is incredible. I’ve been using it for a year now and wouldn’t use 23mm or 24mm. I actually don’t mind the quality of 10 and 11mm if I need to go that wide. I have noticed though, when I’m casually shooting and I have on the wide focus mode on, it tends to focus more on things on the right side of the screen. Almost like a magnet unless there an obvious object on the left. I’d say there’s an 80% tendency to focus on the right. I’ve updated the lens’s firmware and also used it on my X-T2, X-T3, X-H1 and X-T4. Would like to know if you’ve had this experience as well. Thank you!
