UMG just filed a 140 page dismissal just as you posted this. The irony of this news coming out the same day we get a new commercial for the Halftime show
@@denisehyman6668I was just about to post this but considering the crossover between the defamation petition in Texas and the defamation lawsuit in NY their motion might give insight to the motion they'll eventually file for the NY case
Currently reading the 144 page motion to dismiss from UMG. Drake is cooked. There's so much law on the side of UMG, they're citing examples every other paragraph and Drake has very little law (if not any at all) and Ak on his side. UMG is basically halting everything Drake asked for by asking the court to dismiss based on Anti-Slapp law. Best of luck to Drake fighting that.
Pusha T has had soooo many interviews, after The Story of Adidon, where he has talked about features being taken off of other rappers albums because people thought he was taking shots at Drake. This is why Drake thought UMG would censor Kendrick on his behalf.
I feel like Drake is actually over, not like "Oh, he's done for like 3 years, then he comes back" NO, straight up over, and it's all mostly by his own fault
Not necessarily. He is regurgitating what JBP has been saying. Let’s not forget that the very same happened with Lupe and Frank Ocean when they wanted to get out of a deal. Lupe wasn’t able to express himself artistically the way he wanted when signed to Atlantic and his last album Tetsuo &Youth was his best body of work (according to him). Frank Ocean wanted more musical independence from Def Jam so he bought out his contract, dropped Endless as his last album with the label and then dropped Blonde literally the next day. I don’t know Drake’s contractual agreement with UMG but perhaps he has an extension amount of music to fulfill. That could explain the lack lustre projects he has been dropping for the past couple of years 🤷🏿♀️. However, this can just be a theory.
@latebloomer177 he meant his other comments defending Aubrey and his actions. Not particularly wanting to get out of his deal or putting out lack luster music to fulfill his contract
8:30 had he moved on, Drake would have avoided most of the backlash, HOWEVER, he hasn't shown much music growth since 2016, so unless he did exactly that, most people would have got tired of his same ol' same ol' crap regardless. He's had a very long career for somebody with such a small artistic range
He's coasted off of pop music for women and lots of features. The beginning of his downfall was him burning his bridges with women in favor of courting the toxic manosphere bros. The nail in the coffin was him burning bridges with the artists who have helped him get his biggest hits.
This was a very very dope, constructive conversation. I see where Friday was coming from, I do….but nah 😂 I see no scenario where Drake’s moves have been calculated or even sensible. He is shooting himself in the foot. There’s no strategy to this. And that’s what makes me believe Kendrick when he said that those around him may not be as willing to participate in his spoiled games. Nobody around him seems to push back when he makes these missteps.
Monie's 3 options was on point. Actually, all of y'all are on point. I'm gonna coin a term right now, feel free to run with it. Online Avengers. This is the squad. I like watching all the streamers' and podcasters' takes but the line up right here is top shelf. I want to check y'all Online Avengers covering a multitude of topics (within the confines of hip hop as well as a bit more macro... let's examine the world through a hip hop lens)! I mean, wayaminit, hold up... here me out. I'm 49. As a kid, I read Avengers comics... specifically, West Coast Avengers. I was so into that, that in '95 my then-partner and I put a demo tape together entitled West Coast Avengers (we're from L.A. and had a crew). There were different Avenger teams, and Online Avengers is y'all. Wrote a song about it, like to hear it? Here it go... And I'm Geno of Mellow Tonin' (GrayMedium Music). Keep it up.

Drake really is the most ridiculous figure. Shakespearean shakedown took him down! So enjoy these conversations - and these snippets are great to rewatch as well!
I feel as though there are two lines of demarcation for Drake: there's post beef Drake and then there's post beef/post lawsuit Drake. I'd be curious to see how any Drake music charts after this lawsuit.
Justice for JaRule 😂😂😂 People act as if 50 made JaRule disappear! At the height of the battle, the FBI raided Murder Inc (Or The Inc) right? That's why he wasn't able to make music for a while... He never did any of this stuff that Aubrey is doing to himself....
Ja Rule took it on the chin for real. Recently, I read somewhere that 50 actually filed a restraining order against Ja. Did you know about that? I had no idea. Then, with the FBI raid, Ja was unable to release music. So it seems Ja's hands were tied on that beef - he couldn't move/record disses how he wanted to.
This friday guy is crazy!! Nobodies been thinking about the music not being good?? Youre sitting in a call with a couple people whove BEEN thinking about it AND talking about it!! The stuff these drizzlers come up with is just insane to me!!🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂 Edit: Monie likes to say the TRUTH stuff!!😎😎💪💪
In hindsight, maybe Lawbrey has always been the prototype for an AI rapper. He exudes a false bravado, acts as though he’s from the streets, jacks/emulates the flow and style of others, employs ghostwriters, utilizes multiple fake accents. It’s like he was created in a lab and pushed by the industry. Inauthentic to his core. Not a fan of AI music. But at least with AI rap, record labels won’t have to deal with arrogant, narcissistic artists with Peter Pan syndrome.

I like @chillingwithmonie take on the AI option. Drake was the first to sample and clear an AI created sample with BBL Drizzy for the Sexy Red Song, then he used 2pac and Snoop voice for Taylor made. Before that the AI song ‘ Heart on my Sleeve’ used him and The Weeknd likeness was huge on the internet by Ghostwriter. I feel UMG would like to rest the waters more and invest which they eventually did.

What Friday is saying about Drake releasing mediocre music till he can get out from his deal is actually not absurd at all.
