Good point! And if they're on the side of rich people then stop making music talking that fake ghetto fake gangsta stuff trying to appeal to a crowd that you clearly don't even identify with

This is the 2nd awful take I’ve seen in a week. He said Kendrick didn’t call Drake a pedo cause he said pedos lol. I’m with Kendrick 101% but he horrible in the debate setting
@ if he didn’t call him one then he hella implied it! 😂. But he did ask for it.
Like meg Beyonce and the rest that performed for the Indian vp?
Snoop Dogg isn't even human anymore. He's just a walking advertising bot. I don't even identify him as a musician.
I think about the lil tiff he had with KDot. Aubrey made Taylor Made Freestyle that had an AI voice of Snoop. Everyone else thought it was extremely disrespectful. Some time later, according to Snoop, his team gave him a paid tweet promoting that song, and he posted it without paying any attention to what was in the tweet.
Honestly, that tell your everything you need to know about his character. Forget KDot being mad. I would be ashamed to promote a song that specifically disrespected me.
Low key he’s hip hops version of the Rock. Super popular but at this point he’s just a fence sitter smh

Some of y'all need to stop making excuses for people because MONEY.
Capitalism crushes all critiques or subsumes them into itself because of this exact mindset. We ALL need to stop accepting behavior just because someone got paid. If money is all it takes to forget your morals and principles, then you didn't truly hold those values.

It's dope but she was wrong saying that we forgive Black men easier. Only Chrisette has been cancelled. But how many Black men have been cancelled? Did she forget that Kanye was CRUCIFIED for supporting trump. The only reason why Chrisette didn't recover is because she doesn't have the catalog to fight through the backlash.
@@PardonMyPresenceKanye just got off selling out & packing Chinese arenas. He literally hasn't missed a step in the way that some are trying to spin. You don't sell out Mercedes Benz Stadium (a FEW times) for a live listening party, of an incomplete album, if you've been cancelled across the board. That's a false equivalency between Ye & our sister.

What pushback? That Black men are forgiven easier than black women? Name me the Black women that are cancelled? Is Mary J Bleige cancelled for being with minors? Is Meg cancelled for assaulting her ex bf and joking about it? People forget that Kanye was CRUCIFIED for supporting Trump. No one lost more than he did. Let's be honest Chrisette suffered bc her music catalog is trash so she had nothing to work with to fight through the controversy. Kanye snoop r Kelly all made music to fight through it.

Monie ATE DOWN on that Chrisette Michelle point. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Actually she didn't. She tried to paint a narrative that chrissette "Who i love" got backlash that men dont. Yet we killing snoop, diddy, etc. Literally made no sense. Who is forgiving these guys. This is a class issue not a gender one
This is definitely a class issue. You also have to mention that Chrisette Michelle, a very talented artist did not hold the same exact commercial appeal that a Snoop Dogg, Kanye West or Diddy held. While I believe morals should be the center point of any artist’ focus, her view was actually about increasing her audience under the guise of being patriotic. Her career suffered because she didn’t have the same pull as her male counterparts. Despite us holding male artists accountable, the artists that have been controversial are able to survive a bit based on their commercial success. If that were a Beyoncé or a Rihanna, the argument may have held weight a bit better with accountability for male vs female artists.
@secretboss18 Now, this is a good point.
This conversation really made me start looking at some of you in a different way. not for the better.

Curtis is the perfect example of not knowing when it’s not his turn to talk.
He sold out years ago. He's a notorious flip flopper. Don't forget how he flip flops on pac, biggie.
Exactly! He tells the story himself and people still don't want to believe him about who he is.
Yep
Pay? Pay? 47 doesn't pay ANYBODY. he has several law suites from former employees and vendors of him not paying them. A leopard doesn't change his spots
He doesn’t even pay taxes!
Snoop has never been loyal to anyone or anything.
He switched up on Kendrick and Em. It felt weird each time and now I expect him to back stab on the regular.
But his family and I support that. Why are you expecting snoop to sacrifice his family for you? Why do Black artists have that burden? They weren't the only ones performing. Where's the scrutiny for the other artists? Why are they able to make money without the backlash? Without having to justify it?
People probably assume that those others are actually performing for someone that they voted for and supported and believed in their candidacy. If they publicly didn't support the person, maybe people feel that they sold out.

In black culture, we've been taught to look up to those with the most wealth; the rappers the athletes, the influencers as opposed to the teachers, doctors, clergy, the everyday humble man who does his best to care for his family. It's definitely a mentality of "you're broke (you're not famous or a multi millionaire) what are you going to teach me?" Money doesn't equate to wisdom or morals or leadership. Yet we're groomed to follow this rapper who has "made it". The vast majority don't care about anyone but themselves, and maintaining the lifestyle that they now have, and they'll do anything to protect it... Slavery taught us that if the master likes me more than you, and makes my life easier than yours, than I'll do whatever I have to do to maintain that status quo... Stop expecting these rappers to be your moral compass.
Shout out MONIE❤🎉❤
Monie is speaking FACTS!
Monie is speaking absolute truth. These artists are essentially co-signing all of this bullshit by accepting this gig. I'm very disappointed in all of them.
@Monie thank you! You made people think.
Snoop is the same damn person he's been since the 90's. If you're shocked by this ether you're new here or you're hard headed. Take your pick which one you are.
He deserve all the heat that comes to him he went from F trumb and who go and perform there i will flame him to let me get the check from trumb because that's the trend
So yeah he is clown and deserve to be called out
Thank you. I’ve been telling my family this.
They touched on some strong points in this. One of the main ones is championing these people on tv that you don't even know. Obama has more in common with Trump than he does with us. They're rich wealthy individuals. All of these people are in the 1%. They entertain for us and get down to business with each other. Until people realize that they'll be stuck.
Pure facts. Snoop album cover with the tomstone, his government name & the DOB-DOD on it was him literally showing that. People were saying all kind of theories about the song "one eighty seven" was the case being something or the other (be it Suge, "the illuminati", or some spiritual stuff). No that song was exactly about situations like this, when they can embarass someone in a very big way & laugh at it. Jay Z went through the same thing at an event some years ago. Snoop was feeling himself too much & during another election with Trump (had to have been 2016) Snoop posted a live where he was brushing his collar off and talking about Black artists who would perform at a Trump election event. He thought he was above getting put on spot like that, by the very forces he talked about on "one eighty seven" was the case. They bided they time & said "oh this a perfect moment to remind him that he owes us & show that the oath lasts forever". If one been on some awareness, then this ain't a suprise. A lot of cats are on subversive funny style stuff because they owe.
All the stuff Diddy been doing could have gotten him where he is today, a decade ago...if not longer. They been knowing what Diddy was like. They made him & enabled him. But when he decided he was just as equal as them truly wealthy capitalists & decided to sue...welp here comes all the things people had knew about being put down on public record, along with 👮♂️🕵️♂️ knocking at the door.
It's all a game out here.
@@Kuhmodo u can have more in common with trump. True freedom
I'd have to listen to what Curtis has to say more to get a read on why he said what he had to say here. It hits a little weird how often he seemed to want to back away from why people are upset at these rappers (for reasons pointed out by OME, Monie, and others) and instead focusing on the folks upset at this behavior for being upset. I didn't much like what Jeremy had to say either, tbh.
I don't think the people criticizing them are looking to Snoop or Nelly for their moral guidance. I think they're upset at those people for being given the success they have been by the culture (and the people that make it up) to then turn around and turn their backs on those very same people. I think people want, and rightfully expect for those who have been given what they have not to turn around and sell those very same people up a river for a few dollars regardless of what mouths you got to feed or if we're being real, what luxuries you want. Nelly can pay his bills just fine taking smaller shows if maybe he considered making those bills a little smaller.
It was frustrating for me for Monie to make great points and for her not to be engaged at all on those points. That doesn't require malicious intent. It can be as simple as folks not understanding, but it doesn't make it less frustrating.
Thank you for the feedback and watching the show!
@TheCompanyMan appreciate you putting in the work necessary, and consistently, to put out something worth watching, fam!
This all said, to be fair to Curtis, I think he has a very good point about people assuming shared values. And to Jeremy's point, it is a good thing for us to talk about our beliefs openly. We can't do anything about it (we can't even talk about it) if people aren't open about their beliefs and values. So, on those points, I wanted to make sure I voiced agreement. I don't want to be unfair to what I think folks are trying to get across.
This channel is a beacon...we need spaces where we have honest discussions about our culture and not just blindly support or denigrate. All the participants make me very happy.

I think selling out the culture you made your bag off of just cuz you got some new grift or a personal favor was done for you deserves backlash and loss of access to the culture. Problem is we've been taught to worship and identify with the rich.
17:05 Prof Skye it's very possible Run the Jewels allowed their song to be licensed out and weren't strict enough with what their music couldn't be used for. They didn't perform IN the commercial, very different than snoop. Commercial music is licensed through an agency.
No surprise the BLACK WOMAN GETS IT. Thank you Miss Monie!!! ✌🏾🫡

These are people they admire the most. These are people that they emulate. These are people that they feel they understand them. These are people they still have the integrity to stand 10 toes down on what they say if you are against racism and the downfall of Black people you wouldn’t have taken that money.

Yes there is a picture with Snoop and Trump. But Snoop hasn't been Snoop for decades...and maybe he never was (to hear Tupac tell it)
One word;
MONIE!❤❤❤🎉🎉 Thanks for saying what needed to be said 👍🏻
Monie made a great point...but she gotta get some headphones because that feedback hearing everybody's voice through her mic was killing me
If you’re willing to forego your morals for money, then they’re not morals they’re price tags. Snoop and the others have done the very definition of selling out. It’s discouraging to see people that have called themselves “pillars of the culture” completely discard that in the name of money or 31:25 whatever else it could be. If we refuse to stand for anything we will fall for anything and we’re seeing just how easily our leaders will fall.

@@Cleanblack00I think Redman is still a little off. It’s the people, but what are the people’s motives for the evil? It’s like when people say “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” But what makes it easier for people to kill people? What is the most effective way to do so? Etc. even outside of the Bible, I still think it’s the LOVE of money. The only reason it’s important to state that is because it’s the difference in the moral character of the person. Think of million dollar companies that stay American based and make a very amount of proceeds go to a good cause (like Toms Shoes, not saying they are perfect), versus Temu/Schein who have slave labor and child labor in other countries because it’s cheaper allegedly. This is not an attack on you, just stating why some of us may feel the need to correct that.
Yeah Chrisette Michele was done so dirty. She deserves an apology from the media.
She doesn’t deserve an apology in my opinion, because she cared more about money than what it looked like to be performing for a blatant White Supremacist. And how her people who support her may feel about it. But Indo think Monie made an EXCELLENT point about the sexist double standards in forgiveness and we should have more discussions about this. Trump didn’t even meet Crisette Michelle. He just wanted to use her for appearance Purposes. She was shocked that she didn’t get a chance to meet him and her life and career were turned upside down. Snoop probably wasn’t aware he was going to try to revoke the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that MLK died for either. That’s why you don’t get involved with that kind of man period.
@marklap1224 No, it's the black community that owns CM an apology. White people didn't cancel CM. Black people did!

yall need more Black women on there or people who know more than hip hop if you are going to talk politics. Monie brought up a great point that was largely ignored. Also there is a difference between going to work to make ends meet or 150k. and publicly supporting Trump so that you can buy a yacht. disappointed in tall the Black Men here.
i think the discussion is wrong. its not about black and white people its about rich people and the rest of us poor. always been like that, and talking about race is a divisive game that the rich put us all into to distract us. i have more in common with a poor black man than he has in common with snoop or nelly or souljah boy. remember its not black vs white but its rich vs poor.
It's both.
Snoop Dogg has always been selling out. He made an album called “Hard White” with the southside Crips that killed Pac. He dissed Eminem, venom made a song with him after Eminem called him out, and he kind of did the same with Kendrick.
He has always been jealous of Em and now seems jealous of Kenny. They all be acting jealous of whoever is Dre’s new “money maker.”
President Barack Obama, being cordial towards Donald Trump, only tells me he has more of a forgiving heart than most. First Lady Michelle Obama is not so forgiving.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Obama takes his responsibility and example of democracy seriously. The American people spoke, so he accepted their voice. Trump did not. He tried to take the American people’s voice away from them, and did not go Biden’s Inauguration. When he announced that he wasn’t going, Biden said the feeling was mutual but VP Pence was welcome to come. And he did come. Pence was the real President, you can tell by how he acted on Jan 6. Him and Nancy were taking care of business. But the President has to ask the National Guard for help. Not the VP or Speaker. And the Mayor did not have the power because she is not a Governor, which she should be!
Its called he half white and Michelle isnt...which is y they let him in office to begin with smdh.
@@s.m.ts.m.t2540 that's not forgiveness ..its protocol. President Obama will be a President for life, they have to attend certain public events. their wives aren't public figures, Ms. OBAMA or any first Lady isn't obligated to make public appearances.

Its irritating asf. Why doesn't one of the other people say something, I stopped listening too soon.
An unpopular opinion: these rappers might not be rich after all, and are desperate, but they want to keep up the lifestyle. So certain stances are gone.
In snoop’s case, dude just made like 12 million from the Olympics a few months ago, and he’s been making millions upon millions for multiple decades. If he’s not rich, that is a personal problem, not an excuse for him to wh*re out his own people.
Cmon, you cant use Obama sitting at a funeral besideTrump. Thats just nonsense
I really hate the example with Obama. No one else was talking to Trump, they’ve had a job very few people have had. Michelle wasn’t even there.
We can't really compare a former head of state to snoop though. Obama has obligations on the world stage that entertainers do not. Also he's always at least going to try to appear to take the high road rather than wallow in the muck. Some of these false comparisons are why trump is president again. Neither party is perfect or always right but one tried to move in one direction however slowly and the other is moving to reverse all movement at all. Snoop had a different obligation and we see what he chose. Move accordingly.
He acted like he always had. He was not out of character.
Everybody forgot out President Carters' service and the speakers' kind words and instead watched facial expressions and body movements. Mind- boggling!

I think that an opportunity was missed to actually delve into the heart of what Monie said because there was also a BM who performed with her that day who flourished, Kanye did as well. There was a preacher at the ball as well who performed MLK's speech. There was also a BM who said that 47, meant that daddy was home. This is bigger than rappers, this is BM willing to sell out their community to gain favor in yt spaces. We can support each other and not be a monolith. You can buy crypto without selling your soul. There are no principles and that's why many of us are checking out.

Thank you, Monie for saying what had to be said!!!!
Obama sitting and chatting with 47 is definitely starkly different although also annoying but that's his literal job. Former Presidents are still beholding to the public but rappers don't have to be there to benefit from government tax breaks for the rich.
The capitalism apologia flying around this episode honestly a lil bit disgusting

Disagree with most of the takes on here. Y'all too nice to these rappers. They are sell outs. If Nipsey, Tupac, Kendrick or whoever performed there then they would be too. My grandparents fought for them to have the right to perform in front of those crowds. Its pathetic and they should be judged HEAVILY.

I don't think it had anything to do with them selling out or their income bracket, it's viewpoint. Some views are outdated.
The bottom line in this or any conversation we all sell out to a certain degree, the difference is the bag you are selling out for, and can you live with yourself morally after you have sold out...

What about the people that DID NOT vote?
How can I be mad at people who used their right to vote? Meanwhile, the ones who didn't vote or wouldn't dare vote for a woman sat on their ssa. Ask them how they feel.
@hammerg434 all of the turn coats are extremely quiet...since they've sold the rest of us down the river except the whinning celebrities and their fans! All should stop being disingenuous by trying to convince people selling us out for "a bag" is acceptable!
@hammerg434 especially those who didn't vote! I'm curious to see what certain bloggers have to say...especially the ones who told their audience their vote don't count and or to not vote at all. A whole lot of other black people sold the rest of us down the river and pretending nothing is going on or solely focusing on these celebrities. Alot of people are being disingenuous on purpose!
@@hammerg434oh those people make me furious
@Dontbadummy Media spoke about President Obama smiling at tRump for a week and STILL are.
If this is what the media focused towards "us" are talking about for a week before a maniac waltzed into the WH, we're doomed.
I don't believe what Snoop did had to do with money but with having a Leverage, Get Out of Jail Free, and Good Graces Card. I believe he's finally put to rest, anyone with lingering, questions of him being a Fence Rider.
If Snoop is good, they might let him stay in the main house. Yes, suh. Sho will, suh.
Not to be that guy…but ACTUALLY…Hammer had his own cartoon called Hammerman. Bo Jackson, Jordan and Gretzky were on a cartoon called Pro Stars. Everybody and their Mama had a cartoon in the 80s and 90s, Saturday mornings were great.
ironically kendrick kinda showed us that Snoop’s not like us …
made Katt williams and them proud
This was a beautiful discussion.
