I have watched several of your videos today and oh my! I just wish I had seen your videos first. Had I found you first, then I could have saved hours of experimental cell concoctions, hours of experimental paint pour medium recipes (seems every artist has their own) and hours of video viewing and hours of frustration, not to mention the money I've spent on Amazon. I just about have tried every pouring and blowing technique on youtube and have learned a lot by trial and error. I will totally recommend new pour artists to watch your videos first!
Thank you so very much for taking the time to demonstrate how the butane torch works, and the need to use it. I am extremely happy that you gave the option of using the lighter, which I am more comfortable using. Thanks again. Your information is priceless.
Extremely helpful. Thank you so much. I just ordered a torch for my resin artwork and hadn’t a clue how to use it. Out of my comfort zone so this helps 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Louis. Seems there are lots of beginners coming to pouring at the moment, so the timing is right to make simple videos I think, that answer some of the FAQ
Thank you so much for this video. I really want to try acrylic pouring but was getting nervous seeing everyone handling the butane torch since I’ve never used one before but now I’m a little less afraid. 🙂
Feel the same! Never used one but have one now w three bottle of fire stuff but want a mini fire extinguisher near me as just the thought & know myself & ooops big, hot flame or butane all over me!
Thank you very much for the demonstration video. You are the only one I have seen mention the bbq lighter torch. I have one I'm going to try it. I have been afraid to get the butane torch, as I didn't know how to use it.
Thank for this video as also got one & so afraid to use it as never touched one in my life so seeing the other way made me feel a bit better & one day (w fire extinguisher in room) will try to just fill it & see if can get a nice, little flame!
will1234714 An excellent suggestion! I've repoured with mixed results. Pin holes and cracking/crazing were the primary issues. I tried washing the surface with Dawn dish soap prior to reusing (as I would prior to varnishing) and that seemed to help as it removed old surface silicone. I'll only re-pour once, as a rule, if the painting dried and has no varnish. It's better, as far as repouring goes, if I make the decision to scrape a wet painting and repour than to wait until dry but sometimes I just can't tell if it's a keeper or not! I look forward to Deby's response!
what should I have handy in case I catch something on fire? a small fire extinguisher or would some baking soda be a good idea? just want to be prepared. what is best at getting this type of fire out? thanks
Thank you so much 4 Your clear explanation on what a torch does and how to use it in acrylic pours. I am innthe learning process now. It is a great help 👍🏼for me to start pouring paint in the corona winter to come. 🤗 - i like your voice & style🤓
I love this sooo much. I've been looking into acrylic pours for a few weeks and I see everyone with the torch and I was wondering if I could use a lighter. 1. I want to try acrylic pouring so I don't want to buy a torch and I end up not like pouring. Lighters I have for jewelry making and can grab a few for $1 2. I've never used a torch so I'm a little eeh about it.
Love your videos, great production. I have used larger torches for encaustic but as always with your videos, I learned something about my butane torch. Thank you from Canada
HI Deby! Very timely :-) Thank you for this. I just bought a Chef culinary torch last week from Amazon. I will have to load it with the butane. The directions are good, but It is better to see someone actually show how. Thank-you! Blessings
It seems a bit strange when you first do it, because the nozzle and hole don't seem to 'click' together as you might expect and you might see some gas or vapour escape. But its fine.
Hi Deby! I just used a torch for the first time today and it didn't pop bubbles or make many cells. I did have cells from the silicone, but I was hoping to get tons of tiny ones with just a swipe of the torch. I'm wondering if that could be because my paint was too thick? Or maybe the torch wasn't hot enough? Have you ever experienced that?
It wouldn't be the heat of the torch, its quite hot enough, but it could be the consistency of the paint. Maybe too thick or too thin. Are you in our FB group? Come and chat there, and show some examples of your work and the members will try to help you get the look you want. facebook.com/groups/acrylicpouring
Thank you so much, you are so helpful to me, I’m wanting to try pouring and thank you I have the lighter since I have one, then maybe upgrade, I appreciate you 🙏
Snippets are a great idea, sometimes I just want specific information or I just don't have the time for full length video's.. I've subscribed for the snippets haha
A very helpful video for a new torch user. Be sure to purchase butane cans with the LONG nozzle as stove butane cans (such as Sterno) have a short nozzle that won't fit. Personally, when my first torch died, I tried using a long lighter and the results were not nearly as good. I'm happy with my new torch but found it, as any torch, will take a bit of getting used to. Thanks again!
I agree, the long lighter isn't the same, but for those who are worried about the regular torch, it can at least pop the bubbles etc to get a nicer finish. Thanks for the tip about the butane nozzle.
Ah yes I have done, and usually with limited success. I find that they warp on me a lot of the time, and if the paint is still wet, it runs and ruins the design. I've seen people fit them into photo frames to display them. That helps them to lie flat as well.
I got this brand of butane for my mini torch. Had to get a refund on the first it was faulty and wouldn’t light properly or not at all. Exchanged it and same thing. It won’t light and I filled it up as much as it would go. Did I break it? I turned it upside down and filled it right .
So I can just use one of those little lighters I've used for my fireplace or burners on my stove? If I had known that, I would not have set fire to my hand 2 weeks ago. (Just some blisters on middle three fingers, thank goodness!) After that, I bought yet another torch that was just a top part that you attach a small tank of butane. Now, I seem to have difficulty controlling the size of my flame. It really scares me, and I am afraid of igniting my new puppy pool, and the puppy pads that I'm using to protect the puppy pool from paint drips. Fire is dangerous, folks!
Heat guns can be similar, but it depends on model. Many of them can blow hot air rather than just heat, and this can move the paint about, thus changing the pattern you have poured. A torch is still my favorite.
Why can't you just use an electric heat gun? Are there any torches with just a button or trigger switch and no safety buttons or levers. Can you turn that one on and off without again pulling the safety switch? Those are so annoying.
Well Deby what can I say you looked stunning in your little blue dress, its a shame your head was missing but great view in general and the information was good for people not used to those items and you covered every thing on all the items which I thought was great. Even though I loved the view I would have still liked to see your face xx ;)
Hahaha, it was a bad hair day, and I really wanted to focus on the products, so if I zoomed out enough to get all of me in the frame, you wouldn't have been able to see the torch close enough. I'm working with the one camera right now so it wasn't easy to get split shots. But thank you for the kind comments

Excellent presentation. I encourage you to do more of these beginners instructional videos.
Thanks Louis. Seems there are lots of beginners coming to pouring at the moment, so the timing is right to make simple videos I think, that answer some of the FAQ
Thank you! It never crossed my mind to use a lighter! (I have many for my candles) The explanation of how to fill the butane torch is fabulous!
This was a great instructional video. Thanks so much!
I am just starting out learning about the acrylic pouring technique. This is very helpful. Thank you!

So informative and wonderfully presented. Thank you.
Thank you so much for explaining that. I've seen a lot of videos where its not explained and I end up a bit confused. Appreciate your time.
Thank you. It makes me feel more confy to use the little one. 🌹
Thank for this video as also got one & so afraid to use it as never touched one in my life so seeing the other way made me feel a bit better & one day (w fire extinguisher in room) will try to just fill it & see if can get a nice, little flame!
Very informative. Could you do a demo on pouring over old paintings pros and cons? Thanks
Sure. What a great idea. I will add it to the list.

Thinking again, another issue with repours has been the resulting texture--too textured.
Where is the amazon list?
Thank you so much for this video! So informative and quick and I totally get it now! :) ♡
Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
Thankyou so much, this has been so informative
what should I have handy in case I catch something on fire? a small fire extinguisher or would some baking soda be a good idea? just want to be prepared. what is best at getting this type of fire out? thanks
Whenever using a torch for any reason it’s always a good idea to have a fire extinguisher handy.
You are simply BRILLIANT 🙏
Do you recommend touring all pours?
Great video! Thank you so much. I've been really chicken to try the torch while painting.
Hello! How close to the surface of the paint would you hold the flame? Should the flame be touching or hovering?

Very informative! Thank you for sharing!
Does a Chef torch work better, or are A BBQ lighter work as well as one?
Thank you so much for this video! I’m going to get the bbq lighter, one with a bendable neck. ❤️
Thank you very much. You took the fear out of using a torch!
Thanks for your video. I learnt something new today

Thank you so much! clear and helpful!🙏
Can you use a heat gun instead of a torch for resin artwork or do you need to have a torch?
How to use it on paintings starts at 5:20.
The BBQ lighter was an awesome idea, too!!!

Excellent simple and to the point👍👍👍
What temperature should the torch be at when torching your acrylic pour/resin art?
I LEARNED ALOT! :) thank you!!

from where we can but torch???

thanks. explained in detail very well.
Thanks for the tips. Have ypu ever painted or poured on a canvas panel. If so how do you hang them. They are so thin.

I have with success and I frame them...I wish I could post a pic for you to see.
Thank you so much for this video. As a newbie, I was so confused about what to buy for torching my paintings
So you ARE applying the actual heat to the painting correct ?
Hi Debbie. I can’t find your amazon list. Which torch is this ?
Thank you do much..bless you!!😊
Cant wait t try 😎
I learned a lot.
Why am I getting air bubbles when I use the torch?
What is the torch shown in the video? None of the amazon links from the description are working

Thank you very helpful
Great info. but what is the brand name of the torch?
The brand doesn't really matter, they all do the same thing. You can get one similar here - amzn.to/2FvNcvB

My butane gas torch came without the bottom thing
Thank you for this I really needef that it is hard to find any good info
Thanks for this great video!
what would be the difference in results if using a heat gun?

Thank you!
debbie, why do others say not to use the lighter?
1:37 I like this part best of all 😊
Excellent!
Thanks William. Best wishes. Deby
What a beautiful accent. Where's it from? Ireland?
Great and yes very useful
I'm glad you found it useful Kristina. Best wishes. Deby
Never has my meth addiction ever been so beneficial to my arts and crafts as it is right now 😂 lolol I’m an expert with any & all torches/butane haha
People have talked about difficulty in filling their torches and others have suggesting burping their torch. Have you ever had any trouble?
So far no trouble at all. I do run it everytime until it is empty before refilling so I don't know if that helps.
was able to rip a fat dab thanks to this vid. much mahalos
Gas butan buat ngecat joooooon
Thanks I'll pass the information on. ---Dave...
OK Dave. Best wishes. Deby
Thanks.
