1.) The most bitter sweet love story maybe ever 2.) The music and how it infuses more meaning and emotion to the film 3.) The Wes Anderson style of intricate detail and exquisite use of the camera
The only movie I am looking forward to is The Grand Budapest Hotel. Wes Anderson's last few movies ( Moonrise Kingdom and Darjeeling Limited) were so so and I am always hopeful he's got another Tanenbaum or even a Rushmore waiting to be unvailed. I love his cinematic sense with the highly composed master shots which many modern directors have abandoned for annoying constant editing, but at the center of his films there is no much sustance---sadly even the good ones feel very hollow, like an chocolate Easter bunny. He tends to create characters that are too quirky for their own good. Moonrise Kingdom was chock full of them with the exception of the two main kids. I enjoyed their story and their relationship (even when it got uncomfortably creepy at times), but the rest of the characters were flat and one dimensional. I skipped Mr. Fox. I did enjoy Darjeeling Limited and the brothers reuniting for this trip across India. When I bought the soundtrack (the best thing about many Wes Anderson films) I had that in my Sony discman for a week solid. I loved the mixture of the Indian music and The Kinks. I keep a good though for The Grand Budapest Hotel---hopefully a return to form. Not that many cinematic stylists out there nowadays.
Maybe sometime when I am in the right mood. It played at the theater where I work but felt no overwhelming urge to see it. After watching substantial chunks of Hotel Budapest my initial enthusiasm was diminished. There was beautifully photographed scene on s small carosel. The dialogue was insipid but it was pretty to look at.
I tried watching it but it is Wes Anderson at his most annoyingly and cloyingly quirky. The CGI fish didn't help either...but it's nice to see Bud Cort still working.
The thing that makes wes anderson such a creative director is not only his artist style or uniqe story telling ability, but his ability to transformactor into different charectors. That was the point to make Bill different than we have seen before. And stop hating on these videos your a 10 year old kid you wouldnt understand the genius of anderson.
The older I get the more concerned I am that so many of my favorite movies like Treasure Planet, The Empire Strikes Back, Ad Astra, The Road To Predition and of course this one are so heavily focused on daddy issues 😂
Gorgeous movie! The best cast ever....ejem.... well... The Avengers ....ejem.. cough cough xD One of the best movies of Wes Anderson! A must by for you all!!
I'm watching this on RUclips right now, it's really good. Wes' new one Moonrise Kingdom is honestly his best so far IMHO, or at least as good as Rushmore.
O.k. so your taste for cinema is better than 90% of all film goers? Your so knowlagable about this topic (LOL). If you dont like it stop fucking hating such a great movie.
Wow! Wtf is boring about it. Great acting, writing, music, photography. This film has it all. Sure, it's quirky, it's supposed to be. It's Wes Anderson. But 'boring'? I'm speechless.
My favorite Wes Anderson movie.
1. The music.
2. Combination of characters, cast and setting interaction
3.The supberbly written dialog.
The Salinger homage. The flawless tone. The hilarity within deep, adult pain.

Also before he went completely ape-shit with his stupid planimetric diorama style.
Still Anderson's best, most fully realized film. Although Fantastic Mr. Fox gives it a contest.
@@Nonesovile96 How are his movies cringy?
3 reasons: the Music. The flawed characters. The "Wes Anderson/Owen Wilson Quirk" (seriously, these two need to write MORE.)
1. Alec Baldwin's Narration
2. Musical selections
3. The unforgettable chemistry
What a monumentally talented cast. But, if I had to pick one, it's Gwenyth Paltrow. She's f*****g brilliant!!
"I just don't use the word 'genius' lightly"
1. Gene Hackman
2. The perfect mix of comedy and drama
3. The soundtrack and score
1. The Faces
2. The Places
3. The Spaces

You should really check out Fantastic Mr. Fox, I thought it was brilliant

GREG FREEMAN
They weren't CGI. They were stop-motion models.
@@madahad9 did you watch TGBH? It's really nice.
where can i get this "hey jude" version?
That guy who plays the dad is pretty good looking for his age. Shame about Margo though.
😂
Before Gwyneth showed the world how incredibly air headed she is.

I also want to see a life aquatic on Blu.

1. The Tenenbaums Themselves
2. The Storybook World
3. Wes Anderson's Breakout Hit
Rushmore was the breakout
Did anyone else notice that this video uses the music from the opening of Filmspotting?
1. Eugene
2. Allen
3. Hackman
Did you...did you watch the movie?

This is actually one of my favorite movies, but all the other wes anderson movies after this are all kind of the same..
One of the most hilariously misinformed posts I've ever read.
I found this film pretentious and boring in the extreme. What was Criterion thinking?
Mari Christian boring? You must be joking!
Pretentious I can understand, but BORING?!?! You need to rewatch this movie stat

@@waynej2608 I'm a fan of strange and quirky films but I'm perfectly willing to admit that I probably lack a "Royal Tenenbaum" gene.
@@marichristian1072 Fair enough. I know that I seem to lack the Marvel comic gene, although I like a good action film.
