Wow, I am so grateful to the CEO for his transperency. I saw another video, where the blogger said the airline didn't want the passengers to know that they were on the 737-800 Max. Well done sir.
@@dynasty0019 Quite a few WestJet 737-800 were delivered after 2010. I expect they didn't want the Sky Interior on those because having two different interiors increases costs due to the need for different spare parts etc.

Nice that WJ is completing their seat reconfiguration and dumping the middle blockers. Bring back the big seats! We flew premium to BGI in 2019, we were however robbed of the MAX fat seats. WJ service was great though. Great coverage Alex, the Rocks look great out that wing. I prefer the A side to get a peek at Jumbo Mountain, Spray Lake and Engadine Lodge. Usual route from west is perfect.
Nice review Alex! Funny thing, in December 2020, I flew a WestJet 737-800 from Vancouver to Toronto and made a video about it. I recognized that first view of the terminal so much and funny enough, I also left from gate B16, the same one you boarded at! So also the jet bridge, gate area, and all of that looks so familiar! It’s kinda funny to think that a big RUclipsr like you was standing where I was only like a month later. Anyway, nice video, hopefully I can fly on one soon enough. :)

This video came at a great time lol, was watching some videos and boom your notification popped up. Anddd my cat came to join me lmao, she just sat straight up in front of my computer.
I wonder when these new seats will be on the YVR to Maui/Hawaii route. last time I went to Hawaii, I went premium for bigger seats. I was disappointed when it was three seats with the middle blocked. I am a big guy, the extra elbow room was ok, but felt like I was riding in economy, but paying for 2 luggage and food to be added to the price of the ticket. I think at the time, I calculated I was paying 150 each way for "better seats" which turned out to be elbow room. These seats look awesome though, would defiantly consider premium again if these were on the Hawaii route (5hrs flight)
Back at the start of 2020, it was $550 (Canadian) to upgrade from Economy to Premium and $1200 for Economy to Business. I'll talk more about that in an upcoming trip report!
Hi Alex, thanks for the very informative video..😁👍🏻👍🏻 have a question if you don’t mind..😁 We are flying from Ottawa to Kona Hawaii with an 8 1/2 hr layover in Calgary, my question is, can we access the WestJet lounge with it in the domestic section? Thanks for any help you can do, it’s appreciated..🤗😁
For me it's the Airbus A220 with its bigger seats and bigger windows which let in more natural light and make the cabin feel bigger insde. Ive made my feeling about Boeing on this channel in previous videos and those views pretty much make Westjet a no fly airline because they have no alternative to flying on a Boeing aircraft for the long flights I do across the country. P.S. A rebutal to the cabin announcement, Its only by the grace of hod tgat the aurline gad no problems with the Max befire the grounding. It was only by chance that Westjet didn't get one of the 2 aurcraft that crashed. They could have been delivered to any airline that ordered them.
Every North American 737 MAX operator has already had their MAX's MCAS use both AoA sensors to feed its data before the first MAX crash. The chances of a Canadian and American 737 MAX crash like what happened in Indonesia and Ethiopia is zero to none.
@@dynasty0019 I read that the Air Canada aircraft were not modified till after the 2 crashes and an aquantençe of mine that I meet through work was a Max pilot and the pilits at his airline had nothing in thier manuals about MCAS. He told his airline that he would never fly a Boeing prooduct again as he no longer can trust the company which is mt stance as well. There is also a video floating around where a group of American pilots are in a meeting with a Boeing rep and they plainly asked him " Do we the pilots not have a right to know what systems are on the aircraft we fly" The reps ansewer was Yes. Not yes but we fix your aircraft already and have made all infornation about MCAS available to you. @@thearsenalmisfit2414 The fixes you hear is only the rewritten flight control laws that governs MCAS, which now only commends two units of nose down trim instead of full nose down like before. That applies to every MAX worldwide. The fix itself only takes 4 hours and it's essentially a software patch. MCAS was just an update to the existing Speed Trim System (STS) that all 737's have since 1984, at least that's what Boeing said but obviously didn't communicate it to the operators except for a small annotation on the manual. That's why under the new law, when MCAS is disconnected/malfunctioned, the SPEED TRIM FAIL and MASTER CAUTION/FLT CONT will illuminate. As for North American operators already using both AoA's, it's nothing to do with race or nationality, it was always an option for airlines to order their MAX's that way, it's just the North American operators were more proactive than some others. That's why Transport Canada and the FAA were reluctant to ground the MAX at first, because a crash involving MCAS induced trim runaway was impossible to occur in Canada and the US in the first place.

If they had the galls, put all of his C-Suite and SVP/EVP level people and their entire family, kids included, on the same flight and do a tour around Canada.
Also agree. Most passengers wouldn't have a clue what aircraft type they were on. Mentioning safety, crashes and the number of deaths doesn't instill confidence. Passengers on that flight who were aware that it was a MAX wouldn't have been there if they had safety concerns, so why raise the issue?
