- Video of Michael Evanko fly fishing the Codorus Creek in York County, Pennsylvania. This video was shot on December 30, 2017 on publicly accessible water near the Brown Road access lot, southeast of the town of Porters Sideling. This section of the Codorus is located below Lake Marburg. The Codorus holds a wonderful population of wild brown trout that have an interesting beginning back in the 1970s. If you'd like to read more about that history, head over to the Codorus Chapter of Trout Unlimited's website. The trout caught on this video were caught on Frenchy and Pheasant Tail Nymphs.
Glad you made it down to my home waters down here in York County

Love your videos!
Nice video Mike. I wish I had known you were there, that's 5 minutes from my house. Would have joined you, I was down on the gunpowder that day. It was cold, but they were still eating. Maybe we will cross paths in 2018.
Bill Taggart certainly would have let you know, but it was a last second decision. Was gonna go east but decided to drive away from the snow.
Great video. This is not too far from my inlaws. Know where I'm going next time I'm over that way!
The bigger browns are on the upper side of that bridge. Tough to fly fish that section though. Bottom is pretty silty. I catch a ton thru there on spinners. I've seen guys pull out 20+" wild browns in that section. Nice video. Got a new subscriber here!
chris holmberg thanks Chris! Ya I checked out that area above the bridge and it’s virtually impossible to wade because of the silt. I’m confident there’s some nice ones in there!
Is this the section you were talking about?
Carlos Whittaker Yep! Love his videos. That's the section below Brown Rd.
Just came across this video, and i live in York county, and recently got into fly fishing. Been fishing york's fishing creek and cabin creek. Was wondering were you headed up stream or down stream from the Brown Road access point?
Great info. Esp on the parking. It can be the hardest part of the day when you're not familiar with the area
balor7 yep, parking is tough to navigate on the Codorus.
Hey Michael, sometime you should check out gunpowder state park in Maryland. Lots of nice wild brown and rainbows. I go down there all the time
Nice atmosphere to fish in. If you wanted snow to fish in you could've come up here to Girard and had all the snow you'd ever want. Of course our steelhead streams are locked up now.
Nice video I am a big fan of you bro.
Hey man you're fishing my area, I know a few good trout waters that hold Natty's that aren't in keystone's book if your interested. Also in the spring muddy Creek has some awesome fly fishing if you're interested. Keep up the videos. I was also fishing codorus this day just a different section lol.
Lessner Outdoors glad to know there was another guy as crazy as me out there fishing that day! I’ve heard of Muddy Creek, never fished it. Would love to know more about some natty water not in the books.
If you check out bald eagle Creek a trib to muddy Creek it's loaded with wild browns. Have caught some close to 16 inches. It's a small creek but always fun to fish.
Lessner Outdoors I’ve never fished Bald Eagle Creek. Where’s a good access point for it?
Best access point is on the bridge at deer Rd. Good holes down stream of there. Also on Gamble Rd
Awesome video!!! Do you live near York county? Maybe we can collab sometime. Seems like I can't find any fish lately. Ever since the temp dropped to under 10 degrees fareinhight, havent been able to get a single bite. I was thinking of fishing over near glen rock where the south branch of the codorus is. Me and my dad scouted down there yesterday and it's like hole after hole after hole. It looks awesome! Hahaha but yeah I trout fish a lot also and have a fly rod, but haven't fly fished for trout in years. I usually use spinning a lot, but I always catch and release.
Osny_fishing_adventures - awesome comment. I live over on the eastern edge of Lancaster County. I occasionally get over to the other side of the river. You need to dust that fly rod off! What streams do you like to fish?
Wooly Bugged usually fish the little stream near me which has a lot of wild browns in it but have fished the yellow breeches, muddy creek, and also fish the codorus a lot. Lately, I haven't really been able to go anywhere and be successful. Ever since the temp dropped under 10, can't get a single thing to bite lol. What have you been catching them on?
Osny_fishing_adventures - I catch them on small nymphs on the winter, size #16, 18 and smaller. Also, time of day is a big deal, I limit my time to between 10-2.
Wooly Bugged OK. 👍 we should definitely hook up sometime 🐟 if you ever want to go somewhere and collab, just shoot me an e-mail at owenyouknowit@gmail.com and hopefully I can pull that fly rod back out haha
I always wanted to fish there. Have you ever been to fishing creek in Columbia county?
I remember catching wild rainbows in that stream about 15 years ago. Any rainbows still in there?
I have a buddy who lives in Mt.Wolfe and we used to slam channel cats on what I think was Codorus Creek(I may be wrong). I had no idea there were trout in any sections of that creek.
yah Mike , nothing like it, aye? Well, very nice vid, stay with it.
Hey Mike, nice vids ! I like the net you're using . Can you tell me the maker ? Thanks,Larry
You do a nice job with your filming. What camera do you use?
WildBlue Discovery I use GoPros and Apple for my videos.
so when the small browns grow up . do they migrate to a larger stream of sorts???
How do u like those lightning indicators?
Happen to remember the water temp that day?
Rankin, I wish I could tell you.
Hi mike, anymore videos on the way soon?? R...
Just because of the weather. Plus using gloves takes the slime off the fish as well
Last Cast Fly Fishing Danny thanks for the tip Danny
Well done man! beautiful area and those fish looked like paintings! Thank you for sharing. liked and subscribed and rang the bell for sure. check us out if you get time. good luck out there!
Jesse Stanfield thanks for the nice comment Jesse. I subscribed!
Cool video but I don't think those gloves are the best to be touchin the fishies with! Otherwise, sweet, keep at it!
Alysshia Almasy yep I got my fair share of lashing for that as I should have!
please wet your hands before u touch them fish......
Aviation401 I’m in agreement. Was so cold that day, I wasn’t thinking.
