Hey dude I wanted to say I really appreciate your channel, really helps us guys who are just getting started. I just picked up some Hydroturf from Facebook marketplace for pretty cheap, hope it does good for me. Also Roll Tide baby😬
I use the Amazon turf on the back of my speed boat and it’s held up really well although it isn’t very squishy but if you sand the area and prep it then it’ll last
I actually have the Amazon stuff on my jon boat deck and it has held up pretty well given the quality. I painted the deck and lightly scuffed it before sticking it down and that seemed to help with adhesion. Surprisingly, the foam itself cleans off pretty well with dish liquid and a bristle brush. I will say though that it could be thicker stuff and have a bit better adhesive(clearly from your video) . My feet after standing barefoot for a couple hours need a break. With shoes or sandals no problem standing for however long. If I come to redoing the deck in the future, I would definitely splurge this time around on better quality foam but I think the Amazon stuff is a good option for those on a budget.
First I have heard with good luck on that Amazon foam. The stuff I got would not stay stuck at all. It sucked. Glad your experience was better than mine.

I’m not sure the price difference but if you have an area that will require multiple cuts around hatches ect you might be better off doing a template and letting the manufacturer cut it. When I did my boat with sea deck the process was to make templates then the vendor printed them in cad and sent it back on clear plastic sheets so I could verify and or mark up with a sharpie for any final changes before they cut them out.

Hey Nimrod, Scooter here. Nice video. I appreciate the effort and information. I'll check them out. How did it work over deck rivets or is that a no go?
I see at about 8:53 that it looks like you may have left a small piece of backing paper. It could just be a visual artifact on camera, but it looks like it might not have been visible from the angle you were viewing at that moment.
Hydrodeck, according to their website does not sell this stuff in sheets. It's all deck kits for specific boats. I'd like to buy it but they aren't making it very easy.
Yeah I was the same way... and hell the reviews made it sound like it was the next best thing since twinkies and slimjims! Then I got it and actually used it and wanted to warn folks not to waste their money.
Nice work. Have you ever thought of modifying a Jon boat for goin' out castin' & blastin'? Pretty much a camo boat with a blind, that you can fish out of, and a gun holder, that keeps it close and ready.
@@SendItJonBoats oh, I didn't see the blind. I just figured, you liked the camo pattern. Not exactly a camo pattern most duck hunters would pick. Maybe Wood Duck hunters. But what do I know. I see pink camo, blaze orange camo, even something called urban camo. If you want some camo that no one has seen before, get some of that vinyl wrap that looks like chrome and the anodized aluminum wrap, brushed stainless wrap, maybe some gun metal black. Well, pick some flashy, polished metal looking, vinyl wrap. And cut out the camo shapes you want. You could call it "Chromouflage". Oh, I got another one for you, glow in the dark camouflage, do I need to say more? Or how's about a camo pattern that's made out of the naked lady shapes, The kind that all the truckers, have on their mud flaps, and random pairs of boobies, of all different shapes and sizes. Ducks seem to stay away from the guys, if they don't have a blind on their boat, here in Minnesota. Dux must git stupidr, duh ferther thems go sowth. Thanks, Scooter.
FYI, your boat will sit about 1 inch lower in the water for every 333 lbs you place in it, of course, assuming the weight is distributed so that it remains level. Also, you stiffened it with your modifications. Sorry Scooter.
No such thing as right around the corner from your location to Acworth with our traffic. :-) It's more like .......... on the other side of the state! as far as I'm concerned. (not sure if you can tell but I'm over the traffic)
Hydro Deck does not have camouflage flooring. They really need to start making camouflage flooring. Thats why I'm sticking with Sea Dek if I ever put foam flooring in my john boat. I plan on using it for duck hunting. If they did id totally be down to try it but they dont.
Get the flooring from Prodigy Boats. I've seen 2 duck boats that get used regularly, and their stuff holds up well, especially of you're looking for camo.
@@christophermccrary8080 Thanks but I think I’ll stick with SeaDek if I ever decide to put flooring in my hunting boat. We have it in our fishing boat and It has lasted 14 years. Other than minor fading it’s still like brand new. That’s to be expected. We fish year round so our boat stays outside.

I see at about 8:53 that it looks like you may have left a small piece of backing paper. It could just be a visual artifact on camera, but it looks like it might not have been visible from the angle you were viewing at that moment.
yup. worked fine over rivets. I sanded the counter sink rivets down flush so you cant even feel them under the turf.
That is very possible... stuff happens, it aint coming back up now too late lol
All you need now on cat walk is monster rod holders
Hydrodeck, according to their website does not sell this stuff in sheets. It's all deck kits for specific boats.
I'd like to buy it but they aren't making it very easy.
Call them and they can help you out. Or you can order sheets from tbnation.net
@@SendItJonBoats Ok thanks.
hey great vid fixing up a POS glassport bass scalper and i would of been none the wiser about the the poor quality amazon knock off.
Thats what this boat will be for, duck hunting, cat fishing, and bow fishing
Good to know thanks
No such thing as right around the corner from your location to Acworth with our traffic. :-)
It's more like .......... on the other side of the state! as far as I'm concerned. (not sure if you can tell but I'm over the traffic)
The traffic in this whole state sucks balls. Everywhere I go it is freakin traffic.
@@SendItJonBoatsbig, giant hairy ones. Boxloads and boxloads of people and they all drive 2 cars.... at the same time
There’s no place on their website that has prices for sheets.
Call them, I ain't in charge of their site.
Give Scooter directions to the closest Sonic! Geaux Tigers!
LMAO ! Geaux Tigers!
Hydro Deck does not have camouflage flooring. They really need to start making camouflage flooring. Thats why I'm sticking with Sea Dek if I ever put foam flooring in my john boat. I plan on using it for duck hunting. If they did id totally be down to try it but they dont.
yeah they need some camo.
@@christophermccrary8080 They use seadeck and hydro turf. Good stuff. That is what we now sell on tbnation
