Doing taunt b+4 in practice mode is 1 thing, doing it against an opponent who sometimes tech rolls, sometimes doesn't, sometimes wakes up with buttons, sometimes delays the tech rolls this is all stuff you should probably get down first. Taunt jet upper is a huge time sink that you might want to wait for until you can consistently get taunt b+4 at the wall against a real opponent.
Byro... I mean Peter is back! Yaaaaay! :D You forgot about "siema" ;) Hi Peter. Even I can do TJU but land this online, oh boi... Perfect video as always. Thank you :)
Use this set up for tju: Bound 1+2 into L1, from the main menu settings change your active analogue to the right one. Now, do a very tiny tiny f with the analogue give a tiny tiny delay and then follow up with a back on d-pad and L1 on the same motion with the Same hand which makes this type of just frame easier than trying to perfectly coordinating both hands. Now i'll be honest, unlike electrics(of course this type of layout works for electrics, just use 2+4 instead of 1+2, you don't even need to mess with analogue) tju remains unbelievably difficult, but it moves away from "freaking impossible" and goes towards "maybe one day i could do it consistently?" If you mess up the input you either get an uninterruptible safe homing mid with 1+2, or you get a b1 which is uninterruptible, unstepable, mid and is 4+ on block, both of which aren't all too bad, but you are obviously missing on the damage.
Taunt in the open is usually very specific. Typically speaking you won't be able to catch up to an opponent who is just holding back to block. I personally think it's best used at the wall.
Hey just a little tip; Instead of measuring distance in backdashes (because they're different for each character) just use the actual distance number from training mode
@@PeterYMao people USED to use in Tekken, we now use 'units' as a standardised and measurable value. Assuming that they don't remove said feature for Tekken 8

Hey Peter, great video! I just wanted to ask because I didn't see it mentioned: is b, d/f + 4 a good taunt setup tool? The d14 frame advantage seems like it would discourage any opponent from pressing buttons, but perhaps there's more to it.
I think it could work, but however the other options guarantee a taunt - this doesn't. Especially qcf3,4 CH in front of the wall, even the practice mode used to list it as a combo. Edit: I double checked: as the 4 counter hits, it gives ya +29g frames to act with, and as taunt is i28, it's fully guaranteed in front of a wall. Also, if you do the taunt as fast as possible after b,d/f+4 without dashing it whiffs. So ya gotta dash. That by itself makes the taunt 2 frames slower with the perfect input. And even if you were to do a taunt in a place where it doesn't whiff (in front of a wall) the opponent still can counterhit your taunt with a i14 move, with a dash this goes to at least i16. However, the game isn't all about frames - if the mental advantage is great enough, you could land a taunt there. On paper though, it's not a very good option.
@peterYMao - Hey man, can you please cover the combo knees at 9:58 (after jetupper) - i always seem to miss their apex and cannot do the followup combo - how far do you have to run in order to get apex knees onto the flying jetupperd opponent?
Ive been watching jimmyjtrans taunt setup at the wall and he seems to prefer to forward dash in a taunt setup. I know you said to triple taunt in your previous video, but i cant seem to connect a basic 1,4 off a tripple taunt.
There are lots of times where he doesn't forward dash into a taunt setup. The reason he is able to forward dash into a taunt setup is because his opponents respect him and don't want to get up immediately. If the opponent doesn't want to get up immediately then Jimmy can dash into a taunt setup. If you're playing online your opponents will not respect you at all so you have to triple taunt immediately. As with your triple taunt problem, that's just because you have not learned the timing yet. I don't know what else to say except practice. Jimmy does triple taunt, I do triple taunt, and a lot of other Bryan players do too. I can't say anything else other than practice it until you get it down.
I have moved on to taunt f +214 And can some time get to b4 but jet upper even though have landed in few matches probably and most likely on the people with not a great guard, landing it on a dummy seens just impossible!

Fun Fact: Taunt b+4 requires the same forward input timing as the Taunt jet upper. Allowing you to practice the forward input without having to worry about the jet upper input yet.
Yeh, but that's not taking the button input into account and that can mess up your timing since it's different. What tends to happen to me is whenever I go to do a TJU I get b+2 instead unless I really concentrate on pressing forward first, heh. Guess learning TNT b+4 is the best way of knowing when exactly the taunt hits - getting the taunt "cancel" down, which is needed. However TJU is a different hurdle in itself, different button timings - making sure you got the neutral in between etc..
