The best part of "The Thrash Particle" is imagining Brens partner getting dug out by someone else and Bren crying while wrong "HERWZ THAT HOOK YOU WANTED" like the biggest baby while using their emo tears to wank.
MOBO is the only band that'll ever bring me to tears at the thought of never hearing a new song from them. MOBO was/is such an important band to me and I am forever grateful to them.
i listened to this ep and then heard the context of it later, and it really is very special. some of the lyrics sting a bit more knowing that this was kind of when things started to fall apart for bren, and u can really hear it in his voice, especially on thrash particle. while holy ghost will still always be my favorite, perfect cast is a very close runner up. and honestly, as much it hurts to know that there won’t be any more from them, i think just another face was the perfect way to lay modern baseball to rest. will always love these dorks
i’m great at getting into bands years after they have broken up. got into this entire scene in the last year & i miss mobo like i was there from the beginning, i can’t imagine what it’s like to have actually seen them grow. i was in middle school/early high school when mobo was around so i never would have thought to give them a second thought even if i knew who they were. bummer but maybe one day they can pull a surprise reunion like MCR. we can hope
I really appreciate how you drew the connection between the EP and Holy Ghost. My favorite song from the album Hiding makes me reflect on this time where Brendan was feeling alone. “Are you hiding or have I abandoned you?” The song is sung by Jake, and it’s the last one he sings on the record. And how much the band was doing at the time I wonder if he feels a little guilt about how hard the band was going during that time. Connecting it to with Nameless Ranger I completely agree it’s a reflection on how Brendan was just starting to feel like he was growing out of MOBO. Thrash Particle is my favorite song on the EP. Nate this is one of your best videos for me, and this is my favorite Mobo release as well.
Was supposed to see them a second time right before they broke up... was so sad it literally hits hard to this day. Their music defined a huge part of my senior year in high school and listening to them or thinking about them gives me this crashing wave of nostalgia. Makes me want to relive those days so badly. Here’s to MoBo.
i never really got into the band history, i just listened to their most popular songs and found lyrics very relatable, now with all this info i’m definitely going to give this ep a good listen, great video!!
I literally just listened to The Perfect Cast for the first time yesterday and have been obsessing over it ever since, thank you so much for your amazing content!
I been waiting on this one, wild coincidence I watched your original Mobo trilogy videos just last night and listened to Sports this morning because of it
1000% with 19:48, if they were making music but Bren or any other member was internally hating it, I wouldn't want them to forcefully continue. Thank you for another amazing video Nate!
feel so lucky to have seen them live in early 2017 on their uk tour, must have been weeks before the breakup. I agree thrash particle has to be on of their best tracks, up there with mass and its cold out here for me! another quality video man, long live mobo
I don’t listen to their music at all. But the documentary was very moving and has always stuck with me. I honestly have never met anyone who has liked modern baseball. Seeing all of these comments of them having a huge fan base is news to me. Kudos to them. The doc was so sad. I hope nothing but the best for them. And all humans. ☮️❤️
"you're gonna miss it all" is pretty much the soundtrack of my late secondary school years. Feels weird listening back every now and then. Love these videos
Just wanted to say this video was phenomenal. I saw MoBo on tour with Brand New in El Paso and I remember being in the crowd at that show thinking about how much it meant to me seeing TFB and MoBo at the same time. Seeing the tour poster in the video gave me a wave of nostalgia and I wanted to thank you for that.
this point mobo is not a band its a concept. its the perfect rendition of lyrics and instruments to perfectly describe growing up, teenage insecurity, growing up, and being content on not knowing what you are doing. they will always be my favourite band. and sure i may not listen to them every day like i use to but their music is everything to me and always will be
I am so thankful for MoBo, especially for Holy Ghost and this EP. I am struggling a lot lately and MoBos music showed me that it‘s okay to not have it all figured out at 20.
