Good ole dodge. I recently sold a 2007 F350 diesel. And bought a 1999 Ram 1500. At the time I told myself it was a good idea. What I’ve learned…I’m not a dodge guy. I knew it was a little bit of a project when I bought it. And it’s not super difficult to work on, but it has so many little problems. Steering, interior….and dodge couldn’t decide what size bolts to use. The sizes are all over the place. I’m convinced now more than ever, that a dodge pickup is just a shipping crate for a Cummins engine.

Your exactly right about the special tool quadrium. I have a shelf full. I turn down jobs now that would require me to buy a probably one time use tool, especially if the price is stupid compared to the job. If I can't borrow or rent it, I don't work on it. Time for me to look out for me because looking out for others usually just leaves me broke.

I had to laugh a little myself at the fact that they put a snowplow on a Dakota.
How long can anyone expect a clutch to last on an undersized truck pushing a snow plow?
You make a really good point of the futility of buying specialty tools. It's partially why I bough a lathe and an old milling machine. I end up using them mostly for making tools to do machine work, and also to make my own special tools. I know, it takes up some of your time but making tools for putting in and taking out bushings goes pretty fast. The great thing is not having to wait or to chase some over priced tool around the country.

Like the way you take care of the puppies, they are family as far I am concerned, hope that hot shower felt good after rolling around on wet, cold floor, been there done that, all one can say is, you do what you have to do, doesn’t mean you like it. I remember those days buddy. We had older dump trucks we plowed with, the snow and cold weather exposed all of there weaknesses. The plow pistons were air, if the driver didn’t drain his tanks or forgot to put alcohol in the air compressor reservoir everything would freeze! I still get calls where the machines are out under a carport and the snow and rain destroys the machine. This why I have arthritis, everywhere!

I just finished up an overhaul on a 6r140 a couple of days ago for a 2011 powerjoke. My customer initially purchased a reman from Ford and had it installed and it lasted exactly 3 days. When they picked the transmission up from the dealer and looked at it they started having concerns with it since whoever is handling the reman process for ford is just painting over dirt and grease and it had mismatched pan bolts. They were glad they hadn't returned their original transmission core. I rebuilt their original transmission and they installed it and now they are fighting with ford for a refund. Most likely they will be disputing the charge with their credit card provider and get a charge back.
