Not sure if anyone has commented this yet but in a lot of Desi countries it's actually quite common to stain fingernails with henna, so nail stains are a thing!

I remember when I used to watch Christine’s videos every week when she first started on RUclips. I’d watch nail polish videos even tho I’d never actually put them on myself j bc I liked the designs. But what makes Christine so different is her charm and her humor and the way she was j so relatable.
Eventually as I got older I went to college and kinda strayed away from watching RUclips for a while. I just graduated last year, and now that I have so much down time on my hands I’ve been watching a lot of RUclips again. I decided to revisit a lot of the old channels I watched when I was younger, just for a taste of nostalgia. And then I went onto simplynailogical and saw her “I’m not a RUclipsr anymore” video.
I teared up. Not bc I was sad that she was moving onto other things. But bc her relatability is still there. Knowing that even my favorite RUclipsrs go thru or went thru the same kind of growth I went thru these past few years is so extremely comforting. And as much as I miss the content from youtubers like Jenna Marbles, or Ryan Higa, or Smosh, I love revisiting and seeing how much they’ve changed in the best way possible, for their happiness. As cliche as it sounds, it’s like revisiting an old friend, and being grateful for the times that y’all have had in the past, growing apart, but knowing that all the love is still there.
Thank you Christine, for being one of those content creators for me. I’m so happy to see you happy. And I wish nothing but happiness and love for you.

Scenecore is just tiktok alt, scene is bright colors and mostly big hair. Punk is absolutely not tied to either of these things

When simply was asking what her aesthetic was I kept thinking like 90s grunge, mostly bc of all the grungy art with CDs I used to see on tumblr but it does kind of have the darkness and also pops of colour. I know 90s grunge isn’t really the perfect way to describe it but that’s what her nail preferences scream to me 😅

I think adding in a sort of “nail concealer” that is super sheer but ever so slightly purple/violet jelly/milky plus a tiny bit iridescent would be such a great addition to the HT line and perfect for this type of manicure!! 💗💗

This is a huge thing in the Animal Crossing community, lol. A streamer was touring my island once and a viewer asked what my aesthetic was and what they wanted was a "-core" word! I had to tell them I'd made up "lullabyecore" lol
Nouncore I noticed started to really widen in usage around the late 2010s on tumblr and pinterest before spreading as things like cottagecore became a concept more widely understood by mainstream in 2020. But I remember the concept of "cleancore" as early as 2014, so -core aesthetics may have started even before the late 2010s. I haven't researched too much on it given that nouncore is more like a million rabbitholes rather than one, but it is interesting to think about.
My favorites are dreamcore, liminalcore, and nostalgiacore right now. Kidcore also originated on tumblr but it has a complicated history there, but now that context is kinda lost after its widespread internet usage.

It's crazy this is being presented as new just bc Hayley wore it. I've got my nails done at the salon quite a few times when I was younger (up to 23 years ago) and I always got the natural white tip manicure but ALWAYS got them to use the clear iridescent color as my taco. The color of polish was called cotton candy.

Lol fr thought the same thing. Don’t worry we can put some holo over dark blue or black and call them “starry night nails” and go viral lol
I do it for years 😁 my nail tech does pink building gel, slightly transparent and does this pearl powder and glossy taco. That's it. So much faster than painting even with one color. Pro tip: this powder looks best on "pastel" shades if you do decide to put a color undernearh 😉

I’ve been loving doing negative space mail art (I have some on right now) and incorporating holo/special effect shades into that style to add some fun. I have stained nails that are a little lighter then Cristine’s and I’ve found that layering a coat of long lasting base then a coat of smoothing base and then at coat of a sheer pink gives a really nice translucent slightly milky “natural” look that’s very similar to “natural” pink gel polishes or acrylics or stick on nails that are common. I’ve tried just the smoothing base and it’s too white for me personally and I’ve tried just the jelly translucent pink and that’s too pink for me so the combo is perfect
I never knew that about the clean up brush! Now it makes sense why my brushes have some straggly bristles
Anyone reading this, if you have been on the fence of Favourite Sister, GET IT. It's beautiful!
honestly? I like the purple, but the same swirls but add a deeper brown instead of the purple would've looked more "donut & coffee" vibes for me to fit the glazed donut look

IDK see, for me doing a more subtle nail is for when I've got one nail that's super short because of a break--because the subtler colors don't draw my eye to the break as badly. Has nothing to do with making it look like I put in little effort while putting in maximal effort.
I love me some pastels. Very comfy, fluffy, bubbly vibes. And sparkles are very welcome ✨️

The glazed donut nail was the go to nail look my high school math teacher wore. She was at least 75. It's such a neutral look that even an elderly woman/veteran/math teacher wore it every day. Like, come on guys

Can cofirm Glossy Taco is the true leaderboard. I thought I had my holy grail top coat, did a side by side with Glossy Taco and it was better so I started using Glossy Taco until I forgot to close the bottle and it got ruined. I've had to use my old holy grail and now I hate it. I can't wait for some of these new polishes to come out so I can replace with the order.
would love a lavender tinted base coat to really help neutralize how yellow my nails are sometimes.

There is this subsection of Japanese fashion called Creepycute or Bittersweet. If you google it then you'll get a lot of overly fluffy dresses, but some of the goth girls when I was growing up (late 2000s) were like this. There isn't a term for it in North America? Which is a shame because it's always been here and never really gone away. But yeah pastels pop really well on black and people know it!
Side note: when I was googling it out of curiosity to see anything would come up most of the goth girls wearing color go monochromatic. Cowards!!

If I go all out and hand paint a design on every nail, it may take me 4-5 hours to do all my nails. Luckily I use gel though, so it lasts a month.

i think it comes from bigger trends like heroin chic, balletcore, etc, coming back bc of the recession - poverty + saving money means more simple, basic, diy styles being on trend.

What’s the difference between the Glossy Taco and Super Glossy Taco
Cause I love both of them. Also I adore your nail polish. It’s literally the only one I can use. It doesn’t make my hands/fingers have allergic reactions and it actually last for a long time on my nails. Gel polish and every other brand I’ve tried (literally all of them) comes off within hours of me applying them. Thank you for being the hands down nails up best Nail Polish Brand Ever. Holo Forever
Glossy Taco is 5-free, Super Glossy Taco is not. I think Super Glossy gives off a harder, shinier shell, I also find that the bottle doesn’t dry out as quickly as the glossy.
I need help. I have tried literally every method you could think of (Including buffing the top layer of my nails), but none of my nail polish ever wants to stay. Weather it is gel/shlack, Dip powder, acrylics, or just regular polish. The problem is I work in the food service industry. So half the time my hands are in water or in a humid climate (because of gloves), and I am constantly using my hands. So does anyone have any tips or tricks?
I think one of the reasons might also be the oil on your nail. Right before you paint your nails, try cleaning them with acetone. I heard that helps a lot

If you have ridges in your nails, that damage in itself. If you have a lifting cracking of any sort, that’s damage and itself on your natural nail.
The only way to fix a damaged nail. It’s a let it grow out all the way and cut the damage part of the nail from the bridge until you have clean new non-damaged nails that grows out.
