btw in sims 3 you actually can customise markings to every little detail, there's no brush tho so u have to play with placing rotating etc shapes that given, OR download cc stuff, so basically you can, but not with a brush tool
or you make them yourself. It's actually not that difficult and there are many tutorials for making cc stuff. Sims 3 + Pets DLC will forever be my most fav cause there's so much stuff out there and the horses and Sims look way better imo..
I played every horse game out there and they all only have certain things with something missing. Some don't have breeding or bonding. The thing I love the most about horse's in the Sims is you can just own them without having to go compete or do objectives unless you chose too. You can literally just have a pet horse which some people do. The biggest thing that annoys me is the lack of space on some lots for horse's there should of been a lot of large lots with the world. There isn't even the ability to own another lot like in Sims 3.
Yeah I think they took feedback the wrong way. If you have a horse you need space. Smaller lots for general towns are great, but not for building RANCHES with maybe multiple horses and other animals.
However, it looks like you can build a stable with a stable owner and ranch hand, and keep horses there that Sims from other households can use. So it would be similar to boarding your house elsewhere besides at your house, except for the game's purposes, the horse belongs to the Stable household instead of the family household. But the upside is not having to choose besides keeping your kids and pets and adding a horse.😅
@@EvieDelacourt I haven't played that much but something like that would be so good you could build on a big lot too. One thing I do is build a stables then put the living space above it so the rest of the land can be pasture.
@@QuinSteph I was planning on doing just that with my Royal hunting lodge. (I have a medieval save, so while others are griping about not getting English style saddles, I'm just hoping some CC creator will get around to making proper medieval style ones! 😂)
And I wish they had more horsemanship options for properly bonding and training the horse, and maybe even riding lesson arenas or riding lesson instructors, etc. And the jumping course! Nooo I was super upset that you can only do one jump! & I've always wished we could watch competitions too, I don't know why they don't make that a thing as entertainment. And more competition options like pretty much every kind of competition there is. Just because it's specific to horses 🫤
@@PredictableEnigma Heck, to have a dog training/owning game as detailed as Nintendogs, but updated to 2023 standards! I would be all over that! Considering what a huge hit Nintendogs was at the time, it's really surprising that no other game developers have tried to fill that niche yet. I don't even care what animal species, I just want a game that has nuanced animal husbandry and training stuff.
Even tho the pack might be shallow when it comes to gameplay, I really like how they made the horses. It's obivous that the budget went to horse animations. I really love their animation especially how they animated their ears. Also I was soo surprised when I found out that the mares' bellies are actually growing when they expect a foal. I think that was a super cute feature. Also I think what is a big miss that they didn't included farriers, or a farrier carreer and they didn't include a cross pack compatibility with Cats&Dogs Veterinarian. :/
@@vika5655 RDR2 is also running on better game engine without a scrapped multiplayer version. So it makes sense. That's why Sims 4 lacks in everyithing... But in my opinion you can't and shouldn't compare two different games with to different companies. The budget is not the same sadly.
I’m waiting for the “my first horse stuff pack” similar to what they did with pets probably to add what “we asked for” when in reality it could of been in the actual pack
I want this pack so bad. It’s ‘only’ forty dollars, but I really can’t afford it. I don’t even think my parents will be able to afford it for Christmas. They seriously need to make these packs more affordable.
NEVER buy full price!! expansion packs eventually go 50% off during sales!! they have sales every 2 months or so. the new packs usually go 20-30% off and maybe a year later they will go 50% off too.
We really need a real equestrian to create games like this with accuracy and all seats. I can’t play these games without some realness. Too frustrating
@@wildoranges I mean.. some do 🤣 but I see your point. However I’m just glad the sims added sleeping both standing up and laying down even if it means they’ll do it in random places or situations which a horse wouldn’t irl 🤗
My big fat boy Chance used to sleep laying down all the time. He’d sprawl out, or tuck his hooves against his chest and belly and lean his head forward and snooze. Eventually all the horses started sleeping laying down 😅
18:52 don't horses sometimes sleep lying down? I have seen them do it from time to time. I mean sure they can sleep standing up but they can also sleep lying down?
🎯 You hit like every beat that bugs me abt this pack 😁 There's a lot I like, but so many bits that got me like, "EA, fam, you shoulda spent a little more time consulting w equestrians on this one 😅"
Raleigh pretty much stated the same things I was thinking when I first saw gameplay videos. I'm betting they will add another stuff pack that includes more horsey clutter, as well as English styles, which is annoying. I've never used mods in Sims but I might try some out when there are some for English! I love the new build items they have though for the barns and stables. I really wish they had more clutter we can use for tack rooms!
thing that really saddens me is that there is no hight difference in breeds, i was so looking forward to have ponies too. Oh wait that sounds like the perfect pack that they release for that money
I doubt they'll add height differences, they're too lazy for that. The only height differences in dogs is large and small dogs. A great dane is the same size as a dog like a german shepherd
Courses was something I loved in Sims 3, they could have added that and maybe cross country courses too, it's a disappointment for old school simmers that know what could have been done. 😬 I haven't played this pack yet but I hope you can ride other sims horses so you could make a riding facility with a lot of horses where you could practise before getting your own. Haven't seen anyone test that out yet so have to give it a try.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has a lot of horse interactions being a western game. Grooming. Feeding. Petting. Giving health tonics all part of the game. Services at the stables, to me, is the hoof care. Very good game horse wise
Im not going to say something about the game or the sims community because im so tired of this. I watched the interview from one of the developers who took ther whole team to a barn to show them how horses act and so on. She basically said that horses are family members and not things you use for your fun and the training methods and punishing horses are outdated. That alone made me love her because she actually knwos what 90% of the questrian community dont get.
I really wish there were horse related careers eg horse training, caretaking etc that are actually interactive instead of the usual rabbitholes. The competitions and community jobs are rabbitholes already which honestly makes me sad
I agree, they should add courses, maybe let the riders do ground work with their horses besides grooming. I enjoy playing it, but there’s room for improvement for sure.
I’m sure the CC community will start making CC for sims and horses. I was very happy that we got western clothes because most horse games don’t have western styles and I was worried it would be the same here
I have to disagree about being forced to wear horse riding gear to ride. I like that the Sim doesn't automatically get changed, as that isn't how it works in real life either. Normally you'd get changed BEFORE going to the barn, not after tacking up your horse. XD If you want to, you can make your Sim get changed beforehand as well, but it's good that it's optional, as it is in real life aswell. Sure, riding in a dress may not be the most comfortable option in real life, but it is physically possible... The less restrictions they put in the game, the better. Completely agree about the lack of proper obstacle courses though. What a shame.
Being a little late but actually, what i have studied, full grown horses need REM-sleep approximately 30mins per day and they can get to the REM stage only by sleeping laying down. Or that´s what we get taught here in Finland :)
I get being dissapointed by it only being western and its lacking alot of care items but Sims is a money making game that gets constant cash flow from packs etc. So no doubt everything we want thats not here will be a $15 dollar stuff pack down the line.
I've heard Horse Breeding isn't really a thing beyond maybe traits. The Foal will look like only one of the parents, no cross-over of features or markings.
@@user-yb6bb1lc3k Don't get me wrong, EA should definitely provide packs filled with content. But no matter how filled the packs are, modders will always be able to do so much more. EA can't create thousands of items for one pack, modders can.
Love watching you play! 😂 the Sims 3 horses was my favorite, but this sims 4 horses has been very disappointing :( no english riding clothes, can't connect jump courses, can't even set up 3 barrels together, only one kind of English saddle and only 2 saddle pads with a few swatches, only one set of leg wraps...I really thought this would be more fleshed out FOR horses. Highly lacking and buggy
What is going to make this game amazing IS the custom content/mods and the amazing custom content/mods creators are creating! I have spent hours finding (Tumblr is your place for finding constently new all things Horse/Equestrian Sims4 CC/Mods) AMAZING content from realstic Jumping saddles, Lemuix brand English saddle pads, Dressage Saddles (including one that was a direct import from SSO's Dressage Saddle!) and mods to make the horses look much, MUCH more realistic. Also, there are amazing custom created items for building better barns, barn decor, riding arenas, more jumps and the list goes on and on. It is all amazing. I am hoping someone can create a mod for us to have ponies/pony breeds in realistic pony sizes (Connemaras, Welsh Sections A/B/C, ect and even Minatures and Shetlands!) and also I REALLY PRAY someone makes a breeding genetics mod to give us REALSTIC breeding genetics so that when we breed horses the foals can actually inherit the coat color genetics/conformations of their Dam and Sire!
Anybody notice there doesn't seem to be customization options where you change the stockings/socks for horses? You can't even save horse coats except on an individual horae in the library.
I bet they will add a lot more but break it up in small packs so they can charge us a ton. Thanks for doing the review on this because I was wondering about it.
Gurl I feel you. I was so hyped, and wished for this since day one.. but such a big lack of content.. sims 3 had so much more to do with the horses. The courses missing is the worst... It's just too boring, I cant even play it for hours, getting bored rly fast
I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way about Cottage Living, I was so excited for the chickens, the cow, and the llama. I was bored after only THREE HOURS of gameplay.
0:19 Not even a horse person but raised in farm country and first thing I noticed was no round pins sometime im going to see if we can build one but bet someone will beat me to it 1:10 At this point I have mounting dread for this lovely simmer…
Great video! Yes round pens would have been a super easy addition and I wish draft horses were huge and we had miniature horses. I'd have liked to have seen more details like farriers and vets. All in all they did a great job with the animations though. I wish they would have had family trees for horse breeding. The foals are great but I want to see champion bloodlines. Horses do sleep laying down though by the way just not for long periods of time.
I’ve only just started the video so sorry if I make any points that you’ve already made; I’m not an equestrian myself but looking over a few videos aside from gameplay I was Really surprised they didn’t include more CAS stuff for the horses. Like I was thinking about those full body blankets for cold weather, halters, the eye Mask things for flies, etc and why don’t your sims automatically put a helmet on when They mount a horse? I mean they do for bikes right?
I love you RALEIGH your horse is so cute and amazing 🤩 pls give me some tips for riding so I can tell my coach I do use a soft bit because that is what I use at my barn sadly have a great day or night 🌉
What are some equestrian game reccomendations? I know I played a DS game called Pony Friends as a kid and it was fairly accurate care for the horse except the diet only let you feed thier favorite food and you could only trail ride not any other discipline but it was still neat. Wish it had more to it. I liked that you had to clean thier hooves or they'd get trush that you must treat and have to groom them or they get botfly which you also must treat.
i also thought there wasn’t any english clothes, but they have one option in the outfit tab. i just had to remove the tags at the top which were feminine and smth else!
You should play Rival Stars Horse Racing! (Yes a racing game but its really fun and addicting!) They have cross country as well and they just added a new breed to mobile; The Selle Francais. You can breed such cool and unique coat patterns and colours, compete in races and CC events and there's a story line. Its a really good game and the graphics are awesome. You can play it on PC and Mobile. On PC you can custom create your own horses and even bet on races. Mobile you can enter live races to win gold, tack and even other horses and you can pay monthly to join the star club that offers lots of exclusives and daily rewards. I play Mobile but heard PC is just as good and its a lot easier to breed better coat patters. They update the mobile game way more frequently than PC tho so just a warning.
I think there's definitely room for growth, but the pack hasn't even been out for 24 hrs yet. I think they will be adding things, and we need to give them time to do that and listen to our feedback. Nothing is perfect right away, and I don't think we should expect it to be super realistic. Especially not right out the gate.
No, they don’t. EA usually doesn’t even fix all bugs their Sims Packs come with. Wedding Stories is still (almost) unplayable with dozens of bugs that are in the game since release (February 2022). Hell, Dine Out is broken since release (June 2016). The only pack that’s ever been overhauled (new added game play, new stuff, etc.) was Spa Day - after 6 years!!! It took them 6 years to actually listen to the players. And we didn’t even got another overhaul for packs that have been way worse since then (September 2021). This is not a Beta, Horse Ranch is a „finished“ release in the eyes of The Sims 4 and EA. Please don’t defend their crap, they have been doing this for years.
For $40 i DO expect a completed pack day one with no major updates, especially from a billionaire net worth company. Even so, no matter how much they update the game it wont lead to the expectation of what an expansion pack should have in it. Their update will be releasing a horse stuff pack costing you another $14.
As a simmer who doesn’t know a lot about horses I would love to see side by side comparison of real life and the game like bucking or how they hold the reigns
Aww handsome horse man . I'm definitely going to wait until it goes on sale cuz it's not worth that full price at least me no real unicorns no ponies and no horse onesie for adults or teenagers or kids could have been more. But alas I'm just happy there's horse mods probably expand this a lot too.❤🐎
You may want to try this game .... Star Equestrian .... I just started playing and it seems to be really cool game. Unfortunately it's only on mobile but am hoping they bring out a PC version. I may give Sims 4 Horse Ranch a miss for now.
For me it def feels like if they're gonna bring in an old pack like horses they should have everything from sims3 and more new item in the pack revamp cuz this doesn't look like a $40 value when sims 3 has more things in it for horses. Also missing the stuff you mention as like key items you should have for your horse and they said they even talked with riders about what horses entail...
Every time The Sims team releases something that slightly disappoints I’m always reminded that the sims community is so talented that a modder will fix everything the have either forgot to fine tune or left out entirely. I think we are yet to see some greatness to nod both to Western and English riding but it’ll be coming from the modded community, good thing about it is it’ll be free at least 😁
For only 3 dlcs, including this one, I’ve spent a bit over 100 dollars on those alone. I’m at least happy that I bought the base game when it was on sale for like 4 dollars. Though, I still 100% want those few dollars back, bet you most ppl after finding out the game became free feel the same way. Also, hopefully they actually go back and add stuff to this expansion pack, though I somewhat doubt that they’ll add more content rather than just fix bugs and stuff
13:41 Me when I got this pack: WHY DOES IT KINDA LOOK LIKE THE HORSE IS HUMPING THE BALL😂DOMINANCE OF THE EXERCISE BALL❤😂(ik it’s not actually humping it I just thought it was funny)

btw in sims 3 you actually can customise markings to every little detail, there's no brush tho so u have to play with placing rotating etc shapes that given, OR download cc stuff, so basically you can, but not with a brush tool
or you make them yourself.
Hi! Do you have any horse games that you love/ is worth it?😅❤
And I wish they had more horsemanship options for properly bonding and training the horse, and maybe even riding lesson arenas or riding lesson instructors, etc. And the jumping course! Nooo I was super upset that you can only do one jump! & I've always wished we could watch competitions too, I don't know why they don't make that a thing as entertainment. And more competition options like pretty much every kind of competition there is. Just because it's specific to horses 🫤
it would be so cool if they introduced a new career as a trainer (they could even have it branch off into like lesson instructor or horse trainer)

Oh to have a simulation game as detailed as Nintendogs but for horses
@@PredictableEnigma Heck, to have a dog training/owning game as detailed as Nintendogs, but updated to 2023 standards! I would be all over that! Considering what a huge hit Nintendogs was at the time, it's really surprising that no other game developers have tried to fill that niche yet. I don't even care what animal species, I just want a game that has nuanced animal husbandry and training stuff.
I was waiting for your reaction video since before they announced horses in the Sims 4 😍🥰
THEY DID?!!??
@@WriterC714RIGHT???
Bare minimum cost less and more profit. EA has a history of cutting corners just to fatten the bottom line. Enjoyed your review.
"Bare minimum" sums it up perfectly. 👍
But how does a full game like rdr2 cost 40$ , has +300 hours of gameplay and very good animated horses which make only 1% of the game
@@vika5655 RDR2 is also running on better game engine without a scrapped multiplayer version. So it makes sense. That's why Sims 4 lacks in everyithing... But in my opinion you can't and shouldn't compare two different games with to different companies. The budget is not the same sadly.
@vika5655 not to mention the years Red Dead had, Rockstar does quality over quantity, EA does quantity over quality unfortunately
@@fabiancsernak1763 I know but rdr2 has good quality and is like 40$ and sims has multiple expansion packs and each is like 50$... seems kind of off.
40 bucks is crazy. I’ll just stick to red dead:) 🤷♀️
It will probably go on sale in a few months, so you can likely get it then!! But yeah. The packs are absurdly expensive 😢
Ea is such a greedy company, hopefully it goes on sale soon enough
Honestly just do what I did and join the dark side
NEVER buy full price!! expansion packs eventually go 50% off during sales!! they have sales every 2 months or so. the new packs usually go 20-30% off and maybe a year later they will go 50% off too.
I really hope they update the game eventually and add more English stuff, as well as more realistic features.
20:06 it’s crazy how they let us make training courses for dogs but not horses
We really need a real equestrian to create games like this with accuracy and all seats. I can’t play these games without some realness. Too frustrating
Completly agree...
it's so sad that they can never do things right.. but I'm sure that modders are going to make the stuff that's missing
So excited for this! Love the sims but I don’t want to buy a pack. Been waiting for this!
Raleigh what do you mean horses don't sleep laying down 😄 occasionally they do, right! All horses need a bit of deep REM sleep every now and then ❤
@@wildoranges I mean.. some do 🤣 but I see your point. However I’m just glad the sims added sleeping both standing up and laying down even if it means they’ll do it in random places or situations which a horse wouldn’t irl 🤗
I was thinking the same thing lol.
My aunts horse sleeps outside and laying down sometimes.
So her saying that was so confusing to me
Yeah, plus horses in ts4 can sleep standing up, i played this pack earlier today and i def saw it happening
So excited thanks for doing this! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So excited to see this!
18:57 actually a lot of human owned horses sleep laying down nowadays.
Me and my sister loves Sims 4 but we haven't bought any packs yet because we don't like spending money on games a lot
18:56 horses can and sometimes do sleep laying down :)
Being a little late but actually, what i have studied, full grown horses need REM-sleep approximately 30mins per day and they can get to the REM stage only by sleeping laying down. Or that´s what we get taught here in Finland :)
Horses do sleep laying down? For at least 3 hours a day for adequate rest
I loved playing old school Nintendo ds horse vet games... 💜💛💜 Great gameplay girly!!!
Horses do spend some time sleeping lying down. They have their deepest sleep stages only when lying down.
In Sims 3, my sim insisted on riding in a short black dress and high heels despite having a riding outfit. 😅
The sims 3 horsegirl modders were INSANELY talented. We just needed EA to give us horses, modders will do the rest honestly.
RIP console players
and all the other consoles? there’s FOUR pet packs with no where near the content Sims 3 pets had.
@@user-yb6bb1lc3k Don't get me wrong, EA should definitely provide packs filled with content. But no matter how filled the packs are, modders will always be able to do so much more. EA can't create thousands of items for one pack, modders can.
I love how you call it game pack all the time (even if unintentionally) it’s just very fitting because its a game pack… not an expansion pack
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!!
I don't play computer games much or own a horse but it is still fun watching you set up the ranch! 😂
I've been told that horses can lay down when they're sleeping. Now i'm comfused.
"Horse legs don't look like that." they do if the horse is in fourth stage heart failure I guess lol
They left it put so after you buy the pack they cam get you to buy the DLC that should have been included with the pack in the first place.
I bet they will add a lot more but break it up in small packs so they can charge us a ton. Thanks for doing the review on this because I was wondering about it.
You can make any horse a unicorn also. Children can also ride (not baby or toddler). Children will only ride on english saddles.
I wonder if the custom content creators will fill in a lot of the gaps with english riding attire and tack
I love that you did this video because I can’t get it so I’m happy you did this video!
I hope they will add with a update that you can lead you're horse and that you can make a spring parcour.
I loved the jump courses in the Sims 3 .... and you could also lead your horse!!!!!
Link has such a cute face!
The way link looks so much taller than in real life 😂
“Oh he’s asleep” 🥰
“Okay byee” 😀
Gurl I feel you. I was so hyped, and wished for this since day one.. but such a big lack of content.. sims 3 had so much more to do with the horses. The courses missing is the worst... It's just too boring, I cant even play it for hours, getting bored rly fast
I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way about Cottage Living, I was so excited for the chickens, the cow, and the llama. I was bored after only THREE HOURS of gameplay.
@@SevenEllen omg yesss! I stopped coz it's so boring 🥲
Horses do actually sleep while they are laying down and when they are standing and kinds sleeping it’s napping for them
0:19 Not even a horse person but raised in farm country and first thing I noticed was no round pins sometime im going to see if we can build one but bet someone will beat me to it
1:10
At this point I have mounting dread for this lovely simmer…
Great video! Yes round pens would have been a super easy addition and I wish draft horses were huge and we had miniature horses. I'd have liked to have seen more details like farriers and vets. All in all they did a great job with the animations though. I wish they would have had family trees for horse breeding. The foals are great but I want to see champion bloodlines. Horses do sleep laying down though by the way just not for long periods of time.
Since i thought i saw a horse sleeping while laying down so I Googled it...yes they do sleep laying down and also upright.
In sims 3 you can make markings on the face the way you want. I do this all the time
I’ve only just started the video so sorry if I make any points that you’ve already made;
I’m not an equestrian myself but looking over a few videos aside from gameplay I was
Really surprised they didn’t include more CAS stuff for the horses.
Like I was thinking about those full body blankets for cold weather, halters, the eye
Mask things for flies, etc and why don’t your sims automatically put a helmet on when
They mount a horse?
In this horse game I am all here for the goats 😂
horses do sleep laying down there’s two types of sleep which i forgot the names and every horse needs both
Anything lacking can probably be gotten thru cc thankfully. I’m so excited
i also thought there wasn’t any english clothes, but they have one option in the outfit tab. i just had to remove the tags at the top which were feminine and smth else!
They're for sure teasing cars with the horse trailer!
They actually forgot the salt Stones... even when it was a feature in Sims 3
Of course EA releases jet another unfinished expansion pack.😭
Really cool ^^ but Raleigh, it's not true that horses don't actually lay down to sleep. My horse lays down every night
Only things that annoy me is not being able to jump multiple obstacles and not being able to ride bare back…
I’m waiting for the mods to make this an actual horse game
Maybe you'll get more jumps as you level up? Also they have left everything open for more add on packs
I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a separate stuff pack for English riding style stuff.
As a simmer who doesn’t know a lot about horses I would love to see side by side comparison of real life and the game like bucking or how they hold the reigns
Can you try Rival stars? I really like to play it and I love your videos but I am sad your gonna stop when the year is over☹️
Aww handsome horse man . I'm definitely going to wait until it goes on sale cuz it's not worth that full price at least me no real unicorns no ponies and no horse onesie for adults or teenagers or kids could have been more. But alas I'm just happy there's horse mods probably expand this a lot too.❤🐎
I really like to see gaming videos from you it’s so much fun
Would love to see you play Star Stable Online!
13:41 Me when I got this pack: WHY DOES IT KINDA LOOK LIKE THE HORSE IS HUMPING THE BALL😂DOMINANCE OF THE EXERCISE BALL❤😂(ik it’s not actually humping it I just thought it was funny)
omg they are prolly gonna have another pack for the english cause that is suspicious
Hey, Raleigh, I ride horses but I don’t know much about them. I wanted to learn more about them but I don’t know where to start. Are there any websites or books I can read or any I should avoid?
Tell me you hired a person who knows nothing about horses to animate your horses without telling me.
