Yeah…always a great sign that such a person would be a solid person to maintain the horse’s proper upkeep - they stole the horse but surely will be willing to pay for vet care and proper feed and maintain proper shelter and grooming of the horse they stole two months before Christmas to “surprise a kid” sigh…also of course this person who stole a horse would also be willing to invest in safe tack so the kid isn’t in danger…yikes.

reminds me of a story I read, about the town bully in some small town (I don't think that the town was named) who messed with people constantly, broke laws, and was just generally hated by everyone, but the police never could quite catch him for good. Then one day, in the middle of the day he got shot dead on the street. You would think, it's an ordinary day, it's still light out, public road in the middle of the town, people all around, the shooter was probably witnessed by like five separate people, it's an open and shut case, right?
Yeah, well, "no one saw anything". Zero witnesses. "No one knows" what happened. The shooter was never caught in the end.

@@SuperSkyhorse I grew up on the outskirts of a small town and everyone was close knit. A neighbor threatened to shoot my dog for barking at his cows when we rode past on our weekly dairy farm runs (He put his bull up against our property line and it antagonizes our dogs and horses). Long story short my grandpa heard about it and he got a letter signed by all the neighbors along our dirt road and some of the people in town telling him that if my dog was ever shot he wouldn’t have anymore cows to worry about. That was back when I would ride to the dairy farm a few miles away and bring back everyone’s usual order for the week so me and my dog were well loved by all of our other neighbors.

I remember there was a similar case to Whisper over here in the UK way back in 2013. It was a little 11hh grey pony called Tic Toc belonging to a 5 year old boy that went missing just before Christmas, he was also believed to be stolen. The story was huge here, so many were talking about it and looking for him all around the country, people were doing search parties, even helicopters and search dogs were offered with a large cash reward for his return.
Sadly he was found a couple of months later deceased in a watery ditch about half a mile away from home, still to this day nobody knows what actually happened to him but there was a lot of speculation and controversy, some believe he was stolen but then dumped nearby after the publicity, others think he just escaped, regardless his story is horribly tragic. It's really sad that Tic Toc didn't get a happy ending, but I'm glad Whisper did.

well... this was one of the biggest fears of my area for horseowners some years back in west area of Czech Republic.
Here, there was a woman and her son, who were stealing horses and smuggle them to Germany, which borders are really nearby...
When start heavy raining, snowing or on foggy days, people feared for their horses on pastures, but even in the stables....
Their approach was quite the same... first, they'll roam the area in regular car, tiping the horses out. Then they would map the behaviour of their owners, when they are at home, when they are out... and then they'll normally wait for bad weather or night to steal the horse...
But there are records of her even falsing horse death, a girl give her horse to her facility (back then nobody knew what she's doing and she had regular stables), as she went abroad for studying. This woman told her, the horse died. but there was no record of dealing with the horse body or anything, which later came to conclusion she faked it and steal the horse...
She also had registeres Quarter Horse stallion at her barn, and once man took his mare there for breeding. She faked the documents of that mare and stole her too... But luckily this time, the man found her and took her back.
At some point, people started suspect her for being a horse thief, but since nobody had any concrete evidence it was just allegations against allegations....
Once, which I found really scary, man found his horse stolen, he immediately camer to look for him, only to saw this woman leading this horse near german borders... he called police. She claimed she found the horse and was leading him back where she though he got missing... SHE GET AWAY WITH IT!!!!! THE POLICE LET HER GO FOR NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE!
Since west part of the country start knowing her, she actually started to widen the rage and been stealing horses from other part of the republic too...
Once, welsh pony of really rich and famous man here was stolen in south part of Czech Republic... but by some infos, he knew it was her doings... that man called her, and threaten her to xxx her if she did not return the horse.... although she sweared she have nothing to do with it, the horse was magically appeared about 100 Km away in field...-with a halter that was not even his.
Now, majority of these horse was branded and later in, they were also microchipped (in Czech its compulsory by law to have horse chipped). It did not stopped her... she knew where take these horses that nobody cared.
We really talking about amount of horses that reach around 60-100 horses stolen.
In the end, she was actually found guilty of some horse thievery, and for several other reasons (owning unauthorised guns) she was expulsed from our country...
Her son unfortunatelly was not, and he found some friends from back then and from time to time he also was the main suspect of horse thievery.... But luckily everyone knows him and last time I needed to deal with him (he was roaming around pasture with my mare in it) was 8 years ago...
Now, mostly horse thieves from Poland are big fear for people in East past of Czech...
believe me, cameras, chips.... that crap don't matter to them, they'll roam the areal thorougly, mapping any sight of cameras ahead....
ALWAYS!!! ALWAYS look around the pasture and your facility.... for anything suspicious... the same car parking nearby often? Some weird people asking about the stable and horses- like ithey want to buy a horse or want to get riding lessons).... These people put real effort into it, its so freaking scary!!!

I understand that locally people will market horses that they don't own, just have taken pictures of, then steal the horse after someone buys or shows serious interest in it. I live near a kill lot, so that can be scary. Also, someone stole my oversized sheltie out of the fenced dog yard. I put signs in every store and restaurant for miles, on fences and telephone and light poles. Two weeks later he was dropped off in a field between the main road and the dirt road i lived on. He had obviously been fed and brushed. I'm not sure if he was returned because of the signs or because of how high maintenance he could be.

We have had our 1 very smart thoroughbred mare due just what you said was unlikely. She opened the Powder River gate INWARD after sliding the lever latch open so she could open the gate & escape with her daughters! We awoke to a whole bunch of drivers in front of our house hollering for us to allow them to pass on their way to work at 6am! The gate looked closed because of its being opened towards the front of our farm. No one person did that as everyone around here is 1/2 scared of our very fast & gentle horses. We have since chained & padlocked that side gate! The horses also are able to open our outside handle-less garage doors faster than we can if we forget to lock them from the inside! Of course everyone can tell which bedroom is ours as the horses normally stand as close to our window as they can. If they could they would love to sleep in the house!

I can tell you that we now have homeless that park on the edge of the property and break into neighbors place and squat there when the neighbor was almost moved out. I am a light sleeper anyway but people aren't going to get on this property without one of us knowing it. Security cameras are just a blessing. Thank god the way I have my gate set made it lock my other horse in the run in stalls and he didn’t push the gate to get out. The gate is also blocked from being pushed outward unless done with force so the gate would have stayed closed, or even closed by itself if it was only slightly opened and let go. But it was pushed all the way inward. I had found grass clippings in my paddock a week prior like someone had ripped up grass and fed it to them.
On a side note, the vet clinic LITERALLY next door decided it was below him (the owner) to help when the lady who almost hit her ran to them for help 🙃
    It’s terrifying out there y’all.

ALL our horses are chipped, & I (probably) have too many cameras…but, I’d rather have too many than not enough!!
When the cameras are tripped? It looks like landing lights on a jet!! Almost blinding! Plus, we still have that good old fashioned “cowboy justice” in place! Our places, are very remote. We don’t mess around!except 🤠🐴

How awful but thank goodness for the neighbours searching.
This is when social media is really good.. Horses would not separate. We had 4 get out 30 years ago and they all trotted down to a neighbouring farm where there was a stallion.
We got them all back safely and no damage done.

My mother has pigs, the kunekune ones. Her sow abandoned her baby and my mom bottlefed it. So it was just roaming around the yard like a dog. Someone was caught on camera grabbing her and driving off. She was like 15 lbs. The cops were involved and escorted my mother to the house where the car was registered to. She could hear the pig screaming from inside. They didn't even come outside, they just threw the pig on the porch and Xena ran to my mother. They thought they were getting a free pet and got instant Karma instead lmao RIP their eardrums because i couldn't even pick her up without hearing damage

Oh god there was something similar in france of someone slitting horses throats!? And trying to disembowel some. Thankfully i think the ones that only had had their throat slit lived as horses have a lot of blood and it wasnt done by someone in the know about it. Why tf are people so horrible and awful

not far from shoe season, my trainer owned a beautiful bay mare who had rlly long main and tail, my trainer said she went out to feed the horses and she saw that her mare was missing her whole tail. and the trail snatchers didn’t do a good job bc they left their dollar store like scissors in the muddy pasture 😃

My worst nightmare. I worked hard to get my horses from fat about to founder bad hoofs that no one wanted to the perfect weight happy healthy horses and now I get offers for my babies. I’d never sell my mini or my halflinger they’re my babies my worst fear to have my babies taken for slaughter or for someone else, my horses have very specific cues and needs and I’ve obviously bonded with them.

Binge watching your videos on a long car ride while eating chips and a donut is the best 🤭❤️ I agree with other people commenting on this saying that since it was so close to Christmas, some parent wanted to surprise their kid with a pony and a horse, yet they didn't want to pay for it. I'm glad that both horses were unharmed and reunited with their owner, but i agree that whoever did this needs to be punished. I cant imagine aaking up on your sons birthday and your horses being gone. If someone stole my horse, I would be right there with you in jail for murder lol 💀 anyways, thank you for all of the time, work, and effort you put into your videos! I really love all of your content, and this series is awesome! ❤❤

This is so fascinating because it was obviously someone who owns horses themselves. See, a horse trailer costs a lot of money especially to a non horse person, to know how to trailer a horse, to unhalter and take off a blanket, it’s obviously a horse person. Maybe they stole whisper knowing she’s a mare to breed her for her markings and got scared and released her or were going to sell for slaughter. It’s just fascinating they took the pony and not the horse, could’ve sold in many directions. Also just a few days before CHRISTMAS? Maybe they stole whisper as a present for a child or a lesson pony. I hope if we ever find out it’s from confessions and not another stolen horse. They’re obviously gonna do it again they might have gotten spooked by this a little but they have a trailer and common horse sense definitely not regular sense though. I really hope whisper and that larger horse are safe. I hope she gets cameras even though they are expensive as well as a code lock or key. One other thing is keeping your horses unhaltered and putting the halters and leads inside a locked building like the barn or a shed, a lot of horse thieves (not very good ones) will not bring spares, but more experienced ones will. I think it’s pretty stupid to steal a backyard pony, you don’t even know if it’s broke. Prayers for her owner.
