To explain the most likely reason here. Since the mass shooting in Moscow, Russia has gotten hyper strict in letting foreigners in. I know several people from The US/EU who have been denied entry to Russia for things like memes on their phones etc. This is likely related to this sudden change in policy. I know all of the sizable RUclipsrs here and I have never heard of anything like this happening from the Belarusian side. Side note, US/UK/AUS passport holders never use this border because the Polish side has been blocking entry for several years. This is common knowledge amongst expats here. The only other reason could be related to the upcoming elections in Belarus. Given this and the foreign interference in 2020, it seems odd that you would tell them you're a RUclipsr. You can literally say any job in the world that isn't political, they aren't exactly going to ring your employer 😂

I think the biggest issue was your "relationship" with Poland(your video from a few months back), amplified with you coming through the border with Poland.. The politics between Belarus and Poland are not good. Belarus regime keeps sending violent criminals posturing as "refugees" across the border. We post people with automatic weapons on the border, because they already managed to kill one young soldier, so a law was passed that allows us to shoot when attacked. Btw it is really eye opening to see the 1420 episodes from Belarus. Highlights/memorable experiences included: • No one speaks English - my friend saved my ass, especially given whenever police hear you speak English they think you're a spy or something and demand you show your bag. The train station in Minsk has zero English - they've actually removed it a few years ago. • The Stalin Line - The Soviet defence line from WW2 with plenty of WW2 hardware, staffed by hardcore Russophiles - you can wave your national flag at the site flagpole since they have every flag there to wave - some Scottish tourists apparently gave them theirs since Scotland wasn't a country. • Khatyn - Genuinely haunting, as unsettling as Auchwitz. • They aren't joking about how cheap it is. Entire dinners for a couple of euros. • Brest Fortress - Best Socialist Realist Art out there, the story's pretty incredible too. • Women are exceptionally beautiful to the extent that the locals stereotype Western tourists as s*xpests. I was not going to mess around in Belarus anyway so my interaction with them was zero. • Old people like Russia, young people hate Russia, EVERYONE hates Lukashenko. When I tried to go to Soviet themed restaurants and bars, my friend was laughing that I wanted to go to 'those boomer places'. My friend made the experience quite fun and memorable. Great place to visit, but you're out of your mind if you want to live there - the repression isn't as bad as it was after the 2020 protests but it's still bad, worse than Russia for sure.
Hey, have you ridden the metro in Minsk? If you did, how did you like the latinized names of the stations? I can read those no problem as a local, but I'm really curious about a foreigners perspective on this.

So I contacted many hotels in Belarus but none of them will make an invitation for you. Not sure if Europeans need this invitation too but it's just information for Americans. The visa free regime only applies if you enter the country via Minsk National Airport from a country other than Russia. To enter the country via the land border, you must get a visa from the Embassy of Republic of Belarus in London.
As a side note, this system had caused me issues before. In February of 2022, I had flown to Belarus from London via Istanbul under the visa free regime. About a week later, I woke up to see Mr Putin on the TV giving an hour long speech about starting the SMO and suddenly Gomel, the city I was in, was filled to with Russian soldiers and IL-76s landing at the airport all day. I went into burger king and there was a sea of digi-camo and Russian flags lmao. Of course, all the flights got cancelled and to leave the country I had to find a way to leave via the land border, which was possible by going to the local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and getting an exit visa, I then left via Lithuania. I have returned several times since then, getting a visa from the embassy in London, and then going via Vilnius and getting the bus. At no point have I had any difficulty at the border, I have always been let straight through. (That could be because I've been there 12 times and am married to a Belarussian citizen though)

I wanted to travel to Belarus from Russia this year but as an American, you need a visa and in order to get a visa, you need an invitation. In Russia, hotels can register an invitation for you. So I contacted many hotels in Belarus but none of them will make an invitation for you. Not sure if Europeans need this invitation too but it's just information for Americans. Americans cannot cross land border in Belarus and may only fly to Minsk airport.
