The only tweak conceptually I would dare suggest. Would be that it's not a continuum of uncertainty to certainty. As I see it a 0 represents a state of absolute certainty that the prospect wants nothing to do with you, your product or your company respectively. Where as a 10 represents the opposite. A 5 represents a purely neutral postion.
JB, What's your view on understanding the constrains of your buyer? Does that matter when you score 10 in all 3 dimensions you mentioned? Is there a different between can they buy your product and do they want to buy your product?
I don't know if you have already recieved an answer for this question, but he has said many times that the job of a salesman is to turn "Let me think about it", "maybe", "I like the product but xxx" to a big YES. Not "no" to a "yes". So there is a difference between if they can and want to buy your product. Ask them questions at the start of the sales encounter. Gather intelligence, and if it sounds like you can't fulfill their needs or that the problems your product solves doesn't apply to them, just be honest and tell them that you product problably isn't the right fit for them. Focus on the benefits ignore the negative views and instead build on those “ worries “ on how yours is better and doesn’t come with the wrinkles. Work their pain index and action index. Find their pain that you solve and work it and cross their take action threshold to get them to take action
