    Man you take a lot of pride in your work. Ive wondered how i could use my wire feed tool on a wrangler, glad i know its an option now. Ive been using T-handles, which takes a lot of effort and time, plus its easy to slip up . Thanks for the video

    Great job Alfredo. This is the kind of thing, where you just wish every person who worked on your car was this careful and meticulous. But you just know, most aren't...

    I have been thinking of getting the spider. I just did a jeep yesterday with my cable knife. I cut from the bottom corner up across the top then down the other side. Then I tape top and then finish cutting bottom last. No scratches.

    ive noticed the harbor freight pick tools lose their use very quickly. i know they are only $1 per set but ive had my snap on pick set for 3 years now and they havent broken. they work good as new and have really nice handles. id highly recommend them plus the snap on hook tool i use a lot. i have two and one that is dull for clearing the channel on door glasses works really well with a lifetime warranty

      Trevor Pemberton I stopped using them. I been using the husky brand from Home Depot, also bought some from Walmart and turns out they much better quality then the ones from harbor freight.

      Unless you plan on replacing the glass several times over it's probably best to have a tech do it for you (a good one that takes pride and care in their work much like this guy). The cost of the spider tool alone is probably more than you're going to pay someone to replace the windshield in parts and labor.

    Do you prefer the urethane cans over the sausages? Pretty much everyone I know uses the sausages, including our shop. Also a cool thing you should look into for these is a little tab that helps you set them and get the correct spacing between the car and the class as well as the pinch. Your jeep dealer should sell them, they are also in the latest Equalizer catalog. I can get you a part number if you want it, they are like a dollar for 4 of them. They are reusable and help you set it too. when I set solo I put a foam block, you could use anything box shaped and put it on the passenger side where the cowl would be, set the glass on that and set the drivers side. Then tape it and walk over and set the pass side. The box holds the glass even with where it sets in and is really easy.

      Thanks for the tip. I prefer cartridges rather than sausage is less bulky and it's lighter. Is a little more expensive but better for the shoulders. Thank you for watching.

    Brother all you need is a small, medium and large cold knife the quick release ones are your best friend a bit of soapy water in a spray bottle will help, these are truly one of the easiest pieces of glass to replace. You're wasting appt of time and expensive spider wire......but hey what do I know just a suggestion brother not many of us good glass guys left and young ones like us collaborating as far as information sharing . Message me if you need and suggestions

    I took my wrangler to this garage to replace my windshield and they literally just broke the glass and took it off by force, scratching the top side of the car. And the rubber/ black glue or whatever that is is non existent, so it looks really dumb. Super frustrated about it, wish I had someone like you do it lol.

  • @Cirdecus

    I noticed that windshield has no willy logos :(. I had a similar issue with non OEM windshields that safelite uses. Have to go to a dealership usually to get the real original parts

    how do you figire out when a windshield needs to have 5504g all in one primer applied to it or not?

    • @glassdude6996
      @glassdude6996 8 лет назад

      depends on type of glue your using an the frit band on the glass

      +glass dude on the seramic frid and none seramic frid bands?

    • @AlfredosAutoGlassRepairCorona
      @AlfredosAutoGlassRepairCorona  8 лет назад +1

      I use Dow line of products express & One urethane and 418 on gaskets . The 5504g could be use for priming glass when I need it to be ready in two minutes the clear glass primer takes 6 minutes to flash. For windshield with paint band one coat and two coats on windshield that don't have a paint band and also on flat laminated glass that doesn't have a paint band, also on encapsulated parts one coat only but first roughing the bonding area. Now on body scratches two coats of primer and two minutes in between coats. Thank you for watching my videos.

    • @joshuahalbstadt8813

      JK BLUE i use to work there at safelite. Breaking corner leaves glass on body of car which could scratch it. We where trained to use metal wire then hand wire it aka saw out with to handles with wire. Some guys may use their ezwire tool but most of us just handwired it out

    Alfredo...I've been the autoglass replacement industry for 35+ years.....Like your work my friend... I noticed you apply the urethane to the aperture and not the glass...Is this a personal preference, or is there a reason for doing so?

  • @mattlat7609

      Handwire from one side to the mirror button, stop remove wire. Repeat process on the other side... pow, it's out. 25 min job

    So that’s why Jeep leaks after having the windshield replaced.
    They cut the windshield to cowl seal.
