When my parents were alive we had their ears checked no cleaned regularly. The dementia can be worsened because of the hearing loss and the brain not being stimulated. But I definitely agree he would probably lose hearing aids
@@mrsdsalnorcal he compliments you as he cannot lie, so he states the obvious. You look in your early 30 or younger, and when I first saw you in one of Dan' s vids I thought you were Ed's grandaughther. Haha

Danielle, it worked out well that you caught him while he was still in his room, to see if he was getting up or getting some more rest. You got to avoid having to scooch him back to his room. ☺️🤭 I hope you have a fabulous day! Sending love from Saratoga Springs NY 🫶
The Hospice nurse for our loved one recommended we put a baby cam in our loved one's bedroom. We just did that (2 cameras) Making a world of difference in terms of keeping tabs on her. This helps when they get into the sundowning mode and start looking for a way out to go wherever it is they think they want to go. Peace of mind.
My dad had hearing loss too. Besides the Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. But, it wasn’t severe enough to need hearing aids. I get it when you have to repeat yourself to Ed. I’ve had to do that with my dad many times. Sometimes I’ve had to raise my voice to him. For him to be able to understand. But, I am always a soft spoken person.
Bless you Danielle it must be so frustrating for you both trying to explain to Ed that he lives with you and Dan. But he ALWAYS knows who you are he never fails to forget that information. I have my own thoughts on why this is but quite often he doesn’t remember who Dan is but you he never forgets. 😊 Have a great day today and you young lady need a casino night with your friends this weekend it’s been ages since you have been it seems. Anyway goodnight from Perth as it’s midnight here Wednesday night. Xx🥰🥰
I had to chuckle at “I was your only hope”. ❤😂 Cute answer! You’re a great example for all of us caregivers with elderly family living in our houses. My dad is 98! ❤
Our bodies are designed to follow a circadian rhythm which is effected by the sun rising. So if you want him to sleep longer, his room needs to be darker. I’d be finding some way to cover the window at the top of the curtains and keep the curtains closed! Room darkening even. If he sees lights on or his room is bright, he thinks it’s time to wake up.
I just can't imagine what it's like for him. Can anyone imagine waking up EVERY day and not remembering where you are, how old you are, why you live where you live, etc.. And, I know the caregiver side isn't fun either. Too bad they can't do something about his hearing though. Just makes it SO much more difficult/frustrating for you. Take Care Danielle ✌

It's amazing how identical he acts to Mariane the woman with dementia that I took care of for awhile until she fell and passed away at the hospital.. the hospital found her laying there dead in the morning.. left someone with dementia alone in a room and didn't check in on her all night nice right . Anyway. They all laugh when they get confused and it's because they are adults and as far as they know they live in there home and take care of themselves so when you approach them first thing in the morning when they are more confused then ever and say do you want me to dress you do you want to lay back down and talk to them like they are babys and your there parent they look at u like your the crazy one lol I mean they have no clue why your offering to dress them and ask them what there gonna do like there kids. So keep that in mind they don't understand and just saying things like that mean nothing to them it makes them weirded out and more confused.
It's challenging my wife and I take care of her 90 year old grandma same things😂always kinda nice were not alone, but we wouldn't have her Ina home or care facility this is really hard in ways on our eight year old, he always been around grandma, but different when we live together and there's that hard of hearing and asking the same question repeatedly, he's really trying to understand but tough 😊

How much more challenging it must be caring for Ed with the significant hearing loss he has. You guys are such great caregivers!
He is too stubborn to wear hearing aids and only destroys them. Otherwise he could probably hear.
@@lyndabelknap8367I think it has less to with being stubborn and more to the fact that he wouldn't know what they were and why they're in his ears
