Does it scrape the paint off when sliding through the guides, if you’re not ever so careful? I’m thinking maybe I’ll line the inside of the guides with felt.. maybe… if necessary. How has it held up? Thank you for this video! I was dreaming up this idea and looked online and your video was the best one for a sliding baby gate. Awesome tutorial!
I put felt on the inside to make sure nothing scraped off. It held up great kept the kids and dogs out of the kitchen. Just took it down a few months ago because the kids have grown up.
I’ve got a gate lock on the back side that secures to the wall. So with the guides I took 1 x 6’s and made an L shape, painted them and then secured them to the studs in the wall with 4” screws. We also lined the inside with felt to ensure they moved smoothly

Barn latch

Also how are you securing that gate from baby opening it?
