- Today we are talking about 5 Watches That Are CHEAPER and BETTER Than A ROLEX Submariner!
The Submariner is one of the most storied watches of all time with deep roots in various militaries as well as the James Bond franchise and has been worn by many other legendary actors, chefs, CEOs, you name it.
Relatively speaking, a Submariner is one of the better deals in terms of secondary market Rolex watches, meaning prices on Chrono24 are not too high above what they would be from a Rolex boutique. But you’ll still need to hand over roughly 14k for a new model on the secondary market. So, let’s take a look today at some viable Submariner alternatives that you may want to consider.

I just got a Seiko Prospex 1965 Re-Interpretation (SPB147J1) and it’s amazing value for money & looks & feels the business.
I am from Singapore. Here the Sub is 19K SG$.
I got a Panerai blue GMT (1033), Omega Seamaster 300m), Tudor GMT). 3 iconic brands (all Brand new not used) vs 1 fking Rolex. 😁
That is still the one you want.
@@eddiedantes7470 Nope. I am not an AD ass kisser 😂
lol but how beautiful is Panerai, I would take that over a rolex any day. don't care to be part of the herd ;)
That's crazy
Problem with alternatives are ... they are not the watch you want . You may get something else but will be looking at the watch you really want .
Nope, never wanted a submariner or any Rolex watch. These watches are alternatives not replacements.
I think this depends on how the alternative fits into your collection.
I love Rolex to death, but I am happy to see that people are looking for alternatives (I am too). This should put a dent in the overhyped over price gray market!
I agree with many of these watches, especially the Omegas and Tudors, but one thing to consider is the actual long term cost of buying a Rolex. I bought my Sub in 1997, when my small business had its first breakout year in sales, and kept it all this time until Rolex introduced the new 126610LN which I fell in love with. I then waited about 6 months on my dealer’s wait list to get one and I sold my old one on eBay for $8500, which was about 2 1/2 times the original purchase price, so my total out of pocket for the new one was a couple thousand dollars. The point of this is that I was actually paid to own my old Sub for the 24 years I owned it, which very few other watches can do. Only thing I ever did was two services, as it was dead perfectly reliable in all kinds of outdoor activities and sports. This new one will eventually be passed on to my adult son. How many things in life can you say that about?
what you're talking about is an investment - if you're talking investments, ti's a very different selection boiling down to Rolex & Patek pretty much and i guess now AP. Saying that, without a history at an AD, you won't get any at retail, which means you'll pay significantly more aftermarket, and then you have to judge if it wills till pay off long term.
I absolutely adore my hulk (my only watch left) but the prices of these things now is bonkers. but to your point i bought my wife her engagement ring & paid for our entire wedding with my watch collection (rolex's and AP's) so it's def something to consider.
I've owned seikos' that have gone up in price (3x) as well btw. (go for ltd edition, MM300's high demand that had limited avialability) - as well as other brands, and i will say they are "nicer" to wear, and in many cases better watches then rollies tech wise.
G-shock is the best tech wise period , they missed it on the list :D
Exactly.
The real question is does it matter whether you were paid to own a thing of beauty and joy or not as if one can afford such luxuries then it's neither here nor there. If one can sell for a profit later on great and if not it is no problem as the initial purchase was not an investment. All my planned investments have made way more profit than any watch could. I buy my watches strictly as luxury trinkets to be enjoyed and as a bonus they tell the time.
Why do folks brag about how they skimped on servicing
their Rolex at the required intervals?
I paid $1800 CAD for my Sub in 1989. Bought it new.
Cheaper not necessarily better lol. Man your selection of Rolex alternatives is spot on. I’d have also featured Oris but this selection is great and well presented. One selection you didn’t discuss is the Rolex alternative to Rolex. The prior aluminum bezel versions are more often than not overlooked by buyers. These proto-vintage models occupy that ethereal middle ground between the true vintage and modern Subs. In general cheaper and more available. IMHO They will be the next big thing with collectors going fwd
I have a 2002 CWC Royal Navy divers watch, which wasnt issued to the navy and CWC mothballed a small number and recently released for sale. It is 41 mm, 300m wr, tritium lume on a nato. These replaced Rolex when the Royal Navy wasn't prepared to pay the prices. The watch is bullet proof and frankly wouldn't swap it for any alternatives and love it !
With €15.000 I get myself a entire well balanced collection with high quality and luxury pieces and full of heritage.
There is NO submariner substitute, once it gets in your head you are just throwing money away on others until you finally get one (and you will) Seiko and Tudor are great, buy them because you like them not as a sub replacement
true , not the same but maybe 99 % as good or even better , except for the name and its cachet
agree with your list and review of each watch. would you include the seaq in this list?
My 3 go to divers that I have in my collection are SLA021J1, SLA023j1 and the Seiko LX. I am planning to get the Tudor BB 58 Bronze. Great video. Thanks for the upload.
I have three seiko's ,a Seiko 5, a Seiko turtle padi,... and the Seiko Sports. They are all nice reliable watches... but my eyes and heart keeps falling back on a Rolex ,maybe one day. there is something magical about a Rolex that just makes you feel totally complete, something that makes you feel like you can stop searching... And rest in peace.
Once you own it the fun stops.. but the search will continue
I recently made that leap from Seiko to Rolex and I feel like I found my exit piece and as a small time enthusiasts I do feel my collection is complete by having the Rollie I always wanted. That said I still love my Seikos and the watch I still wear the most is my mm200.
But one tip. If you really want the Rolex keep saving and don't buy any more or alternate watches as it just uses up the Rolex money. Eyes on the prize.
Start saving brother!
I have a modest 3 piece collection Explorer 1, Black Back GMT and a Seiko diver. I wear the Seiko the most.
Nice collection!! Thank you for sharing! 🙂
I always wanted a black Submariner until a former coworker bought a high-end knock off of one. Once I realized how prevalent fake Subs were and how often people ask Sub owners if it’s real, I was disinterested. I’m not paying over retail for people to assume I’m wearing a fake watch! I’m VERY pleased with the Omega Seamster Planet Ocean 39.5mm I bought instead.
Why worry about what other people think?
You are buying them for the wrong reason. You are one of the people buying to impress others and would be concerned that someone think it's fake.
If you are wealthy, then nobody in your circle would even consider you would buy a knockoff watch when you are living an otherwise extremely wealthy life. It just would make no sense.
@@s8nke because - you gotta admit - it would get annoying after a while to keep having to answer the question "is that a fake rolex ya go there??"
@@JayandSarah If a lot of people were being honest they would say they buy Rolex to impress people....Like wearing a Gucci logo tee....I personally like people not knowing what's on my wrist. So I have Tudor. Only watch people know it for now...
the fact your worried about other peoples view ,says more about you than anything else
That sweater is on point!
Phew, the scotch collection certainly is not….. 🥴
You have a Pelagos and still want a Submariner. Watch game is hard. So better buy your preferred watch right away.
Damn, I was going to mention the sweater, but some folks beat me to it. Really nice looking. And on a separate note, was the bezel on the retro Seamaster backwards?
Marathon 41mm Diver's Watch GSAR.
Legit the same quality. 100% watch, 0% branding for it's cost
Got my Seamaster 42 on a bracelet but it's on a OEM rubber at the moment. Purchased a Black Bay heritage 41 black bezel a few weeks ago on a bracelet and am loving it. My Seamaster's hibernating now until spring and the pair cost me £7000 way less than a sub and I'm not interested in selling them so residuals don't matter. Keep up the good stuff
Regards from England 👍🏴
That’s a better combo than a Sub anyway. Enjoy them!
seamaster still is my grail watch but the older ones from the 60's
You missed a HUGE one. The Breitling Superocean Heritage II with the B20 in house. Arguably best bang out there full stop.
If you can get one retail.
I have it and it’s such a great piece, but highly underrated.
Disagree, I'd rather get the speedmaster
@@tylerotaniconlon1990 get both ;) 😎
Thanks for sharing Paul!
When discussing Seiko, no mention of the Marinemaster 300 like the SLA023J1?
Personally If want to buy a Rolex sub alternative , I would stay away from the models or models that mimic the Rolex look.
I would go a different direction altogether. A Cartier, omega aqua Terra etc.
Nah. I think people should buy what they like. Lol
This video Is like fresh air, very well produced, I agree with almost All that's conveyed. Despite my having different tastes and more importantly lesser means, I would dare saying that JLC looks breathtaking: the 4# of the trinity indeed, while Omega looks really apt to Jezza. And to the nephew of Randy. Let me Just add that Addiesdive Quartz Sub Is a jewel and goodday everybody out there!
Hi, what is the brand of the pullover pleas. Thx
Nice, Pl give detail of old seiko 5 skx393 jdm, how it's best?
The MIDO Ocean Star is a killer watch.
Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays!
I got the green ocean star. However I will say the lume is disappointing. The watch size is big and there’s a lot of unused space on the dial. They should make the lume bigger
Perfect list, pleasant and informed delivery, well thought out commentary. Bravo.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have Covid at the moment and I have to say looking at my sub has helped cheer me up. Great list, I love Seiko watches
How was covid for you?
Sub was my first proper watch, and will therefor always keep a special place in the ever growing collection! Likely it will stay the only Rolex that I got with a discount ever :D
Omega Seamaster Proffessional Planet Ocean 43.5mm model 215.30.44.21.01.001
Or SMP 300 model 2254.50
Both excellent choices
2531.80 too old??
I agree with you on the Seiko divers. Been wearing my SBDC 127 as my daily for a while. Love it
Honestly, I own the 114060 submariner and the Grand seiko SBGA011 and in my opinions on the grand seiko far exceeds expectations to the rolex sub, accuracy, craftsmanship and qc, I mean buying a rolex sub now valued around 13000 how can you have a product like the lume pip cracking
I’m surprised the omega seamaster professional 300m diver wasn’t mentioned since it’s been the main competitor to the submariner since 1993 to present day.
If you want and love the submariner then go with a homage like Steinhart. These are just fantastic build and quality for $600-800 and a Swiss movement. I’m sorry but haters loath these but whatever, remember your buying to watch for you!!!
how about a citizen eco-drive diver for a few hundred ?
@@tjlee9901 for sure citizen are great as is seiko I have both!
Never get a homage. Ever. You look like a fool. Save up and get a real dive watch. You can get a Seamaster, Superocean, Black Bay, Pelagos, Planet Ocean, Grand Seiko diver, are just as good or better. No homage required. Even a Aqua-Racer. Oris Aquis, Hydroconquest, are good alternatives.
@@chelious1973 that’s your opinion. Not mine. Simple. Who cares who makes the watch the ONLY thing that matters is does wearing it make you happy?? YES Then it’s the right watch.!! Period. There is no argument to that unless you just want to argue endlessly and get nowhere which I don’t. And please don’t respond I’m just a dumb poor guy that hates the rich. Please that is such typical empty stupid argument. I have both Rolex and Tudor. Oh wow big deal. I love wearing seiko just as much.!!
@@gmotionedc5412. Ok buddy. Whatever you say. Enjoy your Steinhart. 👍 Never said anything about who makes it. Not smart to buy a homage when for $1000 more you can have a real dive watch with pedigree. You don't have to be rich to buy them, anyone can. Buy a watch that will retain its value or increase in value. Smart. You shouldn't hate anybody, you kind of sound like a complete whacko. And i am not rich. FYI
I actually really prefer my Omega SMP 300m over the Submariner. Yes the submariner is an icon, but it is very bland and does nothing for me. The SMP is perfect to me and it’s an absolutely stunning design with the ceramic wave dial.
Yup, I bought my Seamaster 300M in Nov of last year after wanting it for 25 years. Was offered a Sub earlier this year from an AD after the guy who ordered it decided not to buy it. This is a watch I never showed interest in much less asked for. I thanked him, but declined.
I used to own a omega 300M Panda and lost 30% after i‘ve sold it. Never again
@@jimlittle5769 when I first tried on a Submariner I was utterly underwhelmed lol I was like this is it? 😂🤦🏻♂️even the bezel had back play. But you made a solid choice 👌 merry Christmas 🎁🎄
@@rolexmike yeah that’s unfortunate with most Omega watches but I’m never selling mine so it doesn’t matter to me 😁
@@ticktology yeah, that's the thing with almost all watches from almost all brands actually. An extremely small few retain or appreciate in value. If one only buys those watches, they close the door to a plethora of fantastic watches.
Seiko probably the best tough daily beater... However they really need to fix up their QC and infamous misalignment especially on their over a grand watches.
Glashutte seaq 39.5 mm. Better case size. Better movement. Better finish.
Thanks for sharing!
Great choices. Tones of options out there. But there are also tons of videos offering alternatives. There is no alternatives. There are only options. But NO alternatives.
Ginault, SINN, Armida, Fanos, Matterhorn
What about Doxa, a watch worn and sold by Jacques Cousteau. Sinn makes great divers, some using tegimented submarine steel. Breitling has some nice diver models in their Super Ocean line. Mido makes affordable divesr that looks great, the Ocean Star line.
a who? Nobody knows what a doxa is. If you want brand prestige, even those ones you have listed can't hold a candle to even Omega. Brand brand brand.
@@JayandSarah are you wearing a watch or a medal of recognition?
Why the Indianapolis map behind the Blanchpain? Are you based out of Indy?
I am enjoying a VOSTOK 170548 Panerai style watch on my wrist.
I hope to own a real Panerai one day.
Got a no date 2020 sub, Tudor BB, BB58 and Pelagos. Which doesn’t get worn. No date sub and BB58. I always end up with my BB, which I love on a nato or my Pelagos. Both my BB and Pelagos are the ETA generation.
Also wear an Omega Seamaster 2531.80.00 too.
Sub is lovely design, but there are so many other great watches. 2022 aspirations 2020 Batman or maybe Seiko etc. would love the Omega 300 titanium, discontinued, but source able.
Casio Duro.
Omega Seamasters are great divers. Albeit every watch fan have it’s own favorites. Do not forget the Tag Heuer Aqua racer and one of my all favorite diver IWC Aqua timer. A bit expensive and high horology, Audemars Piguet made a very nice Royal Oak, the Off shore diver.
Absolutely! Thank you for sharing Sven!
@@Chrono24Official Also i have my favorite Rolex Submariners, like the Hulk, Smurf, and bleusy.
The 116610LV, if i can find one for a good price, i catch it.
I'm happy with my Aquaracer WAY2112 too.
I would definitely consider Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date as an alternative
I agree. It's a stunning watch and goes way under the radar. While the resale wouldn't be as good as a Sub, GO only makes 10,000 a year so you won't see one on every other wrist. It's high horology, much like the Blancpain.
Terrible power reserve though.
@@mickd4610 Really! 100 hours isn't enough for you? I'm referring to the Pano date, not the smaller SeaQ.
My mistake!
Absolutely, such a cool watch, with a really distinct dial and not a brand that everyone has.
I would add longines hydroconquest, tissot sea star 3000, and maybe a breitling.
What is your opinion on the Tissot Seastar 2000?
Oris and Tissot also have less expensive similar quality calibers to Rolex. The higher end of both brands has similar finishing and still come in a few thousand under Rolex.
Glasshutte Diver is amazing!!!!!
For a true alternative, does anyone make a comparable diver with comparable quality, with a bracelet that’s as high quality as a Rolex’s? I really like that quick-adjustment feature.
Glashutte SEAQ Panorama Date. Higher quality bracelet and the quick-adjust is tops in the industry. 100 hour power reserve is nice 👍
The high end seiko’s like the spring drive variants wipe the floor with Rolexes .. I ain’t a Rolex hater I’ve had 3 of them and they are fine watchs … but if you spend over 5k on a seiko you generally get a much better watch 👍
Christopher Ward Mk3 C60 Pro 600 has adjustable glide lock bracelet and is a great watch.
My Alternatives;
-Yema Navygraf
-Raketa Amphibia
-Glashutte Original
As a BlackBay 58 owner, I still consider the two best alternative to a Rolex Submariner are :
If you want the charm of vintage but a very modern engine under the hood, the gorgeous non M SeaMaster 300 has you covered. Rolex will not give you this METAS certification.
If you want a extremely good dive watch which is as modern and functional as the Submariner was in 1954, buy the Tudor Pelagos (the non FXD one, to get this excellent bracelet)
Both can be bought at your local AD for no more than MSRP.
Absolutely! Thank you and happy holidays 🙂
This model of Tudor is very good, but I really need a date window
How about a video on alternatives to the Rolex GMT
Really nice camera work btw
Thank you so much 😀
Glasshütte Original divers are boss.
The SeaQ in steel with blue dial is nice!
Invicta and Aragon Divers watches are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
German firm Steinhart make great looking Swiss-movement dive watches which use high quality components - so too does Edox - priced under 1000 dollars euros.
Thank you for sharing!
So does revue thommen in faithful homage
hmmm rolex, watch for those that are just focused on showing off, they have money instead of a higher tier appreciation for watches, nothing about that brand that impresses me and if given I would sell to buy a Patek ;)
I'd be impressed if you had talked about more about brands that you would not find in a jewelry store instead of a watch boutique, (seiko/omega/tudor,). Have to admit when I first spotted a Jaeger-LeCoultre I fell in love with them.
Glashutte Original SEAQ, Longines Hydroconquest, Oris Aquila Calibre 400, TAG Heuer Aquaracer
Omega professional 300! New and older Bond model! It’s a submariner killer!
Couldn't agree more
It's nice, but overpriced in my opinion. I can see the appeal though, its lovely looking
@@lukehutchins6545 Try one on, see what you think
2254.50 for life!
@@danielcanizales731 yea I'll give one a try
Great Vid! Better Value and Quality options to a sub and you are less likely to get them ripped off your wrist at knife point!
Could you please do a video of the best 5 alternative automatic watches for ladies. Thank you
We'll keep that in mind! Thanks for watching Derby 😊
No love for the longines hydro conquest?? Maaaaaan
Nice hint!
Rolex is pretty amazing. They get the sales when better watches from better brands - the JLC for example - sell for less. Even better than the Seikos mentioned are the Grand Seikos. Better looking, better finishing, more accurate, and less money.
Welcome to luxury watches. Where brand means more than anything. It is the MOST important part of the equation. By a large margin.
Thanks for sharing!
Some great options here, but the "Better" in the title is certainly subjective.
I could name 100. $14000 is about $10000 more than a Submariner should cost. Equal to a modest priced Tudor. Rolex produces about 1 million watches per year. That is 950.000 beyond exclusive. A.Lange produces 3500 watches per year. Their entry level pc. Is $17000. That is something to show your friends a fine finished movement. To the fanboys. I have owned a Submariner.. The one with a crappie stamped sheet metal clasp
Dumping that felt better than any other watch I sold. Invicta makes a good copy for $85 for those who have more sense than money. You could a Zenith or Breguet chronograph with better movements than a Daytona with that money.
That is misguided and misinformed if you ask me. Clearly not knowing value behind luxury watches.
Longines Hydroconquest Ceramic!
My 1990's Omega Seamaster 300 diver chronograph is not the panache of a Submariner, but it has features that make it difficult to criticize. You have to own one to realize what I'm talking about. In particular, you can push the chronograph buttons while under water, and it does resemble a ferrari instrument panel with those little red chrono hands.
Blancpain 50fathoms,jlc diving compresor, blancpain bathyschape, rolex sea dweler, rolex sea dweler cameron
Shame you left Certina out as the DS action diver and DS PH500M are excellent value for money
Yes but do they hold or increase their value
Seamaster Planet Ocean 2006 in black. and rubber strap. Reference 2200.50.00. prefer to the Sub
I have an skx007 and a vostok for actual diving. I have no use for a rolex and their current way of behaving makes me unlikely to alter my opinion.
what about the Superocean Heritage B20 42
Where is that sweater from?
Is Zshe-Zshe LeCoultre the same company as Yay-Ger LeCoultre?
The 5 alternatives look great to me especially as I have a BB58 and a Seamaster😁
Having said that, the Submariner is an iconic watch, no question.
The only thing that puts me off most of the Subs is the cyclops 👀
And the price.
You could opt for a sea dweller. My dad also didn’t like the cyclops on the sub and got that one (15 years ago, even got a discount🥺)
and your wearing a benrus type 1 on this video?
Blancpain needs to make more 40mm Fifty fathoms available, not always limited editions.
And it's years of making and price is also?
The Tudor Pelagosor Blancpain for my eye.
The chrono24 generation talks about wrist watches of rappers, celebrity cooks, actors, CEOs and "You Name it" 🤨... while the older generation (born 1950s & 1960s) talks about wristwatches of royalty, pilots, astronauts and explorers such as Sir Edmund Hillary, Jacques Piccard and Sir David Attenborough 🧐
Most of people understand that there's a lot of choice if they want a better time piece than Rolex submarine.
The thing is the Rolex is too famous and popular that make them don't want anything else can shows off their higher personality, of course there still have a lot of humble people those who owns some properties worth a hundred or a thousand times than a Rolex, but wearing a Tuna.😜
I can’t afford these watches. My modest collection includes:
Seiko Atlas
Seiko Baby GS
Hamilton Jazzmaster Thinline
Orient Bambino
Mido Alldial
Casio G Shock
Certina DS Podium
Tag Heuer Carrera
Happy New 2022
Happy New Year! And thanks for sharing :)
My collection is similar. I could trade them in and get an entry-level Rolex but I'd rather have several modestly priced watches than one Rolex. Nice to have variety.
Had 3 Rolexes .2x subs 1x yachtmaster .. and my seiko mm600 spring drive completely wipes the floor with them in every way 👍
that sweeping second hand ? lol
1. Attention to detail
2. Time accuracy like a quartz watch
@@tylerotaniconlon1990 yeah it’s beautiful to look at 👌.. mine runs + half a second fast over 13 weeks .. insane accuracy 🤭
@@tylerotaniconlon1990 : it is kinda a quartz watch ...quartz regulated anyway .
@@tylerotaniconlon1990 : even my regular mid price quartz give one second accuracy in a quarter million seconds .
Another great video 👏
Meh. I don't like round indices, and i don't like the case/bezel of the submariner.
Got a Planet Ocean instead.
The Tudor Pelagos LHD is also pretty cool, with a little vintage vibe thanks to the lume.
Seiko is so frustrating because I’ve given them chances over and over again to make me happy and content but the movements on these less costly watches just simply are garbage. Yes they’re durable and last forever but they are very inaccurate and they almost always are magnetized. Very very unstable. If you care about the accuracy being close then seiko sucks unless you’re going Grand.
Rolex came out with the Submariner in 54' not 53'. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 53 were the only ones in 1953!
There are plenty of watches that are as good or better than Rolex. People are just paying for the name!
i like the older ones that were before the snobs got onto them
If you want to buy a Rolex Submariner, you definitely don't want an alternative. You will not be satisfied if you are offered a Volkswagen or a Renault if you want to buy a Mercedes even if you are told that there is a Renault that has the same engine as a Mercedes.
Well done and well said. Bravo
Anyone else use C24 and get charged a random international fee for their “safe checkout” I never saw a warning that their escrow was international. I would have never used them.
I got my 16800 Sub (stardust dial, somewhat faded insert) for €4k in a time where transitional Subs were not popular. I don't look into Rolex anymore. Yes they are nice watches. But they are overhyped nowadays. It's not a watch anymore, merely a status symbol. Fake or not, it's all about showing off!
What watch are you wearing in this video?
The DOXA SUB 300 !!
Orient Kamasu Green FTW. Under 200 E looks and works great
As a surfer and sailor , sure also dive for fishing . Never used diving gear just the basic , have a Breitling Colt since 95 , 300 mt . Have it on whenever go for a short day out on my sailboat or a long trip , sometimes even surfing . Never had a single problem , suit me just fine and never care or thought having a Rolex . Now when I dress up for business or a party , dinner and so on . Have a Omega Acier De ville from 1945 bought my grandfather before shipping out with his troop from Italy . People offered me lots of money to buy the piece , enough to buy a brand new Rolex and more . I know is one of the best brand in the world , have no idea why don't like how they look and feel . The price may help , 17 k for one is way too much for me .
Not everyone can spend those amounts on watches. If really on a budget, Orient has got you covered. The Ray II is the closest to the Submariner, looks-wise. But they have various other divers well under 300€.
i got an osd300 as my everyday watch
I have the Orient Ray II and I love it.
@@stevem3797 It is a lovely watch! I especially love the angled/sloped bezel - I prefer it to the taller/more vertical bezel of its competitors. Pretty much every luxury diver has a sloped bezel, and it makes the watches wear so much better.
I have the Ray II Raven and I love it. The finish on it so cool looking, and it has a perfect bezel action.
I agree Tiago. Just got the latest Orient Ray II Komatsu with hacking, winding, sapphire crystal and good looking teal dial for less than $300.
Don't get why people buy divers w bezels that take up territory and 95% of buyers probably never use. Same with chrono subdials.
A rotating bezel is very useful as a timer. I use mine all the time when I don’t want to spend time fiddling with my phone.
best alternative for sub is Rolex Yacht master 40
