I'm surprised you didn't shake the ground on 4th of July and post it. I most certainly did. This great hard rock sounds. Nightbird & Horse whinny edition I did for the 4th. My house shook like literally a 4.0 magnitude quake. I have experienced many quakes in my life. Yesterday I could feel my hair raising from the energy coming out of the amp and literally a wind 🌬️ blowing off of it. Combine Tweed & Chorus delay reverb & a FULLBORE METAL pedal in front of it. Really push that bottom end and it will literally make things fall off shelves into the floor. After 2 weeks of severe depression. It felt so good to ring my ears with that HARD ROCK SOUND. Happy 4th Jason. Getting the Mic 🎤 not to distort is the trick when recording that 200 decibel stuff like I do is Tricky. Glad you found a Les Paul you liked. I got a Peavey tube Amp and it will also Rock. Can't beat that hard rock sound. I kept it more than metal I kept it SHAKING yesterday.

Epiphone Modern, here. I've been putzing around with guitars since I was 6 years old. Was a life-long telecaster player until... Well, like I said, the Epiphone (LP) Modern. Not only is it the most beautifully constructed guitar I've ever owned, but man, just as a piece of furniture, it would be considered stunning. As for playability? Forget-about-it. I challenge you to put the damned thing down, once you've settled in to play. Un-freaking-believable. Sure, I love vintage Gibsons. But, for all practical purposes, there aren't any left. I shit you not. This guitar is flawless.

When I was picking up guitar playing two years ago, after decades of not playing, I got myself a Epiphone Les Paul Special II (Vintage sunburst). Really great sounding guitar. Prolly not that great for playing fast metal (that's why I got myself a Jackson a couple of month ago). I put on thicker strings on it when I changed strings the first time, making it a little harder to play. But great excersise for increasing finger strength and stretch. For playing some bluesy or classic hard rock it's have that warm and deep fat sound. Really love it for that.

I have a pair of Epiphones. A mid 90s LP Studio and a much more recent Dot Deluxe 335. I love them both. With respect to the two instruments demo'd, I thought the Epi sounded a bit better clean, but got kinda muddy when you cranked the gain. I thought the custom shop sounded much better gained up. You also seemed to enjoy playing the custom shop a bit better, judging by your body language. Finish wise, I really prefer the honey burst of the custom, but both are gorgeous.

Hey Jason just tapped into this video you were telling me about. Very awesome, both guitars. The Gibson had more of a little bit of a deeper sound. The Epiphone on the other hand had more of a sweeter sound especially when you tapped into that little Blues sounding lick you were playing. Then when you started jamming out on the metal sound I was very impressed with the Epiphone I must admit. Oh and also that orange amp is killa man. Orange is my favorite color too LOL. The only downside to all of this is that you had to show me the price of that Epiphone and as you know I'm trying to downsize my guitars and now I'm kind of a little hot for that Epiphone which will definitely have me sleeping in the garage for a while if my wife sees me bring in another guitar. I thought I was your friend man LMAO. You know I'm only busting. You're still the man but seriously Gibson is top-of-the-line but my wallet was screaming Epiphone in this one because they did sound pretty similar. The difference in sound is obvious but not in a bad way, just different. I thought the 59 Gibson Custom Shop was a good choice for a comparison. I have one of these Epiphone 59 Les Pauls and it sounds phenomenal like a proper Gibson and plays great plus it is a solid built guitar with no weight relief. I love it and it ranks right up there with my Gibson Les Pauls (Standard, Classic, Traditional, Custom, and Studio Pro) In fact, maybe better! This is a great video. Thank you.
Glad to see someone compare the Gibson Custom Shop to the Epiphone. True they do sound a little different, but not so much that someone buying the Epiphone would be disappointed. And I am sure if someone compared the Gibson Custom Shop to a genuine 1959, they would also sound different.
I think people should spend their hard earned on what makes them happy. And if that is the Gibson great. But if the Epiphone is all you can afford (or all you want), you are not really getting second best. It is still a great guitar.

I just cannot figure out why these guitars are popular, it's the same with Fender to a certain extent. *Pay* authentic or don't play, Nah I'll pass and play my Ibanez, Schecter and BC Rich 7 string guitars. Yeah they are a bit pricey. And for whatever weird reason I didn't realize how badly out of tune this thing was until after the fact. Had trouble keeping it in tune prior to filming this!

@@texasbootlegger3752 dude, yes!! Our cars are 2012 and 13, paid for, and I can’t imagine ever having a car payment again! May even go down to one car when it comes time to get something else

@@jasonstallworth its probably in dyer need of an intonation job. When you have a 6500. Dollar guitar hangin in the shop, and it has a reputation of bad tuning stability…i would hope that at least its intonated and tuned before being handed to you….but that could just be me

@@Francob78 They do this, but I'm coming in before the store opens. I've heard from many that LPs have a hard time staying in tune. Don't worry, I'm not buying one...lol! Sticking to my ESPs and Ibanez (I can also see a Jackson in my future!)

Dude, I didn't notice until after the fact..for some reason I had a tough time keeping these in tune prior to shooting this. Or that could have been just me with limited time!

Played Epiohone 59 at guitar center the other day. Horrendous guitar. Unpleasant and unplayable. My advice- save up and buy Gibson R9.
Bought a R9 and never regretted it .

Yeah dude, I'm not a huge fan of those guitars but wanted to see if there was a huge difference between the two since the price is so substantial on the Gibson versus the Epiphone. Some love em, some not so much.
