Duuuuude. It’s so hard to find 2005.5 MKV TDI videos and advice. The little “push and turn” headlight switch held me up for a while. Thanks so much for putting this up! Maybe next video, you change the door locks lol
Thank you for taking the time to make this. I'm in the middle of troubleshooting my primary horn which is not working. Got to the point of needing to check the relay and was not quite sure how to access it.
If you do diagnose down to it being the clock spring make sure to tell the mechanic its likely the clock spring and let them know what you did to diagnose that issue. I wouldn't want the mechanic to bill for hours of doing other low level troubleshooting of electronics leading up to the horn.
@@griggs07 I wrote a longer reply but RUclips seemed to remove it. My issue was the clock spring in the steering wheel. Diagnose the clock spring by turning on the car, then start reputedly pressing the horn while turning the steering wheel all the way to the right then all the way to the left. Its possible the horn will honk during this process. If it does honk I would say its very likely a bad clock spring. I would recommend hiring an expert to replace it. It required messing around near the airbag (which can be very dangerous). I paid around $600 to have mine replaced about a year ago.
Volkswagen should be ashamed of themselves for burying this relay so deep in the dash. They are obviously not interested in the customers when these kind of decisions are made….

Thanks for sharing. Is there another similar relay to swap in to rule out a defective relay? Yesterday I HAD a crank, cough, NO start situation, but it's fine now like nothing happened. thanks again, - take care
Great video! Thank you! But I was hoping you could go one step further and show how to drop the relay panel? The relay I need to replace is on the left side and impossible to pull without dropping the panel.

Is the connector corroded? Could also be a broken/corroded wire. Like the insulation got nicked and the wire corroded. Was your old bulb filament broken?
@@DirtRoadAutoRepair the filament of the bulb is intact, and outwardly everything looks intact, but I don't know what to look at. Give me a hint where to look first before opening the body parts. I also pulled out all the relays in turn (except for 100) but this did not affect anything.

MrGreygoose101 well this is for a tdi, but I’d assume that since it’s built on the same platform just has a different engine it would be in the same general location. Have you check to see if all your relays are in the same location as the video?
lol I know. On a dirt road its an exercise in futility though. You have to live on one to understand. You wash it, drive home and its dirty when you pull in the driveway...
Yeah VW has them absolutely buried for some reason. I haven't ever had to dig that far to get to a simple relay. Sorry the video is so long, I tried to make it as short as possible.

Look on fuse-box.info
Does the 2008 Jetta have an actual fuel pump? How do you know what to replace. Car won't start...it tries but won't run.
Can this relay fail and not cause a code? Or at least not able to be picked up by the Autozone / OReilly scanners.

hello sir, can i know what problem if fuel relay broken? because my vw touran fuel meter not function anymore since i but that car. its cause that relay?
If your gas gauge is not working it is probably the sending unit in the gas tank. Not the relay. A faulty relay would cause a no start.
Is this the same for a non TDI VW engine?
What size is the fuel pump relay
Do you happen to know where the radiator fan relay is located?
In the relays in the motor

Yes it is diesel.
