This is really helpful as a keyboard player who is just getting into Ableton! Your whole channel is super helpful for that honestly. I've watched so many YT music production tutorials now and I've gotta say yours are top notch. They also fill a space that I feel has been lacking. I've been learning about sound design and Ableton through either electronic/dj oriented channels or hip hop focused producer's channels, just cause that is mostly what I've come across and it seems like they sorta dominate the sound design field alongside experimental musicians and film scoring. I found some great channels, but I've always wanted more sound design and Ableton specific tutorials from a keyboardist perspective tailored closer to those needs. Inspiring stuff!

Hi Brett! This is some great tutorial on how to get Chick Corea's Rhodes sound in Light As A Feather. Nowadays I actually prefer the Mark V sound, also because of Chick Corea, but nobody can hate that sound you're creating here as well because it's really a classic. Chick Corea was the first jazz musician that caught my attention (via his Elektric Band), not only that it got me into playing jazz, but to actually seriously consider music as a career choice. Thank you for the nostalgia.

Thanks Calvin. That sound brings me right back, happy to hear it does the same for you. Before I really understood what jazz even was, that sound got right under my skin. Thanks for indulging the nostalgia. This was a fun one. PS - it’s always nice to see your comments pop up. Your presence has been a staple of LK for a long time. Happy you’re around.

@@LiveKeyboardist aw thank you! I mean I haven’t been around for a while haha 😅
If I may be a bit picky, I don’t know if that Rhodes patch you used as your base is the sampler version or the AAS EP, but the damper release time sounds too quick to be natural. Add a bit more to that and it should be spot on.
Btw I don’t use Ableton but I also use the AAS Lounge Lizard EP-4 to recreate a more Mark V sound.

Hi, do you prefer the Arturia Keylab MKII or thé Novation SL MKIII? Thank you so much.

Depends what you are looking for. The novation SL is a better controller. Has more ability. The Arturia has a better touch feel. I generally trend towards the better touch feel, but I also use push two for easy control, And for live performance custom mappings. So I have most of my bases covered. If you are looking to set up a live KB rig, it might be worth booking a 30 minute coaching slot with me. We could come up with the best set of gear for your needs.
At the end of the day. It’s your preference combined with your needs.

@@LiveKeyboardist thanks! I am not looking for a live kb but for a studio kb. I am guitariste and i will learn To play piano with a teacher. I Would fine the best for kontrol the Max of plugin instruments like NI, EWQL, ROLAND cloud, and all my instruments from Logic ProX. I thought about the NI KK S88 MKII but this Noe in no more delivery, i see now... So, I think it is not a good idea for the warranty...

For a studio KB the novation SL mkiii won’t steer you wrong. If that was my primary use case, that’s the keyboard I would buy without any second guessing.
