This is a complete beginner video on this stuff, so keep in mind i've never used Retopology and have no clue what i'm doing. Let's GO!

I can't wait to test making a full model with this! Sculpting in Nomad, Retopo with cozyblanket, Texturing with procreate, rigging in blender

@@drugfreedave yeah because you didn't do real retopology before. Thats 10x worse. Try to retopology in Blender without any retopology addons, thats just pure hell
@@tiltedelf6105 sounds rough.. I guess it's OK since no plans to animate and never used blender before... Maybe someday I'll understand/have a reason to! 👍🏾

Haha yeah I had to tap out of that one… maybe after I gain a bit more understand of what the heck all of that is and how it’ll be useful to me I’ll dive in again! I really don’t understand how a computer couldn’t do that way more precisely than drawing them on…
@@drugfreedave Apparently in Zbrush you can do it automatically … it’s like magic. I watched a video of someone just clicking two things and boom it was done and it looked really good.

Ok befoure you start to look how it work you need to find why you use it.
-Why we retopologize a mesh?
To get that mesh lower polygon count (genious i know).
-Why you want one mesh that took you one eternety to sculpt all pore details, and skin cracks to get low poly count and look like playstation 1?
There are multyple awansers to this. You want lower poly mesh to get easyer to Animate. Hight poly makes animation becouse you want to do edges on the mesh in the part that the model deform/bend when you animate.
You want low poly to get your model into games. Hight poly count means a need to a better machine to compute. That means all models need to look like playstation 1? No. Generaly you get the low poly count and aply the hight poly count into the lower one with textures that simulate the hight details, making everything more easy to run.
Is retopologyze needed for 3d printing? No
So if i just use Nomad for 3d printing do i need this program? Maybe.
Retopologyze manualy means that you put the detail you need in the parts you need. With that you can get even hight detail models befour your system starting to slow down and crash.
Retopologyze a mesh helps to create better smoth models to, thats becouse on hight poly count theres time it get "bumpy".
This is just some general use.
I indeed thought the program would be something like 50$, this is a bit pricey for my needs. That sayd, retopologyze a model is for something , i may say majority, a boring process, but for some it is relaxacion exercise. This program looks to help making it a bit more fun , so it may be worth the money for some one that dont like to retopo and/or want to do it on the go on his ipad.

Since you are new to CG I'll tell you that doing retopo is one of the most boring part in modeling creation pipeline, no body want's to do that, I don't see how making it on ipad, with very basic tools can be fun. Also it's just a technicality needed when your asset purpose is to be animated in VFX or games, otherwise is just a waste of time.
If your model is a static mesh for a production, autoretopo, or even decimation would be totally fine.
I really can't see the fun in it at all.. I definitely have to agree with you!!

Enjoyed watching this. I downloaded it this morning and had a play. I literally did exactly what you did, and thought the same things! I also have no idea how topology is supposed to work. I sat there for a while putting squares on the snail.. thinking , huh.. how do I do the eyes.
Yeah I'm thinking the same thing since I have different parts of the model. I'm so lost!
I think it gets interesting when you are able to reproject your details onto the new low poly mesh…

Kinda funny to see person who doesn´t fully grasp purpose of retopology just jump right in 😄. But if you just want to make your nomad sculpts lower topology. Use decimation in nomads topology tab. It’s basically built to optimize your meshes. Retopology is mainly used to make well deformable mesh for finished character sculpts. If your not gonna animate it you won’t really need it. Cheers!
Ahh yeah that's what I've learned!! Maybe some day I'll be able to really take advantage of it.. For now I'm happy just in Nomad! Not even sure what I'd have to buy in order to use something like blender... We'll see! 🤗
Trust me when I say, that Cozy Blanket makes Retopology way more frustrating, then it needs to be.
Retopology is to 3D what Inking your drawing is to 2D. In other words, your sculpt becomes the sketch and you remodel everything on top of it. Cozy Blankets unreliable gestures make it even more painful, then it already is.
I've spend hundreds of hours doing retopolgy in Blender but Cozy Blanket infuriates me to no end.
Imagine having to to place every vertex twice just because App misinterpreted the Gesture you made.
For free or for 2 to 3 Bucks shure, but that little functionality, that does not even work as promised half the time for almost 100 bucks!?
There is no other App on the iPad that can do Retopology, so they rushed this novelty toy to the market and now they capitalize hard on that.
Lets hope that this example will not lead to other devs inflateing there prices.

i think how u did it should work out? have u found out what they used for yet? they are used for baking the high poly model to it... so u can animate it...

I know this is random but how can one split up an obj file in nomad into 4 equal parts like a face to then use in c4d to make something inside of the face when the pieces break apart in c4d?
