My upgrade path was Hero4, Hero5, Hero11. Hero11 was a great update but my needs make me look more at DJI Action bigger sensors. Let's see if the Action 5 delivers on the sensor quality, this may be enough for an upgrade.
I had lots of gopro until I got fed up with the 12. Sent it back and bought the Action 4 instead. Night and Day difference in Lightness, Compact, and Usefulness! Not to mention the overheating problem with the Gopro, in DJi i never had one even in summer. Mic adapter? Just get a usb mic or connect it directly to your helmet via bluetooth. GoPro what do you think we want?

Can’t agree more! I have a GoPro 9 with a crackling sound issue, looking at the internet I’m not alone with this, problem. They replaced the camera with a brand new one, same problem. The issue was never solved and I couldn’t get my money back because at the end I had a replacement camera. Great service! For me GoPro is going downhill very fast now, with Sonos in it’s back.
Was over on reddit discussing the way GoPro makes accessories obsolete with each camera release. The lenses especially. Could you imaging if Sony or Canon changed their lens mounts each year? I know the Hero lenses are very cheap compared to a mirrorless lens but why making a minor change that makes previous accessories incompatible? I would love to buy the updated Max Lens for my Hero 11 instead of purchasing yet another camera body that I don't need. I have 2 10's and an 11 that are just fine.
Okay we all where waiting more from the H13, but lets straighten some things out. They rewrote the whole code base of the camera, so now the freezing/losing footage should not happen anymore. People where complaining about overheating in indoors when they filmed something for hour or two so they installed the heatsink on the hero 13, early youtuber tests where promising that it lasts way longer now to overheat if it even does. Then the price of the lenses, the ND lens sets have always been very costly and you need to know what you are doing when using them, at least here the price is about the same and it automatically tells you if you have the right ND installed for the light of the scene. The wide lens of h11 and h12 cost 99€ too so nothing new in that, is it expensive, yeah it is. Though if you want wide pov without buying an 360 cam like X2-4 the wide lens is better quality, you just cant reframe it in post though. Was the H13 lackluster all in all, yeah it was. The sensor needs a change, touch screen on front too plz, better app needed, quick charging (new battery is faster than the old, but not enough). At least battery should last longer, no freezing and the HDR actually seems to be working. I had a lot of issues with H12 HDR. For non-action and non-rainy days I use pocket 3, for action H12 and X2 for impossible angles. That goddam X4 needs a price decrease. Action 5 pro is rumoured to be shown soon too.
Also to add to this the charging cable is not 100$, the cable and the door is. This is the only thing where the price imo is ridiculous, usually battery doors + cable are 20-30€. It seems to be 72€ for europe, jesus christ. I leave my gopro outside to film aurora and sometimes if there has been rain or snow I have to pray that it did not get any water in the camera. But 72€ is just 20-30€ too much. On the mic Hero 13 can be connected to wireless microphones, for example DJI MIC 2, just for some reason the quality is awful.
When the first gopros went out, pple were happy with what they had, and most of users were actually using them. Now, it's just a bunch of technology consumers who are looking for owning the best camera and not doing anything with it. You don't like the new gopro, dji, insta360 device? Use the one you have and shut your mouth....
I agree 100% !!! GOPRO does not have the money for R&D and they just give us minor upgrades....I will wait until GOPRO 15...if they are still around...I see bankruptcy in their future !!!
Had overheating only one time. It was my bad, left the camera filming indoor with hypersmooth turned on, because I forgot, to choose my indor setup. Thats all, and my heros 5, 8, or 9, have never let me down.
@@ziyansanmgr2509 It's all the same yes. Seems big companies like Gopro, DJI, Insta360 don't care about customers anymore for quite some time. The Action 3 was a total mess with its focus problem. And instead of doing a re-call, they just sat the race out until the release of the Action 4. The Action 4 is actually an Action 3 with a fixed focus and a slightly bigger image sensor. And Insta360 could have destroyed the actioncam market with their new X4. By putting a very decent single lens mode into it on high resolution and making it more durable as the Action and the Hero. Instead of that they came out with a slightly upgraded X3 with removable lens covers, which should have been on the X3 already. And even those lenscovers aren't exactly watertight. So water may still enter between lens and cover, affecting image quality... Higly paid engineers whhich can't think about something simple as a rubber gasket 😅 All those companies are a big joke...
Bullshit... I'm a Gopro owner myself. But images on other camera's aren't that bad either. And the images of the gopro aren't always that great. It's often just a matter of preference. Myself I like the more vibrant colorscheme of the Gopro a bit more. But in a lot of occasions I need to colorgrade in post because the gopro footage also sometimes tends to come out dull and dark. Sometimes the dynamic range is actually a bit bad. And the stills are realy terrible on the Gopro, so I just stopped making pictures with it (yeah I know, it's an action cam...). I actually don't see anny reason anymore to stay at gopro, now they've changed the battery pin layout. While all my batteries and chargers have become obsolete now. So it's an easy step to go out and try another brand if I would need a replacement now. Like I already said, other camera's aren't actually that bad, and Gopro isn't that super great. But that overheating was a verry big issue on the 10 and the 11, even on lower resolutions as 1080p and 2.7K. And on the Hero 12 they just had decreased overheating by decreasing bitrates drastically (especially on 1080p and 4K) and thus decreasing processing on the hardware, which decreases heat generation... You understand what it means to image quality when you decrease bitrates too much? The problem is just the airtight case that gives the camera it's IP rating. Because of that generated heat is trapped inside the camera and it was already verry clear at the 10 already, that only the rear screen and the lens could not disperse the generated heat sufficiently enough. But instead of changing the layout of the enclosure, it took them like 4 years with the same enclosure to find out that they actually needed a extra/bigger heatsink for heat dispersion... Gopro have just counted their final days...
Agree. 👍 100% small improvements every year, and sell many accessories around the same technology. most of the time not compatible between different models. they basically release the same shit every year with different numbers. increasingly expensive. a complete disrespect towards fans and consumers.
Totally agree and let me add one extra opinion: let’s assume someone would be willing to spend 100$ (!) for the ND filters… why did they make them starting from ND4! Why they sell a bundle with ND4, 8, 16 32 instead of a more useful 8, 16, 64 and 128. This camera is intended to be used in bright condition. Or, if they wanted to add the ND4, for 100$ they could give a bundle with at least 5-6 filters.
The filters 'only' cost $79.99 or $63.99 with a subscription, but I agree with you about the filter strengths - I can't really understand the choice either. But I can well imagine that third-party labels will provide a solution here. For me, the focusable macro lens is the big highlight of the camera. If there came also a good quality 2x telephoto lens (possibly also focusable), then that would be an innovation that I have been waiting for a long time. But let's see what the Action 5 Pro has to offer. Especially the sensor, which seems to have 40 MP pixels. I hope it's a 16:9 sensor with pixel binning for good low-light capability and the option of a 4K crop for a lossless 2x zoom. I would have liked a sensor like this for the Pocket 3, which I am otherwise very happy with.
@@MotoTrotter The $100 referred to the Ultra Wide lens - by the way, the ND filter set only costs $69.99 ($55.99 for subscribers). The prices I mentioned above were in euros - sorry for the mistake.

Honestly disappointing. I’ve been using the GoPro 9 and every year I’m excited and hopeful that they would have some significant improvements. The extra accessories are cool but still not enough for me to upgrade. I personally want to see low light improvement.
The Ace Pro is an interesting camera, but what I don't like are the many AI functions that can improve the image, some of which cannot be deactivated. I think that's a shame, because other manufacturers are increasingly leaving it up to the user to decide to what level the image should be optimized in the camera - a very welcome development for me.

The 13 HAD to blow the competition away. 1 inch or better sensor, awesome low light, an app that works great, no shutdowns.... What I'm seeing is a 12 that should have added lenses. 😢
Woooowww... who can take you serious with this GoPro roast ?! Being really serious, which you aren't, GoPro might not be overall better than some of its recent competition but it certainly isn't worse. With the Hero 13 they're right about more or less on pair. If they should rise above the competition with the launch of the new Hero 13, yes, I think they should have innovated a bit more. Nonetheless, better in some areas worse in others, they're certainly not behind their competitors.
who the fuck wants to piss around changing lenses etc if your mountain biking , dirt biking , skydiving … whatever , covered in mud no one wants to muck around with that crap , just make the best camera that you turn on & it just works really well
You can buy the camera as a set with the macro lens and then use it as the standard lens. Thanks to the ability to shift the focus, you can easily take close-ups or shots with a little background blur - you can even activate focus peaking for control purposes. How well this function can be used on the camera screen remains to be seen, of course. But I think it works much better in the app and, with a little practice, you'll quickly know how great the depth of field is at different settings. For me, this lens is a key feature of the camera if the quality is right.
"mediocre average cameras"? Why do professional filmmaking fpv pilots exclusively use gopro's then? It has best in class image quality. The dji one may be cheaper and have better useability but you can't be mediocre and average when you're the market leader.
I agree 100 %. The Chinese will win in the end. Sad to see GP not giving them a real fight. And GoPro 14? Same specs with some more new physical mods ?
The Dji pocket 3 and Dji action 5 pro is the last nail in the coffin. We own 3 Gopros, the only one I've been happy with was the 12. We make travel adventuresyoutube content. We use a 5k$ sony fx3 dji pocket 3 and now I just ordered another action cam the dji action 5 pro. We or moving away from gopro. They are (very unreliability) and the footage is bad compared to image quality and low light performance compared to the dji action 5. I will say the 12 is the best model. The 13 is a joke still no low light improvement and still no improvement on sensor size and image quality. The death of gopro is here. And to all the gopro diehard fans who don't believe this just look at its Stock share price. Its falling like a rock.
Keep that go pro in the coffin 😂 what the hell is wrong with go pro.... it's social media era! What content creator need are pocketable 4k good quality video, good in low light, pause on recording and continue previous recording, short distance focus without changing lens and pocketable... just imagine changing lens in harsh condition weather 😂
"pocketable 4k good quality video" = There is not much difference between the action cameras of the major manufacturers "good in low light" = The Hero 13 Black is indeed not the best choice here "short distance focus without changing lens" = The Hero 13 Black with the Macro Lens Mod beats every competitor product by far, as you can use it to replace the standard lens and then adjust the focus continuously - you even have a focus peaking option. "pause on recording and continue previous recording" = For me, this is a nice gimmick that saves you a few seconds to merge the clips in the app before uploading. However, the function only makes sense if you record the clips one after the other, as otherwise you have to search for the clip to which you want to attach the new recording each time - this takes time and you may miss the moment. However, I find it annoying that you still can't connect a wireless receiver directly to the USB socket. And I also find it a disappointment that the magnetic battery compartment door with matching USB cable is not included as standard, but is extremely expensive - even the 4 different connection cables that are included are no compensation.
Just another GoPro hater channel. I got my GoPro 13 for $299. A lot cheaper than the other brands. None of the other companies will give you a discount. All the brands have their overpriced accessories. Insta360 charges $80 for a simple card reader. Both the other cameras require you to buy an extra overpriced remote to have GPS capabilities. GoPro did remove it in the 12 but now it's back in the 13.

If they should rise above the competition with the launch of the new Hero 13, yes, I think they should have innovated a bit more. Nonetheless, better in some areas worse in others, they're certainly not behind their competitors.
who the fuck wants to piss around changing lenses etc if your mountain biking , dirt biking , skydiving … whatever , covered in mud
no one wants to muck around with that crap , just make the best camera that you turn on & it just works really well
We'll se what DJI is gonna offer soon
I still waiting Insta360 Ace Pro 2
Had first Insta360 Ave Pro and returned it, because it was a disaster.
Insta 360 makes toys
Laughable
@@richardvillanueva559 true
0.5" sensor lmao
DJI and Insta360 are now at the top
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
For someone like me, who never uses filters nor changes lens, a truly underwhelming release...
Amen
I am totally agree with you.
"mediocre average cameras"? Why do professional filmmaking fpv pilots exclusively use gopro's then? It has best in class image quality. The dji one may be cheaper and have better useability but you can't be mediocre and average when you're the market leader.
Go pro has been bossing it since day 1; the haters are coping hard this year.
"pocketable 4k good quality video" = There is not much difference between the action cameras of the major manufacturers
"good in low light" = The Hero 13 Black is indeed not the best choice here
"short distance focus without changing lens" = The Hero 13 Black with the Macro Lens Mod beats every competitor product by far, as you can use it to replace the standard lens and then adjust the focus continuously - you even have a focus peaking option.
Who is gonna do that…
Can say same of full frame (well except my a1 with its awesome shutter guard).. anyways … they are cheap, buy 4
Insane price tags guys….
Says 23 year old who doesn’t have 120 hours at a real job!
Yo bro.. real cameramen drop 700 bones on used lenses they just feel like fudging with…
Then drop another 2500 on lenses they will really use?
Then pro shot costs 20-70,000 bones…
Here you are crying over 70 buck lenses (5 hours at McDonald’s, don’t die now)
Chump stuff! 3 pump much?
2025… anamorphic lens will curb stomp your video.
Go Pro Hero 10 is my last Hero. Never Buy again Go pro product
wow... macro lens... in a fu**ing sports camera... what crap.... 400fps 720p... wow....
We took GPS first...
we gave the GPS back WOW!!!
these changes are amazing, they don't change anything just to change the camera number on the housing
the ship called GoPro is sinking... how can you kill your own company because of greed? Who buys an action camera every year? probably only RUclipsrs to do reviews and hype... and wait, they get them for free!
My last GoPpr was 10... I won't buy another one...
I hope the company goes bankrupt, it deserves it because it doesn't develop anything, it just gives it more expensive every year,I will never buy GoPro. DJI just much better
My hero 13 is amazing so not sure why so many videos that seem to hate on go pro 😂 … this seems like a smear campaign from competitors 🤷🏽♂️
gopro have much better video quality. dont sell ass to chinese
You’re smarter than him
Gopro is shit
