- How To Plant Jerusalem Artichoke And Get A Massive Harvest, Planting Jerusalem Artichoke, How To Plant Sunchokes
2024 was my second year of growing Jerusalem Artichoke and I really upped my growing to the next level.
From planting 10 tubers I managed to harvest a massive 30kg of crops !!
So for 2025 I have created a bigger planter and I have decided to plant a few more tubers.
Yes that’s right, this year I am planting 18 tubers so let’s see how big a crop I can get.
As always it’s all about the planting preparation, and with Jerusalem Artichoke that means incorporating plenty of organic matter, manure and even more manure.
So let’s see what can be achieved with this easy to grow vegetable.

Jerusalem artichokes have a useful dual purpose: they can feed you and then you can harness the resulting waste gas that will ensue, to use as fuel. 💨💨💨💨💨.
It’s not a joke, I managed to grub up all my tubers from the garden, as it is impossible to eat without being inflated with noxious and malevolent gas…..

🤣🤣 many thanks for watching and your great message.
I’ll be sure not to sit close to you after you have eaten a few of the artichokes.
All the best with your growing this year 🪴🌼
How do you cook them so they don’t get you painfully bloated? Our friends make soup with them but they call it “ musical soup”😅

Hi. Many thanks for watching and the message.
This is my second year of growing them so we haven’t tried cooking them too many ways.
So far we have just had them roasted and mixed into mash.
I read that if the tubers are harvested later in the year after a few hard frosts, and a cold period, then the tuber enzymes change to make the effects less potent 🤣🤣
Hope you give them a go 🪴🌼
Do the tubers survive a hard freeze above soil? I received a gift shipment but they were frozen solid in the mailbox due to extreme cold outdoor temps

Hi. Many thanks for watching and for the message.
In the ground the tubers are perfectly happy with a hard frost or with frozen ground.
However, as I found out last year, once they are lifted they become quite susceptible to the colder temperatures and they don’t keep well.
If the tubers have visible eyes, buds, then they should look plump still. Plant the tubers as soon as you can.
Are you U.K. based ?
All the best with your growing 🪴🌸🌼
