1 metric week to 1 imperial week that cracked me up
I often need to translate these things for my american viewers.
@@OakandSpore yes, it would be helpful and I am rather embarrassed to admit that I am 60 years old and did not know the difference between one metric week and one imperial week. For my American colleagues, a metric week is 10 days. I wouldn't wanna work that week! LOL
The more you know....
@@bloodtrail2351 The reason you have never heard of a metric week is because there is no such thing as a metric week. The metric system doesn't recognize week as a unit of time (Look up International System of Units), and no country or people use 10 days as a week. The only basis for a 10 day week were some french revolutionaries that wanted to make everything decimal. 1 week = 7 days, and the conversion seen in the video was most likely a joke :)
For real that was hilarious
i couldn't stop laughing when he started whispering as if not to disturb the mycelium
The mycelium needs its sleep..
Haven’t you seen those studies where people talked or yelled or ignored plants (watered and fed, but didn’t talk to them)? Pretty amazing study. The ones that were yelled at or ignored did poorly.
I’m not lying when I say ever guy who grows mushrooms did it cause a little mushroom on a spiritual journey told them to do it one day
Yep and I'm one of them lol
It told to give them for free too.

I don't get it, none of these species of mushroom are illegal. The ones that are typically are grown by a different process, so watching this wouldn't help. Really spectacular oyster mushroom grow this guy has got though! Huge fruits!

Hi NuGs I realize this reply is a year old but better late than never! What area of the country do you want to grow mushrooms in? I live in WA and have been thinking about this for quite some time also. Would love to get together with you to hear about your experience so far.
How much dollar in 1 kg dry oyster mushroom now please
I'm here in the states, and I found that I have an extreme interest in mycelium, and mushrooms. So with the support of my fiance, I'm gonna be transforming my shed and garage into a small scale mushroom operation.
You're information has been great man, and extremely helpful with helping me understand where to begin. So I appreciate you taking the time to make all these videos. It's really been invaluable.
No worries dude, good luck with your grow operation!

Fantastic video! Thanks for going into so much detail, Just out of curiousity, those bags you were harvesting from, do you get many more flushes from them and also do you need to cut a new hole or will they just continuously come from the single hole you made?
Thanks
Thank you for being generous and confident enough to teach the world about this process. I just want to grow at home, for consumption. Hopefully it works!

Such an inspiration to all mushroom growers! Not only are these videos hilarious , they are full of knowledge for an aspiring mushroom farmer...
Could you go over the details of what the fruiting chamber environment should be (for example.. Which spectrum of light you use and how to know what the humidity, temp and co2 levels are)
Thanks in advanced , Mush love brother!
Thanks for the support. Light is 6500k, co2 below 800, humidity changes depending on stage of fruiting ideally. temps also change with the weather..
@OakandSpore how many harvests can you get from each bag ? Or do you have to throw it away after each harvest?
Thanks for this video, love your garage shroom production
Awesome to see a video showing most of the process. Thank you very much.

Wow, awesome thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.

I love all of the mushrooms!🥰👍
This was lovely, thank you for sharing your process. Do you guys have a REKO ring locally? It’s where farmers pre-sell their produce through a private social media group (run by volunteers, usually started by a farmer), and then do a fast drop off at a central location; instead of a whole market day. You don’t end up with anything left at the end of the day (or hour) because you’re only dropping off orders rather than spending time trying to sell. Anyhoo ~ good luck, and thank you for making this!
That sounds very interesting! I have never heard of a REKO ring, but just read up about it. We dont' have them in NZ, we just have the more traditional farmers market.
Been putting some serious thought and research into starting a mushroom operation and very glad I found your excellent channel. By the way, the Intro with the clip from 300 was freakin' hilarious, as well as checking your non-existent watch for the time, I really enjoy the humorous aspects you add in here.
Go for it! And thanks for the support:D
Did you ever succeed? And how much does it make a month?
Great straight to the point educational video 👌🏽 thank you
one of the most interesting vids i've seen for ages! 👏 I wondered if the racked bags keep producing after you first harvest from them or are they done?
I would like to know this as well, but my guess is no. Probably because the mycelium has no more food inside the bag to produce fruiting bodies.
Bro the "THIS IS mushroom" had me dying 😂😂😂
Haha glad I got a laugh out of you!
One of the best videos ever for mushroom knowledge and inspiration for growing myself
Man you are AWESOME!!! I really like the way how you showed it up!!!! Thanks

Nice I am looking forward of buy lots of land and start a Huge farm. this video helped a lot since I have other means of income via forex market, real estate, I
would need something to keep me busy since I just retire
Hey Tom...Newbie grower here...you have quickly become my favorite Mushroom grower on You tube....I learn something new and have a good laugh on every vid you do. Question. Why the slanted shelves? what advantage does it have other than looking super cool?
A few reason, one is dirty water doesn't drip from the top down into the mushroom bodies below. But one of the main reasons is we have a lot of earthquakes, slanted shelves means I don't need as much bracing holding them up if the ground shakes.
Unexpected find. Good setup. More involved than I was expecting. Now I appreciate the farmers more. Think I’ll start with growing potatoes or onions.
Everyone needs potatoes and onions!
Thankyou for sharing this informative, open and honest information, all the best to you!

Welcome aboard!
Dear Sir, amazing video. Very informative and interesting. I am not a specialist but would it not be possible for You to double your harvest by adjusting your shelves to horizontal position and cutting a hole on the backside as well?
The moshrooms roots grow inside and if you have 2 sides this just means that they fight over the space and in the end die faster, because the corners wouldnt get reached and the "main part" has been taken from the other side as well (this means less nutrients to grow and in the end.... it doesnt help).
Thank you for taking us along the process. Also appreciate your sense of humor 🍄
I hope some people do :D
Thank you for the conversion of metric and imperial weeks.
Well explained - Thank you!
thanks for your videos, very exciting work. I would like to know more about your flow controller setup you use to add water in the bag. Is it possible to show it/describe it more somehow ? I want to copy your setup. By the way, twisting the mushroom cluster when harvesting should make it easier than only pulling. I love the logs on your selling table, we do that too ;)
I can, it's a water flow controller from Amazon. Usually I do not harvest in the room like that, but I take each bag out to my stainless steel benches. I just harvested them from the wall for the purposes of the video.
Nice succinct overview and love your fruiting chamber, well-sized.
Why do you angle your shelves?
I have a video on my shelving build where I discuss the design and reasons.
Thank you for the excellent high level overview!
Very informative! Thank you for sharing 🍄💕
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video! 2 questions... Can you get a second or third crop from a single mycelium block? And what do you do with the blocks when they are no longer useful?
Apparently u can get 2-4(2-3 is reasonable while 4 is pushing it) flushes from a single block.
@@simonbionary11010 true and he would likely only do 2flushes or time vs productivity outweighs the cost

Kia ora! Always glad to see a fellow kiwi on youtube. I've avoided using softwood because of the fungicides that are often in pine, have you had problems with this before? So far I've used macrocarpa sawdust from a local mill and that works like a treat
Kia ora fellow kiwi! I've never had a problem, and I have been told the brand of wood pellets I use are organic. I'm not sure they really soray pine with too many fungicides as its naturally fairly fungal resistant. I've had no problems none the less :)
I really loved that you showed us the selling part! I just wonder something: when you open your bags for the mushrooms to finally grow, couldn't you open all the sides rather than just one front side? So as the mycellium all around could grow? Or are they all migrating to the one front opening?
I thought the same too
Better quality of flushes with one open section.
i thot the same. and the reason I was told was that the bag would dry out. but then you could also inject the bag with water and let the whole thing fruit. so many videos with pinning under the plastic and low fruiting. seems really odd. but then everyone is doing it so I really dunno what to say. But i did see one place in the Uk on video and they strip the plastic all the way off and have only the substrate sitting on shelves fruiting. they have like a full facility with airlocks and so on to prevent contamination and so on. but the lady said we take the plastic off and are able to get good results. So...... kinda confusing
@@ArunRaoINDIA I guess you can strip the bags off and do multiple openings when you have a humidifier setup then (most of the pro have)

Thank you.
SHOW ME HOW TO BUILD THE DRUM!!! Please and thank you;)
I have another video of it.
you are brilliant! It seems difficult to do this at home without all the control measures. I'm a complete beginner but this was fun to watch
Not really, you can grow mushrooms with really low tech methods. Using equipment like me just means the entire growing operation is more controllable.
Actually, you could start growing at home with maybe $50-100 invested into some jars, tubs and substrate. Fancy and expensive gear like flow hoods, PID controllers, large sterilizing barrels and ventilation/humidification systems only come into play if you're doing bulk commercial production, and even then it's more for convenience and saving time rather than a necessity.
Entertaining video and I enjoyed the music 😄 thank you for the thorough walk through!
