RIP Meat Loaf. He sang the anthem like it is supposed to be sung, with reverence, respect and passion. And, he sung it well.
Italian opera singer Enrico Palazzo himself couldn't have sung it any better.
a legend😔
From the right side of the pond Fantastic rendition of your National Anthem. RIP big man you deserve the rest and the end of your pain.
AMEN 🇺🇲
Well sung and said.
Wow it's nice to hear someone absolutely crush the anthem without over-embellishing it and ruining all sense of the melody. What a damn legend.
@@artscafe9371 "hypocritical" How so? 10 to 1 you cannot articulate a coherent reason.
@@petehenry7878 You mean only one in ten can only give a coherent reason... Also some homework for you read up on the missing lines of the United States national anthem compared to the one of today. You must be either a really bored troll trying to bait or a zealot with no sense.
@@Salah-fq2wi Where are you from? I know you're not American if you don't understand what "10 to1" means.
Little help for you. 10 to 1 means to bet $10 to $1.
As far as a bored troll with no sense, you must be talking about yourself. After all, my comment was not directed at you. And you sure didn't try to give me a reason how the anthem is hypocritical.
I know there are more verses than what normally get sang, but I really don't know what homework I need to do.
@@petehenry7878 Apparently a non American who knows more about your history than you do. Read on the missing verses than come back to the conversation. Speak with knowledge or not at all.
@@Salah-fq2wi WTF are you talking about. Come back when you can speak to the subject instead just jumping into the conversation and accuse me of not knowing my history.
If you're in agreement with Arts Cafe that the anthem is somehow "hypocritical", please elaborate. Otherwise fuck off.
Man can sing. I'm not even American and this had me , hand over heart, wanting to salute a flag that's not even mine 😂
That flag belongs to anyone who loves freedom!
Being an American is not found in the bloodstream, or living within the borders of our great country. It's a choice one makes.
And that's what makes our country so unique. Anyone can be an American!
@@brokenwing0899 maybe that's why your anthem hits me so hard. Like goosebumps up my spine, tears in my eyes kinda stuff. Freedom is EVERYTHING 🇳🇿
I’d love to hear Elvis do it.
Love Meatloaf.
But... It just occurred to me...
The person I REALLY want to hear sing the Anthem is....
David Draimen of Disturbed
@@mumsie8578
I am an American, and I never not cry when the Anthem is done properly. (I know that the grammar is incorrect, but it still true. 😇)
When The Star Spangled Banner is sung right, it will give you chills that you feel deep in your bones. Meatloaf gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. I love when the anthem is sang in the right way without all the frivolous additions. RIP Meatloaf.
His voice was considered of operatic quality. In the early '70s he was offered $60k a year to train as an operatic tenor. His voice was classified as a heroic tenor. These parts are often sung by baritones because few tenors have the low end power to pull them off. At 70 he still had the same range of over 3 octaves and sang all of his songs in the original key. While his power has slightly diminished it was still well above average.
and that was *after* recovering from a throat injury. I first thought is was throat cancer, later read that it was cysts. on his vocal cords. an inspiring "overcoming adversity" story.
Such a brilliant voice and range
Three octaves is about normal for a decent singer.
We now have Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust, both basses who have 5 octave ranges and leaving the U.S. Avi even has that additional Polyphonic/Overtone singing ability which adds a whistle voice to his already 5 octave range.
Dimash Qudaibergen of Kazakhstan has a 7 octave 2 note range.
These do not make me like Meatloaf any less though.
He's also dead.
@@pamscarr8696 retired Opera singer here: It's actually a full two octaves that is necessary to become a professional Opera singer. Those two octaves must be sung over an orchestra and chorus and into a theatre unaided (no mic). Most singers can't do that without tricks and yes, even the basses must be able to do the same. As a bass-baritone I had to perform the Low F below the staff on the bass clef. A lot of basses have problem actually getting below the staff while some baritones are able to. It's about the quality of singing not the number of octaves. The star spangled banner only requires an octave and a fifth to sing as written which is what was performed by Meatloaf and quite well I might add. He is definitely a tenor but, he doesn't sound like a Heldentenor to me - more like a full lyric Tenor. One of my vocal coaches was a Heldentenor that sang at the Deutsche Opera in Berlin. A Heldentenor has a monumental voice with immense power and stamina. Even dramatic tenors have huge voices. I suggest watching Mario Del Monaco here on youtube. Best way to hear a great singer is nothing but a piano in a large hall and a true bass envelopes the theatre in a warm, velvety dark sound similar to a Cello.
When asked about this performance, he had only one thing to say..."It's our national anthem""
Meatloaf had an operatic quality to his voice and singing that put him in the same class as Freddie Mercury, Elvis and Roy Orbison, in my opinion. Just amazing. Rip, Meatloaf.
Oh wow... I just mentioned Roy Orbison in my comment...lol
He sounds so much like Mr. Orbison!!!
I was thinking exactly the same- Freddie Mercury. can you imagine a duet of those two? Perhaps we will hear it ourselves, some day!❤🙏💔
Just saw your comment .. totally agree 😊
I'm not even an American.. I got goosebumps and could have cried. He sang it so beautifully and full of passion.
Rip Meat
Mr. Loaf.... lol.
Exactly what I wanted to say.
What's lost in this performance is his deliberate timing to allow the reverberations to die down so it wasn't a massive jumble of sound. He understood the terrible acoustics of Three Rivers Stadium and sang at the tempo to let the echo die down.
Yeah I noticed that, I’d love to see him sing it with all the power he has in a better venue
very good observation. I noticed too but did not understand why his was so good. It is best sung slowly and with emotion.
I'm not American but this version of your national anthem gave me goosebumps. What a voice and a talent. RIP Meat Loaf xx
Our Anthem is both the most beautiful song every written, and the most horrendous. If you sing it as written it's a stunning piece of music that is incredibly inspiring. If you change keys multiple times, drag out certain notes and words, and try to make it your own it becomes absolute garbage and impossible to enjoy.
Meat sang it perfectly at a time when everyone wondered how he was going to make it his own. Well he did but doing it absolutely perfectly and crushing the high notes most men struggle to hit. By taking no liberties, he gave on of the most memorable performances ever.
@@riffbw Agreed. All you need to make a song your own style is your own unique voice.
Thank you Pauline.
Another one to knock your socks off is Whitney Houston when she did it. Holy shit, she killed it.
The only artist to do it better is Whitney Houston, who absolutely, entirely, and completely killed Star Spangled Banner and left the greatest performance in history behind her.
Meatloaf was a true showman. I was told by a friend of mine in the music industry, that before a show he would walk the entire venue and listen to the acoustics, and work with the soundman to tune things just right, as well as adjust his own singing to make things just perfect. For him the delivery of the show was the single most important thing and he was passionate about it. For those reasons I have heard people say he was pompous and arrogant. But he really loved his art, and anyone that called him out was due to encounter his temper because of that. He really did wear his heart on is sleeve though and will be surely missed. Sing with the angels.
Meatloaf had a heldentenor voice, which is rare. He could easily have made his living in the opera, (who tried to recruit him), but his heart was in rock and roll.
Well he kinda was doing operatic rock and roll, so the best of both worlds...
It’s only rock and roll but I like it.
He really wanted to do more stage acting on-off Broadway after he completed “Hair” in the UK, but he met Steinman there and 🦇 happened
Would've been great to see Meat Loaf in the cinema version of Phantom of the Opera. Gerard Butler was pretty good.....but it's almost like Phantom of the Opera was made for Meat Loaf.
@@markwest8960 Oh yeah, that would’ve been perfection.
He nailed it perfectly. Sad to hear of his passing. His voice rates up there with Freddy Mercury.
YES! YES! YES!
I just said that 5 seconds before I scrolled to your post! Freddie has the greatest voice of my lifetime and Meat is right behind him, in my humble opinion. Ugh, I wish I could go out of this to find something for you but I know I'll lose this post. You have to find where someone did a split screen of Freddie singing live, the same song as Kenya West in a studio, and Freddie absolutely crushed him. You will feel really sad for Kenya, and have new found amazement for Freddie. Trust me, worth it.
@@imapureblood4425 I love the duet he did with Montserrat Caballa.
NO ONE has ever and will ever sing our National Anthem as PERFECTLY as Meat Loaf!! RIP 😢
Meat's version always makes me cry. He was so sincere in his performance.
I had never heard this by Meatloaf. I never knew he had such a broad range and such a precise singing voice. He performed it with reverence and humility. He performed the song-- not to aggrandize himself, but to let the song speak for itself. Beautiful!
If I recall correctly, his Mother was a gospel singer as well as a teacher.
He is a trained Heldentenor, that is why.
Absolutely had one of the greatest natural voices ever! Buy his album man, you will see how amazing he was.
I heard he had the opportunity to study opera.
Fantastic... Lump in my throat.
This is how it should be sung. No awful vocal gymnastics, just honesty, emotion and power. I'm a Brit and this had me in tears.

You have a right to your opinion.
AMAZING! Sung as it should be! Respectful without all of the “me, me, me, theatrics” some performers add to bring attention to themselves instead of the reverence and respect of the song. WELL DONE! Some of you performers could take a lesson from this.
I loved seeing you tear up for our National Anthem, I do too, it’s a very emotional song to a patriot.
Thank you for playing Meat Loaf’s rendition, beautifully sang👍🏻🇺🇸
As a UK 🇬🇧 citizen I visit USA 🇺🇸 whenever I can . I have been to events where the Star spangled banner is sung . I absolutely love seeing the pure pride and emotion that the anthem creates amongst Americans .
Watch “The Star Spangled Banner Like You’ve Never Heard it Before” on RUclips and you’ll really understand why. Really an amazing story.
Thank you, Andy. Your comment touched me.
Your comment made me proud. Thank you sir.
I am Canadian and Meatloaf brought tears to my eyes with his stunning rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.
We were truly blessed to have enjoyed such an angelic voice. Heaven's choir just added an all-star to the roster & without a doubt has never sounded better. Cherish him like we did. RIP Meatloaf & thank you for the memories.
Nice😎
Well said....cheers from Texas!
This performance was amazing. Meatloaf killed it here. His delivery and understanding how to sing it in spite of (or because of) the echo in the stadium were brilliant. A true professional. RIP Meatloaf
Absolutely beautiful rendition by one of the most unique musical artists of all time. Meat Loaf, you will be missed.
What a voice. Meat was unique.
The anthem is a real test for a singer.
He nailed it. Perfect in every way. The feeling he put in at ( that our flag was still there) was pure emotion.
I do not listen to the rock music genre often, and I had actually forgotten what a tremendous voice Meat Loaf has (had... rest in peace)... that being said, the arrangement here, and his rendition of The Star Spangled Banner is really quite stunningly beautiful; his vocal range is suited to the Anthem, because it is most definitely not a song that everyone can sing (I personally can attest to that). Thanks for posting this; I had heard about this performance but had never seen/heard it, and this really was great for giving goosebumps. And once again, rest in peace, Mr. Meat Loaf.
Meatloaf had that voice that just hits you to the core, this was such a beautiful moment and rendition compared to most others.
His range is out of this world. And he keeps the same power in his voice at the high notes.
Definitely. We're all going to miss him.💔😔
Only equal singer, if not better is Olavi Virta.
Try Oceano and other songs too.
From here on out I would say that every single "performer" that is to sing the national anthem should be made to listen to this one first. THIS is how it is supposed to be done! RIP Mr. Aday
I'm a Brit... but this is undeniably the greatest anthem ever written. It brings my emotions to the surface when each time I hear it played or sang. But with Meatloaf at the helm, however, it certainly brings tears to the old eyes. An amazing anthem powered by an amazing voice, which derives from an amazing character. He now sings with the angels. He will be dearly missed. Rock in Peace... RIP
As I watched and saw tears coming to your eyes, I wondered if we were brothers. You can't tell it by looks - maybe by beliefs. I believe the Star Spangled Banner is a beautiful and wonderful song to be our National Anthem. I appreciate artists who can see the wonder of the song, let their abilities shine through the song, and sing it without trying to become more important than the song and what it represents. Meatloaf nailed it. I had never heard this before. Thank you for bringing it to us with the same respect he delivered it.
He had the heartfelt voice to make every American proud to be an American. First time that song has ever brought a tear to my eye. RIP meatloaf. You were so under-rated.
Canadian here - that made me cry, so beautiful!
Your comment gets a Gold Star from me! He holds a special place in so many hearts- I love reading comments by others who have loved him and his music and film stuff. He WAS underrated but I just had the thought: perhaps videos like this one will introduce this beautiful man’s work to a whole new generation of fans!!! Cheers!
This is a great rendition, but listen to Whitney Houston.
republican christian nationalst horseshit
Meat Loaf had incredible singing voice and he was a magnificent performer. And yes this one of the best renditions our national anthem. #ripmeatloaf
Meat could sing the phone book and crush it. That's why he will always be one if the greatest. R.i.P. Meat! You are forever loved!
As a veteran our national anthem has a special place in my heart. Hearing this by Meatloaf for the first time, brought tears to my eyes. Sad that we'll never hear him sing it live again.
Meatloaf: Perfection! message to singers and listeners (my Opinion) NEVER mess with this song! Sing it as written, it is our song and ALL should be able to sing along and NOT listen to all the personal fluff a singer can ad. RIP Meatloaf!
I could not agree with you more! I hate it when people add all their ridiculous flourishes.
He made several deviations and sang it like a very dramatic show tune. I'm glad you liked it, but this was still a creative reinterpretation.
My favorite bit? NOT doing the dumb octave climb on "Land of the free(EEEE!)"... SO well done.
I'd never heard Meatloaf's rendition before. I was a fan from way back - a teenager when Bat out of Hell was released. This was beautiful.
As a 63 yr old, born and raised in the US and having sung the Star Spangled Banner innumerable times since childhood, I was surprised that I still had the capacity to get all up in my feels over this song. I was brought to tears by Meatloaf's rendition. A performance so sublime yet deeply felt. RIP🙏
This is, by far, the very best I have ever heard our Anthem sung. No one has a voice like Meat Loaf. I had overall chills and tears in my eyes. R.I.P. Meat Loaf. And, MrLboyd, you have one of the smoothest and most soothing voices I have ever heard.
That performance is REGAL, STUNNING, BREATH-TAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL. Your reaction was fun to watch as well. I don't often go for reaction vids, but this was cool.
This is not what I expected from the man Who goes by the name is meatloaf But It did not disappoint very impressed
@@Ethangelion1.11 please do yourself a favor and listen to at least one or two of his original songs…. He was delightful!
@@tyrannosaurusgirl1612 I think I might I appreciate the recommendation
A notoriously difficult melody to sing well; and not only did Meatloaf do it clearly, enunciating so perfectly, but he sang the *words* in a way that created impact and meaning. What a loss it is to have lost him.
Great observations! Agreed!
I totally agree with you about liking this song, I get goose bumps every time I hear it. This is the first time hearing Meatloaf sing it and he absolutely nailed it, I have tears in my eyes while typing this but I'm a proud America whose not ashamed of it. Thank you so much for sharing this and for your wonderful reaction, you made me a fan of yours tonight. RIP Meat Loaf you will definitely be missed.
Meatloaf was an amazing performer. He absolutely nailed it! I’m with you our National Anthem hits me hard every time I hear it. As a veteran it means so much to me!
I agree. I can't listen to this song ever without tearing up. It means so much. He kept it so classy... it was perfection.
You're right, he delivered it with class, distinction and his voice carried so powerfully. The stadium echo made him sound even more glorious. What a great rendition. RIP Meatloaf
As the Mom of two men serving in the United States Air Force… only respectful renditions of our Anthem are appreciated. Meatloaf nailed it. Way to show respect. Meatloaf was a brilliant talent who will be missed.
All I can say is wow. I wasn’t expected that . I thought I’d get a rock version of the anthem . I’m just impressed , such a soulful rendition. Well done meatloaf . Rest easy .
I believe Meat had way more respect than that for the SSB, than to turn it into a rock song. Incidentally, Meat Loaf was responsible for some amazing ballads, as well.
I, like MrLboyd, have deep reverence for the Stat Spangled Banner. When we took the oath of office at the end of US Army Basic Training, I couldn't help but tear-up with pride as they played our national anthem. Just as I do today, with more humility and gratefulness than pride, now twenty-five years after a twenty year career. Stand and be grateful!
im australian and the passion this man put into singing his national anthem had me in tears amazing
This song touches me and I'm Australian, definitely an anointed song
Couldn’t agree more. Onions being cut somewhere every time the National Anthem plays! He did great! Great review. Thank you!

What a wonderful voice Meat Loaf had and I love that he sang the classic rendition. Gone much too soon. You will be missed! ❤️❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
I´m from Sweden but there was a tear rolling down my cheek. Very emotional and great song 🙂
Love your videos MrLboyd!
I could watch Meat Loaf sing this 100 times, and every time, I’ll choke up. Absolutely love it 🇺🇸
I'm covered in goosebumps! That had to be the best rendition of the anthem I have ever heard!
That's one of the most powerful and emotional renditions I have heard, absolutely brilliant💗
Meat Loaf is one of the few performers who you not only hear but feel. When he sings you can feel the passion or heartbreak in the song. He was and is a true master with his voice and he will be missed. R.I.P. kind sir it was an honor to be able to hear you sing.
Unlike other performers in the past,, Meatloaf had class and respect for the Anthem,,I don't think anyone has ever done such a beautiful version,,,,,RIP MEATLOAF 💜💜
I love how meatloaf didnt over exaggerate as so many others have done and feel on there faces. He showed up let it out and nailed it!
I am not an American and yet this performance bought tears to my eyes. It is unbelievable that this guy never won any awards for his music. RIP Meatloaf.
Such a breathtaking rendition. I get emotional every time I hear this song.
That was the BEST SUNG ANTHEM I HAVE EVER HEARD! I’m in tears.
The problem is, most them are pure crap.
This is how it's SUPPOSE to be sang. And the respect of the players and fans was spot on. They true love of patriotism!
RIP Meat Loaf......no one did it better!!!!
I love our star spangled banner song too. Thank you Patriot for sharing meatloaf's version. I had never heard it before. Whitney is my favorite. I cried like a little girl.
I am a Canadian and this rendition of your anthem brought tears to my eyes. RIP Meatloaf.
Few artists would show as much respect for the Star Spangled Banner as Meat Loaf.
Meat Loaf was a flag-waving patriot who cherished our freedom.
I don't typically like renditions of the "Star Spangled Banner" that take a lot of artistic liberty but have to say Meatloaf made this song sound very Majestic!!!!
William Kilpatrick
I certainly. agree with that. I hate most of the "interpretations" I hear so much that I would like to see the singing of it prohibited, except for crowds. Stick to instrumentals.

Wow! He nailed it!! That was fantastic! I’ve always thought Whitney Houston had the best version but it sounds like she has to share that title with Meatloaf
I first heard this a few years ago and was moved to tears. This is a wonderful performance. I'm British, but The Star Spangled Banner is by far my favourite National Anthem. The only problem with it is that it's not easy to sing, with an octave and a half range. That top note on "free" is a toughie.
I really like that, for the most part, he sang it straight. There weren't a lot of frills, runs or anything else. He just let the melody, the lyrics and his voice do what they were meant to do, instill emotion and convey dedication and loyalty.
I am Canadian but that brought tears to my eyes !! Really brought the emotion of the words out and did not ruin the melody by turning in a pop rendition like some do. Bravo ! .
I love Canada's anthem as well; Comes from my hockey days! Brings tears to my eyes when done well and with respect.
I feel exactly the way you do about the Anthem, and his beautiful rendition of it! I tear up every time I hear the song. Makes me proud of our incredible country.
Wow! Just wow! I’ve never heard him sing this and the emotion behind this amazing song got me choked up and gave me chills. RIP Meat Loaf!
I can’t listen to the National anthem without tearing up, Meat did a great job, RIP Meat you are missed!
P.s. thanks for showing this
Our National Anthem makes tears roll down my face when ever I hear it. Meat Loaf version was one on the best.
I don’t know how many times I’ve listened to Meatloaf sing the National Anthem and I never get tired of his version, it’s by far the best I’ve ever heard
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for your breakdown of the song. If only everyone could sing it with that reverence.
As a Canadian I've been exposed to your national anthem almost more than my own. It's an amazingly anthemic anthem. Meatloaf's rendition brought chills to my spin. Can only imagine how it must make any American feel. BTW that lift ... IS Meatloaf.
I'm Canadian too and damn, this performance was emotional and glorious-sounding. To actually be in that stadium and hear this must've been beyond awesome. I was never a huge Meatloaf fan for some reason but i always respected his great talent. After listening to this, i respect him wayyy more. Definitely one of the best-ever renditions of the Star Spangled Banner. RIP Meatloaf
It was all about the song and not about him. He understood that and, to me, that's what makes it so beautiful. His heldentenor always gave me goosebumps and he used it to perfection on a song that is hard to perfect....Rest in Peace.
I'm Canadian and that was incredible. I'm so sad that we lost him. That voice!
Brought me chills and tears to my eyes. He sang this song as it should. Simply the best performance ever.
‘Top three’ is right on the mark. Meat Loaf was never acknowledged as a serious performer by his peers- I’m willing to bet that none of them could sing this as flawlessly as Meat did.
Christopher Hod
The other two didn't even try.
Whitney Houston was awesome too.
Only the best of the best can sing this song as flawless
Please watch Whitney Houston again. She sang from her heart and soul. Meatloaf should have had more camera time!
Meat Loaf was a phenomenon! His voice gave us feeling and emotion so that we could connect to the song. He is by far my absolute favorite singer by far. I cry almost everyday since he passed away.
The world is bleaker without him in it for sure.
Absolutely!!
Thank you for taking us back to a time when everyone would stand for the National Anthem and showed respect and love for our country. RIP Meatloaf. 😇
I'm Canadian, I adore your anthem, and I was a Meatloaf fan from about the age of 8 years old when Bat Out of Hell came out. Possibly first album I owned, come to think of it. Anyway, this performance had me tearing up! What the-!? ☺️ I was so happy for Meatloaf that it was so *flawless* and beautifully done. MrLboyd, your reaction was so wholesome and beautiful to watch. Truly. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! ❤️
I always liked Meatloaf. I was born in the early 80's and discovered him in the late 90s. I had never heard anything quite like him before: Rock with an operatic voice with insane vibrato. I've heard a lot of versions of the Star Spangled Banner, but this is the best. The power. Insane. Rest in power, Meatloaf.
The single best rendition, I have had the privilege of listening to. No B. S., No frills, no making it your own song. The way it was ment to be sung!!!
I think what makes him excel at singing Star Spangled Banner is knowing of the history of the song. ❤️❤️❤️
That was absolutely magnificent! I had never seen/heard this performance…it was exquisitely and reverently executed…and the way it echoed and reverberated throughout the stadium was stunning!
I started to tear up less than 15 seconds in.
see now that was amazing. i don't understand why so many sing it and try to change it all up... effectively destroying it.... SO MANY do that. Meatloaf nailed it.
They do it cause they either don't have the range to do it properly or want to make a name (or just plain spectacle) for the performance. I sincerely believe that if you can not hit the notes properly, just say no and let someone else sing it.
They do that to make the performance all about them. When you think about it, to alter the national anthem is a very arrogant and self-centered act, and only shows a singer's true colors and insecurities.
Its been almost 30 years since then and still one of the ones that gives me bumps every time
I am still crying - what an artist! Pure love and talent. He will be mist
I love the little boy, with his cap on his heart at 2:13 showing honor to his country!! It's boys like that that give me hope for America the Beautiful!! Two rare but beautiful things, I black man who loves America and a white man that sings with depth:)
I'm just watching this now...I started getting teary-eyed, and looked up and you were too. 😊 And now I don't feel like such a softie. 🙂 I was going to suggest Whitney Houston's rendition but you just said that one is in your top 3! I can remember watching her perform the national anthem and the circumstances that were going on at that time...I don't think there was an American that didn't get up off of their couch and stand up for her powerful spirited delivery! It gave me chills, tears and above all pride. She secured her spot in history as an American princess that day. If you weren't there watching at the time, you can't know how it affected everyone watching. Her coming out in a simple USA warmup suit said loud and clear, this isn't about me, it's about my country. I wish I had seen Meatloaf sing this live when it happened. My mom is in a nursing home and is a huge Meatloaf fan. She was the one that told me he had passed. I'm going to send this to her, I know she will enjoy it! Thank you!
It's so sad that he recently passed away :(
I was in the Gulf War at that time, and out in the front so we didn't have access to TV or anything. When we finally got our flight home, they played Whitney singing the National Anthem on the airplane. First time we'd even heard or seen it, although we'd all heard about it by that point. The impact was incredible, and a moment I'll never forget.
3 octave voice
Meatloaf's version is outstanding, but Whitney Houston, for me, is Number 1.
Whitney pales in comparison to Meat Loaf. She screamed; he sang.
That was the best rendering of the Anthem I've ever heard, I teared up.
The absolute, best rendition of this song that I have ever heard. Love you, miss you...RIP.
Meatloaf's rendition is wonderful but the young man hosting this video is even more wonderful. Thank you so much for your words on the anthem. I too am always moved to tears by the Star Spangled Banner.
R.I.P. Meat Loaf. You were definitely one of a kind and you rock! Francis Scott Key wrote an absolute timeless masterpiece in The Star Bangled Banner and Meat Loaf nailed his performance of it!
I'm missing Meat Loaf and this is one reason! He got the range all across every note! BRILLIANT!
Outstanding rendition! Brought a tear to my eye, the song and the singer (RIP)..... and on a side note, NEVER, EVER, SHOULD ANYONE KNEEL WHEN OUR ANTHEM IS BEING SANG
Love it! Thank you for letting the song play all the way through. RIP Meat Loaf.
