56% of people have an incomplete recovery at 6 months after

- 🤕The results are from a JAMA study that essentially concluded, "hmm maybe we should be doing more early concussion care." It was obviously a more articulate concussion than that, but... 🤷♂️😂
📈56% of participants - MORE THAN HALF - had symptoms that were interfering with their work, family, and social life at 6 MONTHS post injury.
If you follow me in any capacity, you'll hear the echo of a 21-30 day recovery. 21-30 day recovery. 21-30 day recovery. 21-30 day recovery. 21-30 day...🙉
That's because when we assess you early, and implement the appropriate, individualized, evidence-based rehab plan... your chance of a complete and timely recovery goes through the roof.💪🧠

I think you get used to it. You forget how normal felt. The hardest thing to ignore is the memory loss.
Yeah, lots of people adopt a "new normal." And there's another subset of people who think they were BETTER than they ACTUALLY were before their injury (i.e., good ol days bias). In either case, we can still make great progress 🙏❤️🧠
So I’m not actually normal iv just adopted a new normal is this actually true I thought iv recovered
Frustrating
The ER doctor's said, rest for a few days and by Monday, you'll be good. Not true, that's how I found you searching concussion recovery. Thanks! Great working virtually with you.
Your concussion isn't the same as every single person on the entire earth because of a youtube short.
@@profiablewtf are you talking about
@@M3Lucky He meant to say not every concussion is same , Like there are severity stages for it and most concussions go away at the day of injury itself, Some might last longer like about a week but in serious TBI cases may last months and some may have permanent damage too.
@@MasterOogwgay780 OP didn't f*cking imply it was the same for everyone, she said HER ER doctors advice was wrong for HER.
@@M3Lucky So you mean to say Doctor's advice is wrong and a youtube short has given the right advice without even knowing the severity in her case?? Are you delusional?
5 years now still haven't recovered but im still trusting God for heaking
Well if you’d like a self-paced walk through rehab, and a weekly chat with me: www.drheisig.com/courses 🙏❤️🧠
Recovered after couple of months trust God
Happy 4 you
Had a parachute accident in the army in 2017. In 2024 I’m still having focus issues, I stay away from people because I get annoyed easily and can snap and don’t wanna be a bother
Me to I get irritated and angry and confused
Thank you for your service!

I was told I should be ok because it's week 3.
I am not okay.
Update? I’m at 3 weeks and no better
It's been 7 months since my accident, and the head and ear pressure (+noise sensitivity) still won't go away...😮💨
Over a year & I still feel a drip of fluid from the top of my skull with mild pressure after the treadmill or lifting 10 pounds, I thought resting would heal the injury since almost any activity made this burning fluid leak from my eyes…but it seems an hour a day walking seems to be the best healing process.
same for me literally, do you think this will go away?
@@ImNera hopefully!
@@ImNera I was healing after trying to mostly avoid screen time except for work! I was feeling sick and spending time on social media and then the dripping from my skull down out my ear started up again, so reducing screen time is very effective mixed with mild exercise like walking a few miles!
And what about at one year? It’s been almost 9 months for a family member. Still struggling with headaches and occasional dizziness, as well as vision disturbance.
After 10 days of symptoms we recommend reaching out to a concussion clinic/specialist. I offer virtual care & case consults if you're interested. I'd be happy to help any way that I can 🙏🧠
@@drmarkheisigWhat is worse dizziness or confusion
@@drmarkheisigI need help I have 6moth and I still feel all the councosion symptoms
@@dannymatamoros7397 I am one year in and felt better after taking NAC, B vitamins and oils (fish, olive, D )
It took me 1.5 years! What’s has helped me is walking on a treadmill specifically for an hour, gradually increasing my speed…after only a week it felt much better and after a month I barely feel it
Are there any explanations or help for stuff like this?
After the concussion I just feel blank, like nothing is happening in my brain.
I dont know why, but eversince It has felt like ive lost every emotion besides anger and happiness.
somedays, I feel okay just a little foggy, but then somedays later, I can't think like my brain wants to shut down for a while
Sometimes feeling confused, or unable to follow simple instructions, trouble reading
Its a lot i know, but just have no idea what happens, or why these things happened, besides the obvious concussion and brain damage blah blah blah.
Check out my FAQ playlist. In particular, my content on "why PCS?" There's a lot more research and rehab options than most family docs and neurologists present.
@@drmarkheisig ok, thank you
My partmer is suffering a Mild concussion, She has lost some memory, But does remember alot of things aswell, but still has some blanks.
Hey there! I'd reach out to one of these clinics if symptoms are still lingering: clinics.completeconcussions.com/
Out of this percentage how many sat around the entire recovery and how many resumed an exercise routine? Also what was the cause of the concussion? Was it other issues that cause the concussion such a syncope or sports? There’s way too many variables.
I'm glad you're critical of research. Syncope doesn't mean concussion, do that takes care of that. Concussion from MVA, sport, falls, etc.. share pathophysiology and recovery timelines. Physical activity levels are absolutely a factor - but that's not the point of the study. The point was to assess if standard hospital care was successful. The data suggests "no." Research like this helps improve care. Now that we know "take it easy, your symptoms should go away on their own" is poor advice. 🤙
The algorithm has finally started showing me stuff like this. About 100 concussions too late.
Hopefully you don't need this information again in the future
I have medically documented at least eight concussions one being extremely damaging to the point it’s a 90 days to recover. I would say over the course of my hockey career I’ve had 16 concussions I’m 62 years old out. I’m loading a significant difference in my cognitive ability, memory processing. I wish my wife and I listen to my speech, and if she hears anything off, please make a note of it but don’t give me crap about her adult son talking about it just see if it’s consistent.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to get some baseline neurocognitive screening done with your primary care. It would help you get more objective data for yourself and your family about your hearing, cognition, etc...
How about after 4 years ?!
I’m still having issues after a concussion.
Brain feels “foggy” pretty much 24/7
I've seen (and helped) folks with symptoms for 5+ years. If we can't make a complete recovery, we can usually make significant progress 🤙🧠❤️

I’m at 6 years and still doing terrible. My life sucks now
I'm sorry to hear that. I posted this link on another one of your comments, but have you reached out to anyone in this network? clinics.completeconcussions.com/
Do people really get rid of the headaches and lack of balance. I don’t know what a concussion is exactly but I do know two years ago someone put a great amount of pressure on my head I do feel better than the beginning by a lot but still I get headaches on the side that was hurt in a way I had not before and I get dizzy more often during the mornings and at night. I’m kind of afraid I’ll have to live with this forever but if people have found ways to get rid of this side effects it will give me a lot of hope

The persisting symptom which is begging me is due to post concussion syndrome is that
Whenever I pass over trenches or speed humps on bike.. the pressure from the bounce comes and hits the brain from inside...then by brain kinda starts aching...
Please reply what could be the problem
I can't diagnose via comments. Generally speaking, could be a cervical spine, visual or vestibular issue.
I suffered a concussion on the 7th of October and it's been 128 day's and it comes and goes. Is there treatment for my concussion?

I just had a concussion two days ago and it's rough, do you have any tips or anything. My brain feels like it's in a constant fog.
I don't even remember typing this
Hey there! I can't give medical advice in the comment section. I have lots of resources on my social accounts, blog, and even a self-paced Concussion Reset Program taking you step-by-step through recovery. 🙏❤️🧠
My first one took a year and a half
Yep! That's not uncommon for injuries that go unmanaged or improperly managed.
If the syptoms are just litle like my head hurted that day and wierd thing was that after 2 days felt bit dizzy and ringed in ears some times. Its not anything dangerouse?
same as u just 3 days since it happened I think the body will heal with time don’t worry
It doesn't appear that you suffered from any red flags, so nothing particularly dangerous. It does sound as if you sustained a whiplash and/or concussion injury. If you're still feeling symptoms, it's worth getting an assessment. You can chat with me here (www.drheisig.com/schedule) or find a clinic near you: clinics.completeconcussions.com/
It can totally heal with time. If you're having symptoms for 10 days or more after an impact, though, that is when all the data suggests you definitely want to intervene with some rehab: clinics.completeconcussions.com/
How about 9 years later? Is it possible to never fully recover? I'm thinking so...
It is possible to have symptoms last that long/indefinitely. AND... I've also found that it's always possible to make progress - even if it's just "some" progress.
Can 100% recovery is possible in diffuse axonal brain injury grade 1
DAI is usually attributed to more severe forms of TBI rather than mTBI/concussion. In any case, prognosis at any severity TBI is very patient-specific.
13years still not ok
