I was always so impressed that John got on board with this project. It is one of the most interesting things to happen in modern rock in the last few decades. Take one of the most influential rock drummers, most interesting frontmen/guitarists and a bass legend and blend til ready. Gives me chills
You know, I was rolling once listening to this song lol.. And when you get a headache from listening to this song.. You know that this song is kicking ass! Lol.. And you know that your roll is working lol.
He's said before that he doesn't need to think about what he's doing all that much when he is tearing it up on the drums. It is as natural as breathing to the man. What a freakin' machine!
@Papatorrejano you got it right on... Johannes isn't some random backup guitarist... the guy is amazing. Eleven put out some really great material. Anyone who thinks they are a Queens fan and doesn't know who Alan is should do some research.
Dear ajuvix, i experienced the original youtube audio and it was amazing...it was taken down for some time for reasons unknown(unexplained)...i grew up with john paul jones and admire him to this day (40 years later)
I just realizes this sounds similar to Rag Doll by Aerosmith, especially the vocal phrasing. Probably an unconscious influence when these guys wrote this song, or the vocals anyway...
@ohgarboy It's all good...I'm glad SOME of us can actually have a conversation here without descending into whatever it is these days that passes for debate. Thanks for civil and reasoned discussion!
@iownu92 By the time that TCV released their first album they had already recorded 31 songs in the studio, only 13 of them were on the album. By now they have a much larger selection than you'd think.
A double kick back . . . a beat as old the late 60's (Turtles drummer) . . . Can somebody invent something new for us "old" folks . . . Peace . . . be glad we have it.
Holy shit, you're right...This has got to be a coincidence, I give a lot of respect to these guys, especially JPJ, therefore this makes me a sad panda.
i actually enjoyed the WHOLE album, something about it just stands out miles apart from anything else out there, except maybe "Queens of the Stone Age" this track is a personal fave
I can see why JPJ called on Dave Grohl to drum with him. His intensity reminds me alot of John Bonham. Dave is not the greatest technician in the world but he just puts it in your face. The guys a friggin animal.
Actually it was Dave grohl who started the band... but yeah man dave is definitely a big power house drummer. Especially in his song for the deaf/ queens of the Stone Age era. But nothing beats John “bonzo” Bonham.
nick had nothing to do with writing the first record. sure it would be cool to have him tour with them but i'm gonna go to the tour if there coming near me no matter what
The album has some killer tracks, but do they play any other stuff on tour? I feel like they'd probably grow bored of playing the same thing over and over.
@Jept That's fine, it's your opinion. I'm just from an era when you had to be of a certain caliber to be up there. It's the equivelant of reality stars versus true actors who've studied their craft. Grohl himself says he's "a dummy when it comes to the craft and technique and that he doesn't ever practice". It's an insult to those out there who are serious about the instrument and spend countless hours honing their craft but will never get a shot..
@Shmuhlest Actually, I do know some bands who like to play other people's stuff, as well. I'm only saying that since this is a relatively new band, there's not a very large selection of songs to play. No need to be a wise ass.
@rcskins You say that, But he wouldnt be there if he didnt think something of the three of them..... And as JPJ opinion matters more to me than a saddact on youtube then i'd say JPJ is doing nicely where he is right now for another couple of months till TCV finishes.
@cgb1050 Johannes has an interesting musical background way back from the 80's. He's not the average sessionist guy. Google him and you'll understand why these fellas consider him their secret weapon.
@ivanaratoPlease don't insult me. There's a big difference between simple and tasteful. These guys have neither. it's just bashing as hard as you can. That's not simple. Charlie Watts is simple but brilliant.
Must be a hard life. I'm sure it looses it's lustre at times. Trying to please hordes of people when you just wanna chill with the family or jam in the garage instead of playing the same ol same ol concert after concert.
I was always so impressed that John got on board with this project. It is one of the most interesting things to happen in modern rock in the last few decades. Take one of the most influential rock drummers, most interesting frontmen/guitarists and a bass legend and blend til ready. Gives me chills
And one Alain Johannes for good meassure
It's retro, nostalgic and fresh all rolled into one. It makes you crave more!
Wish I could see this video in 1080p at least. TCV, if you've got a higher quality video anywhere, would love it if you uploaded it.
You know, I was rolling once listening to this song lol..
And when you get a headache from listening to this song.. You know that this song is kicking ass! Lol.. And you know that your roll is working lol.
i saw them live... best show i have seen.. pretty much ever.. Album is fricken awesome too
Is that John Paul Jones?
Yes ! That's one supergroup of a kind 😍

The best 55 mins of tv I've ever seen.
Awesome sound guys, great music !
you guys are just great.
I saw them a couple of days ago in ATL. Awsome concert!!!
so is alain johannes actually apart of the band or is he just playing with them?
Dear ajuvix,
i experienced the original youtube audio and it was amazing...it was taken down for some time for reasons unknown(unexplained)...i grew up with john paul jones and admire him to this day (40 years later)
@LedSandman It's actually a Fender Jazzmaster
i can't wait until this airs!
I just realizes this sounds similar to Rag Doll by Aerosmith, especially the vocal phrasing. Probably an unconscious influence when these guys wrote this song, or the vocals anyway...
love the bass sound
They were brilliant at ACL!
@ohgarboy It's all good...I'm glad SOME of us can actually have a conversation here without descending into whatever it is these days that passes for debate. Thanks for civil and reasoned discussion!
@Drummerjuicer not sure, but I think a (Fender) Jaguar
it's pretty sick that dave is back on drums
Love the sound!
@duff13579 that jazzmaster has average humbucker pickups, they need that frame cuz the jazzmaster pickups are way big, check 2:24
I'm ready for another tour or another album
amaziiiing band dudes you rooock!!!! i really like it!!
@iownu92 By the time that TCV released their first album they had already recorded 31 songs in the studio, only 13 of them were on the album. By now they have a much larger selection than you'd think.
so glad i was there
awesomeness!! love this new band.. put together from other bands..

I trully believe Them crooked vultures is the future of rock&roll.
Killer.. jpj you rock..
YES!
wha kind of guitar is alain using??
anyone know what guitar Josh is using?
BB120 maton if i'm not mistaken
I know THIS isn't QOTSA..it's TCV. I was commenting on Dangilman's post.
KILLER!!!
AWESOME
A double kick back . . . a beat as old the late 60's (Turtles drummer) . . . Can somebody invent something new for us "old" folks . . . Peace . . . be glad we have it.
sick!!!
theyre gonna kick some serious ass at coachella
actually, that's a Jagmaster (pasive pickups) ;)
Grohl is a wildman lol awesome
good stuff
FUCK YEAH!!!!THIS IS AWESOME!!!
@ivanarato Sure. It's what makes the world go round.
America needs more good R&R JUST LIKE THIS.....too much pussy R&B out there these days....Thanks Dave, Josh and JPJ, the good old boys needed this!
Holy shit, you're right...This has got to be a coincidence, I give a lot of respect to these guys, especially JPJ, therefore this makes me a sad panda.
why the static crowd?
alain johannes is a badass
it¡s a Fender Jagmaster)
i know who you guys are. but who's the other guy on guitar??
i was asking, cuz someone way below posted that. i didnt think he was right either
Dave Grohl on drums!
this song is faster paced and better all around. the riff is similair but drums and bass are way different.
the other guitarist is a former chili pepper?
no, his on cd too
spinning in daffodils there his voice
love the sound.. like its just them jamming, not at some gigantic show.
look up gunman. great tune
No...that's Alain Johannes from Eleven
john paul jones still has it, wicked bass
i actually enjoyed the WHOLE album, something about it just stands out miles apart from anything else out there, except maybe "Queens of the Stone Age" this track is a personal fave
it's Alain Johannes.

Hey crooked vulturs video guy - use a deinterlace filter or make it progressive for the web, those motion lines are irritating!
Troy's playing in Sweethead currently
nick had nothing to do with writing the first record. sure it would be cool to have him tour with them but i'm gonna go to the tour if there coming near me no matter what
its strange seeing josh in a band where there are plenty of live vids but none of them top the studio version.
Tasty!
yeah coolman
you're cool
I'm assuming without Nick again? Such a drag the way that whole thing happened.
i was there
different generation of kids
if this were the early 90s everyone would be
The album has some killer tracks, but do they play any other stuff on tour?

@nights1515 hahaha no no.. not headbang or anything. they all just looked blank that's all.
God, they needa show more Grohl towards the end lol...
They are just enjoying the music what you expect them to do go headbang crazy? It's not a very handbanging song let them chill and enjoy good music!
@dealorn Damn right it is!!!
wow you're cool
please go 2 OXEGEN!
@bryanmberman indeed
@rcskins ...Who the hell are they?
Ya who is he, he was wit them on SNL 2
that guy is alain johannes
That old bassist should be in some band or something!!
Well he did Led Zepplin 😁 that's not bad 😂😂
@Shmuhlest
Actually, I do know some bands who like to play other people's stuff, as well. I'm only saying that since this is a relatively new band, there's not a very large selection of songs to play.
No need to be a wise ass.
Awesome! That audience SUCKED though. Shoulda had me there.
Suenan de coña!!!
@gtoledo3 hahahahahahaha.....yes...and jesus plays the drums! ;-)
@rcskins You say that, But he wouldnt be there if he didnt think something of the three of them..... And as JPJ opinion matters more to me than a saddact on youtube then i'd say JPJ is doing nicely where he is right now for another couple of months till TCV finishes.

@cranie4 this isn't queens of the stone age bro, so yeah, without nick
somehow Josh seems to not let anyone else in on the show
lmfao thats hilarious
