    for example say that I have basic shapes in the build area but want to scale them both at the same time how would I do that? I cant seem to be able to select more then 1 object at a time and its quite annoying.

    How do you cut a larger object and print it in several pieces when it’s too big to fit on the build plate.?

    • @imaginationtechnology6291
      @imaginationtechnology6291  6 лет назад

      You would have to load the model into Flashprint, cut it into the size(s) you would like and then save the file in a .3mf format. That way you could keep all of your cut pieces separated and remove the ones you've already printed.

    Any idea about whether
    1
    Blender is suitable for 3d printing modeling?
    2
    Does blender output file work well with flashprint slicing software?

    • @imaginationtechnology6291
      @imaginationtechnology6291  5 лет назад

      Most mesh files formats will work through export in Blender. But simply put you would File > Export > STL and make sure the scene units is checked. The biggest problem exporting any 3D model will be mesh errors, Flashprint attempts to correct basic issues but may end up making a mess of the exported file. If that happens it's good to identify where the errors are and correct them.

    Hi, a scaling question....
    I started my design, 2D in AutoCad, dimensions in "realtime" in mm, It imported fine into SketchUp PRO 2019, all dimensions correct. Then exported as .stl from SketchUp (also tried .obj).
    Started FlashPrint v.3.28.0,loaded model file in, but it came in very small, tiny in fact.
    I used scale tool, manually entered Z: as 3mm (which is what it should be), and as I had uniform scaling ticked X & Y axis became 74.28 and 79.96 respeectively, which they are (only 0.04mm out). The scaling factor displayed as 99999.00% !!
    It does print nicely and finished part dimensions are perfect,
    but this does not seem the correct way to me.
    Am I doing something stupid ??
    Any suggestions to what is going on gratefully received.
    Thanks, Steve

    • @imaginationtechnology6291
      @imaginationtechnology6291  5 лет назад +1

      So when imported into Sketchup it's in the correct units of mm, but export appears to have changed? When exporting STL in Sketchup on the model units dialogue did you set it to mm or model units?

    • @stevietee10
      @stevietee10 5 лет назад

      MrBen527 you will need to buy some filament for it. If you are new to CAD I would start with TinkerCAD. It's free and doesn't require a serious computer to use.if you're not new to CAD then this should be a lot of fun for you! Congratulations on your new printer.

    is there no way to send via usb cable?

    • @imaginationtechnology6291
      @imaginationtechnology6291  7 лет назад

      The majority of the printers in our office are not close to our computers, so our preferred method is flash drives. But you can absolutely plug in via USB to print directly. You can also use the wifi or LAN option for some Flashforge models.

    • @LurifaxDK
      @LurifaxDK 7 лет назад

      Thank you for your reply. I have the Flashforge Creator Pro Dual and there simply is no option to send the files to the printer via USB. :-(

    • @imaginationtechnology6291
      @imaginationtechnology6291  7 лет назад

      You are right, the Creator Pro does not have a way to send files via USB through Flashprint and therefore you need to use the SD Card. You can use a third party software like Simplify3D (costs $) and it will send files via USB. I literally just walked over there and tested it out so I know that works. Also you can use a cloud based platform like Astroprint for free (No dual print option though with the cloud slicer) but you may be able to slice in Flashprint and use Astroprint to send the file.

    • @LurifaxDK
      @LurifaxDK 7 лет назад

    I can't believe that FlashPrint *still* has no USB support for my Creator Pro after several years. It clearly knows what printer it is connected to, but no way to send Gcode across USB. Constantly removing and inserting SD cards between computer and printer is kludgy and unacceptable. I've *never* had a problem with USB communications between Simplify 3D and my FFCP. It's a real shame that FlashPrint prefers to remain in the stone-age in this regard.
