- The new Parliament could open more fault lines between the north and the south. With the freeze on delimitation set to expire in 2026, there is speculation over just how much the strength of Lok Sabha will be increased by. And there is fear that if such an increase is based on population, then the southern states will suffer. Will south India pay the price for the Hindi-belt states' rapid population growth? The populous states have failed to elect responsible leaders. Giving them more power to determine national policies would be like giving the future of the country into the hands of bad decision-makers. Why are the champions of meritocracy silent on this topic?

@@rajashashankgutta4334 For the state-level elections may be. But, the country is of a federal nature and that basic understanding should not be jeopardized. One state should not have to suffer because of the bad decisions of another. This is the very thing that caused countries to exit the EU.
Then why do you need a caste census? To 'punish' the castes who controlled populations?
If those leaders are bad, stop Stalin and CPM from going to Bihar. It was these parties and not BJP who ruled the North. Lastly, these are speculations, what if the seats are linearly increased to 800 something.

Delimitation should continue, South India followed the guidelines set by Central Govt while Noth and other parts country did not. Why the one of follows the rules get less representativon. South India will definitely protest this move.

All states must be given equal strength in Lok Sabha. Increasing the strength of Lok Sabha will dilute the significance of already insignificant northern India. Without an equal voice at national polity, the southern people will be left at the mercy of Hindi Belt which is known for its politics of hate, crime and corruption. South Indians must wake up and realise the threat they are going to face, We are going to become the minority other in our own country. Lets ensure Delimitation doesn't take place through 2024 election

1.Don't we charge higher taxes on high income earners? Why? To distribute money. Tax allocation between states is similar to that.
2. We have universal adult franchise in our country. Everyone has a right to vote irrespective of whether they are backward or illiterate.

Leaders don't decide this. A delimitation commission with a retd Supreme Court Judge will chair the committee with one representative from every political party, all the uneducated leaders will have their voice too. ECI will be a part of it as well.
Bjp couldn't do a proper delimitation in Bengaluru corporation , deliberately they delayed corporation election since September 2020 and here they are talking about delimitation of India

Why not make a point based system which considers population, area, contribution to GDP, percentage of tax payers etc? Too complicated?

it literally is, population only accounts for 15% weightage. News agencies won't tell you that because it doesn't suit their narrative.
@@shIoksjaerI think you are being confused between 2 issues, that 15% weightage to population thing is for devolution of funds, Delimitation of seats at least till date is done by population only. Delimitation ≠ Devolution
I suggest something similar.
Just keep the percentage the same but increase the number of seats. In that way every state would have the same representation as before but still we can improve our administration.
Equal representation from north and south.actuslly we should have only 2 mp in each state.

As in any other field an MP or MLA should know more than one language as our country is as vast as a contitinent.

What did congress do in its 65+ years of rule?
In 1947 partition happened due to power politics in the United and central provinces ( currently UP ,MP) leading to split of hindi speaking hindus and urdu/Hindi speaking Muslim .urdu became national language of pak . Nehru grabbed political control after that due to the population split shifting in favour of hindi speaking northern region. 1949 he pushed further with official language as hindi to gain complete control of India with the northern region population, pushing out much more capable leaders from other regions. So People got stupid pathetic leaders as PM, whose only claim to top leadership is quantity, not quality. If this continues with the same foolishness, they will be putting india in danger again by punishing performance and rewarding non-performance.

We have controlled our population as per our old policy by Indira Gandhi and north still hasn't meet any of these yet gaining in terms of tax, seats, political presence and everything. Hight time to address this issue otherwise split the country so that is better governed and represented.

Education should also be a criteria for seats rather than area or population like lowest educational state should not give more seats than the developed states.
one thing i find funny is that the seats were froze to control population and now the government is gonna allocate seats based on population lol
Some people demand reservation according to their cast population.congress pary support it also agreed to increase reservation if they win they give slogan of jitni avadi utna Hak means people of all cast should have same percent of wealth as their cast percent in population so by this logic it why should north should be given more seats.

Using conjecture, bias and speculative language to subtly stoke fears in the Southern states.
No one knows yet concretely how things would take place but beforehand they are fear mongering. Same strategy for CAA and farm laws was used.
No census has even taken place. Last one was 2011 and the pandemic further delayed the excercise. Let's see how and when it happens and it's actual figures.

The thing is simple:
1) for effective function of governance seats must increase .
2)If an MP has excessive amount of voters he/she might misuse that power or he/she might give ineffective results unequivocally ,hence his/her power must be curtailed.
3)since north is huge and there's a huge population it will get a bit more benefits than south since this is the motto of democracy and socialism . But it certainly doesn't mean that south power will get reduced since most of the official power is under the southern people .
So, the thing is obvious yet people r trying to instigate some not so liberal ideas which r based on equality ...
The new parliament is necessary to bring new reforms just like India asks UN to bring reforms .

Recently Patharkang and Nilambari constituency were merged as the population was few in a northern state which was right.
