- OBSCURIST TOURIST 129 - I've long had a love affair with Bisbee, Arizona. From the first moment I randomly discovered Bisbee while on a long road trip, it's a place that I continue to visit and a place that continues to endear itself to me. Named America's Best Historic Town many times, there is something undeniably charming about this place - and it's almost unknown outside of America. In fact, it's one of those places that if you know ... you know - and you will continue to visit it time and time again. So come along with me as I give you a quick walkthrough of this amazing and virtually unknown American gem.

This is a GREAT Town. I was born there in 1952. This was the best place to grow up in. Everyone seemed to know each other. I would like to move back there one day.
Amazing! I really hope you make it back. Such a gem! 🤗❤️
Born in Bisbee in 1972! Howdy, fellow Bisbee born!
I LOVE Bisbee too. This makes me wanna come back again. The place I stayed sold.; The Old Schoolhouse. I wonder where I'd go this time.
Going to bisbee at night, after 2am when st elmos (the bar) stops serving alcohol, it gets so peaceful. I love to go up ontop of castle rock ans just watch the lights from above.
Bisbee is a spiritual place. I wish it was affordable to live there
Magical place, 1 day is not enough~ so beautifully unique ~
100% recommend to visit this city. Calm, beautiful. It's close to historic Tombstone, AZ too.
Yes, I did not mention the proximity to the amazing Tombstone 🤗
cute town! Beautiful skies. Hope to visit this little town Bisbee. Thank you for sharing 💯👍😊
I would take ya on a date there. 🌹🌹🌹 Well a tour
If you like Bisbee, youd love Jerome- on the mountain in between Prescott and Sedona - fantastic views!!!
I didn't think much of Jerome, especially that drive up from the Prescott side.
Most people fall in love with Bisbee, like my daughter and I, some peopleate looking for another LasVegas? Been there15 times, can't wait to go back! Warren, just down the road is very cool. Love their Saturday Farmers Market!
Lived in Bisbee in 92-3 , as a year of big city detox after moving west, from Boston. It was quite a huge change…but much needed. (Anyone remember Muddys? Renaissance Cafe? I worked at both) Though at that point, before internet, it proved to be too isolated for my then 20 something lifestyle needs. I didn’t move far, just to Tucson… so occasionally I take a day trip to walk around the steps in Tombstone canyon.
Used to deliver water, juice and tea to the Renaissance Cafe at that time, remember it well. 👍🏻
My band plays in Bisbee all the time; The Bisbee Grand, St. Elmo Bar, Bisbee Social Club. It's one of our favorite towns to play. It's ALWAYS a good time!
For real! I love seeing live music in Bisbee - and the vibe is so awesome. Such an artist and music town. Hope to see you and the band rock one day! 🔥
I definitely need to visit this place. So unique and captivating.
It’s an absolute gem.
We visited as tourists in 2010 and kept coming back. Finally in 2017 we said "why not?" and sold our home and built on 4 acres in nearby Hereford. Absolutely love it here. The weather is unparalleled,, people are great, Bisbee & Tombstone nearby, etc. One thing I really like about Bisbee - unlike Tombstone, it doesn't have that cheesy "tourist town" vibe. I don't know how it avoids it because there are always a lot of tourists visiting, but it succeeds. Do come visit, you'll love it.
@@BrakRulesAll It's definitely on my more immediate list. Thanks for sharing that with me.
Your video captured the spotlight used by the Castle Rock Hotel to flash the "Batman" signal on the rocks on the other side of the street. That alone, scares away the criminal element. Super safe town.
Thank you for doing this!! :D
I would have loved to visit there. One day.
Why so handsome? I don't know, I was just born this way. LEGEND
😂😂😂
It’s a beautiful city, so close to the US/Mexico border you can almost see Mexico. Fun people, fantastic history, lots of wonderful little shops, restaurants and hotels. Bring your walking shoes and beware of the elevation…it will sneak up on you if you’re not hydrated.
The elevation gets me every time … and the constant staircases don’t help. 😂
I very much enjoyed seeing amazing Bisbee through your eyes. Your unique and relatable perspective is unlike others vlogs that I have watched. I have yet to visit this charming, soul-captivating town, but from this video, Bisbee makes a similar impression in my mind as Asheville, NC. And like Asheville, it has struck a chord in my heart. I look forward to visiting some day soon.
Awww, thanks so much for watching!!! Such kind words. Bisbee is such a gem and I really hope you get to see it one day. I’m heading to Asheville later this year, and your description makes me even MORE excited! 🤗❤️
Visiting Tucson soon and taking a day trip to Bisbee. Looking very forward to it!
Tucson is also amazing!!! ❤️🤗
Bisbee? Are you kidding?
Went there once and never going back.
Bisbee gave me the same creepy feeling I used to get when I watched the series Carnevale.
Really, I went in march & happened to be there during the motor cycle festival. I LOVED IT, also when we were in one of the stores a ghost touched my grandmas hair. My body is wanting to visit that town again like it’s calling me to go back. It’s such a weird comforting feeling. Why was it creepy to you? We stayed in sierra vista because everything was booked in Bisbee that weekend.
Pythian Castle, one of my favorite bldgs. in Bisbee.
Put on the whole armor of God! After all is said and done, Bisbee is an old, unique mining town.
I’ve driven through Bisbe many times but never stopped to enjoy it!
Where do u live? How come u never stopped to check it out
I was stationed at ft. Huachuca n always visit bisbee n the surrounding towns.
I was there last summer. Spent 3 days. I loved every second. Beautiful place indeed. ❤
I’ve never been in the summer, but I bet it’s insanely hot! 🥵
@@ObscuristTourist it was super hot but not as bad as pheonix was. I even did the Bisbee 1000 stair climb. That was tough.
@@ObscuristTourist Bisbee is over a mile high.
My husband and I got married in the Copper Queen Hotel in 2016. We were married at sundown in front of the firplace on the second floor lobby. We love Bisbee and go back every time we get a chance. I also love Bisbee turquoise from the Lavender Mine and collect jewelry made with it.
I know exactly where that fireplace is! I love that you guys got married there. The Copper Queen Hotel is one of my favorite places to stay, despite it being a little more run down over the years. But I still love it. 😍
I loved Bisbee when my twin and I visited with my mom and sister back in October, I did not like Tucson or Phoenix (Mom lives in Tucson) so it was great to be in a walkable town and Cafe Cornucopia was amazing and the mine tour was a great value for money imo
I'd love it if it had a train line going to Phoenix or Tucson
There is another RUclipsr in Bisbee. He owns the Jonquil Motel and has the Motorcycle Travel Channel
I didn't see the charm when I went there last year. Over-hyped.
I love living here. I moved here in 2004. My mom was born here. Thank you, Mom.
Is it true that there are problems with the water supply?
Lived there for 12 years. Beyond gentrified at this point.
I was supposed to be in Bisbee this week and this video was like pouring a margarita into an open womb......salt and all.....ouch!!! You are definitely spot on about feeling at home there and it carries the same kinda vibe that maybe Key West and Salem would, but its not a tourist trap racket like Salem has become. Better driving than Massachusetts 😅
I hope you get back there soon! Yeah, was in Salem not that long back and it’s wild how touristy it is now. 😳
@@ObscuristTourist I have too get back there. There's 2 dentists in Naco on the Mexico side that does inexpensive and really good work.
Bisbee is close to Tombstone with wild west history of it's own. Look up the Bisbee massacre.
It looks awesome but you left out something 😢food😮 Tell me something about food in a place where I'm going to travel to..
Beautiful town where is the people? How the health care system works there do they have hospitals?
There were not many people around because it was the middle of the pandemic … and Thanksgiving. Also, there is a hospital there.
Good gosh! You have not traveled America if Bisbee is your favorite town. There are far, far better towns, even in Arizona.
Well done video. Perhaps a bit over the top, but well done, nonetheless.
Oh, it’s very over the top. Haha. Thanks for watching! 🤗
@@ObscuristTourist I lived in Bisbee for five years, had a gallery there. It has some drawbacks too. Bad behavior by residents and visitors alike is not at all uncommon and it is the weekend-drunk capitol of Arizona, if not the entire Southwest, but all towns have their problems. The town also had an obnoxious city inspector I had to throw out of my place more than once. The shops are great, and if you didn't visit the Vietnamese Phó restaurant, you really blew it. ;-)
You need to travel to Gatlinburg , Tennessee. I think you would love it even more than Bisbee.
On my list! Aiming to get down there this spring. ❤️
The only thing I know about this town and the only reason I know this town exists,is because of the great comedian Doug Stanhope. He said he visited there one time and loved it so much,he moved there and has been there ever since. Cool looking town
Honestly, I seriously considered moving there the first time I visited. Makes sense that Stanton’s just stuck around.
And they're NEVER haunted
Very true. 😂
What are the chances of bumping into Doug Stanhope there?
I feel like it’s pretty good, considering there are less than 7K people living there. Though, I’m sure he ain’t hanging out in Old Bisbee.
He invites people over for the Super Bowl, also Johnny Depp can be seen here sometimes. I did last spring, but he was in a Speedo and i kinda went my own way
I was born here in 1954. But this is the Southwest, not the South.
Yes. I misspoke! 🫣
It's a bunch of crappy antique shops and bars and there are many, many towns that look just like that, if not better. This video is bizarre.
Been to Bisbee many times and it IS a very cool place to visit. BUT...
The best town in America? Ummmmm, no. 🤣😂 That's crazy. 🤣
There are sooooo many great towns in America, but being from Canada … and the east coast in general - It was more a choice of best town you should know about. But yeah, there are waaaay too many great places. Bisbee has always felt super comfortable to me, so purely a personal choice not rooted in fact 😎
Interesting history, but everybody was hanging out around the town smoking pot. Doing nothing.
Yeah, definitely wasn’t like that pre-pandemic (or not that I remember it that way) - but it is more like what you are saying nowadays. 😂
Average age in the US = 38. Average age in Bisbee AZ = 62...... NO THANK YOU!!!!
Lets gatekeep Bisbee so we can afford to retire here
🤗🤗🤗
I’m afraid you’re 30 years too late.
Interesting video, except the opening.😂 Almost stopped watching after the first 2-3 seconds.
Buuuut … the most important thing is that you made it past the first 2-3 seconds. 😎
Nah Savannah, Georgia is way better.
I do love Savannah as well! 🤗
If you like crippling humidity and boiled okra.
